Not much to report but when I was out there last fall, the cage guy said they were going to put in a sky box area above where the bar in the back is and update the whole area with Hi-Def TV's. I think he also said they were going to rearrange the area where the slot machines are at to make more room for seating.

I love the book, but I do hope they put in better ventalation in that area. I smoke when drinking and i was gasping for air while I was watching football, Pretty smokey.

Last year the LVH was purchased and renamed Westgate Las Vegas. New ownership promised a slew of changes, including a large Elvis attraction, new pool area, new restaurants and more. While those renovations are already happening and available to visitors, the best is yet to come. Those are well and good but the biggest and most exciting renovation is finally underway.

The Westgate sportsbook is more commonly known as the Las Vegas SuperBook and is the favorite book of many locals and tourists alike. While the SuperBook may be one of the best place to wager on sports in Vegas, the sports book itself shows its age. The renovations to the SuperBook are expected to be complete by the end of August, just in time for football season.

The SuperBook will have a facelift and totally new look by September. The racebook and sportsbook will flip flop sections in the 30,000 square-foot room. This will likely give sports bettors much more seating. All of the seating will be replaced and there will be a new arrangement to go along with the new display setup.

The SuperBook will replacing all 60 of the very dated projection screens. They will be switching to much brighter and easier to see LED video walls.

Earlier this year, we mentioned that the SuperBook will be offering mobile wagering before 2015 is over. Part of that mobile wagering offering will be that the sportsbook gets an entirely new operating system. While they’re fixing the backend of operations they will also replace the current betting windows with a new setup.

The rear end (hey now!) of the sportsbook will also get a makeover. The back area of the book will have its slot machines removed and VIP skyboxes in its place. There will also be a new bar.

Vegas Eater offers unconfirmed reports that this will become a new outpost for Draft’s Sports Bar and Grill. Other Draft’s Sports Bar and Grill locations offer craft beer and gourmet burgers. This would be a nice step up from the type of food and drink previously offered at LVH and Hilton.

The timing of the renovations is perfect. The NBA and NHL playoffs are winding down and MLB will be the main focus on the sports calendar for the rest of the summer. This is traditionally the slowest time of year for sportsbooks.

These changes can’t come soon enough. If the renovations are as great as they sound, my annual visit to the SuperBook will likely become a much more frequent visit.

I personally like the current deli and hope they pur in something with more than burgers. Geez, I stay there and the food choices for a lunch or light breakfast are practically non-existent when the deli is not open. I'll have to find a new Vegas home if all the Sportsbook has is a burger bar. Sids is a big fat "NO" and Fortuna, their coffee shop only has cold cut sandwiches. I play practically non-stop when I am there, being off strip and all, and I need a good place to grab a bite to eat that is not some gourmet hoopla stuff.

If you have time and don't mind...could you post pictures of the new renovations of the Superbook. Have found very few online and they are either CAD programs of what they want it to look like, or month old pictures of the temporary setup. GL in the Supercontest, not entering myself but going to Vegas for the first weekend of football season.

Really hope they keep the deli in the book. I spent all day Saturday and Sunday in the sporstbook last October on a yearly guys trip and ate three meals a day at the deli. Decent food and great location.

I'll be there over Labor Day weekend signing up for the SuperContest. If it doesn't still look like a construction zone, I'll take a few pics.
