I just checked out of the Gold Coast and found the rooms as usual to be on the small side and very clean. Now the Rio rooms are a lot larger and have bigger TV's and a bigger bathroom plus a small fridge which the Gold Coast will charge you $15.00 per stay. If, you have medicine that needs to be refrigerated the charge still stands. The Rio are quite clean too.

I've stayed at both. Rooms at GC are quite small....if you are a pool person be warned...GC pool is smaller than many private home inground pools ;) I always want a fridge in my room and the size of Rios rooms is great. I would be happy if every hotel on the strip was setup like Rios rooms.

You can tick off many boxes where Rio is going to have the better room. However, right now I would still stay at Gold Coast first. Even though the rooms are small, they are well laid out and comfy. And right now, for the budget conscious they have got Rio beat when it comes to dining and gaming. I would just as soon stay there than check into Rio and have to cross the street.

GC also has way better gaming than RIO.
I go where the gaming is, 'cause how long do you stay in your room anyways?

I've stayed at Rio once, GC many times, and have to agree with what appears to be the consensus. Namely, Rio has the better rooms, but GC has the better gaming. Whether it's your typical basic room or a luxury suite, I'm only in the room for sleep, shower, and changing, so I prefer to stay where I play. I'm also pretty loyal to BConnected and appreciate the comped rooms and meals I'm unlikely to get for my level of play at Rio.

In this case I'd stay at the Rio, better room and it's a 2 minute walk over to the CG.

Gold Coast is fine for Friday and Saturday when it's harder to get the comped rooms at the Rio..I have stayed at both every year..and yes the VP is better at the Gold Coast but I play enough at the Rio to still get the weekday comps. The fridge, better in-room coffee and couch/coffee table makes it nice enough to hang out in the room more to take some breaks from the casino floor. You really can't do that at the GC...they also have that strange glass partition in the shower-you have to reach around it to adjust the water temp before getting in..minor PIA..

Rio rooms will certainly be larger, but I never considered Gold Coast rooms to be small. There are rooms mid strip smaller than the Gold Coast.

I dunno if this is a consideration, but Gold Coast has always allowed me to check in early without additional charge. My longest wait for check-in has been maybe five minutes.

    I agree, as well.

We also enjoy spending time at the Palms, which is easier to get to from the Gold Coast, without navigating through Rio's front entrance.

If you're going from Rio to GC go out the entrance where the shuttles are, by the buffet. Quicker.

I haven't stayed at GC, but played there several times while staying at Rio. I enjoyed the Rio rooms and staff. I never had any trouble checking in early there, but I haven't stayed there in a couple of rooms. I had heard that GC didn't have in-room safes. Since we're generally traveling with laptops for work purposes, I want the safe to put them in along with the pitifully small bankroll.

While my money goes much further playing VP at GC, I really enjoy the vibe of the casino at Rio.

Gold Coast beds had a rubber lining under the sheets.
It made for a somewhat "sticky" feeling while lying in bed.
    Strange feeling ?
My downside was kinda warm + sticky --- my upside was cool from the room AC.
Yes - I know why a rubber lining would be over the mattress !
Guess they know their clientele ?..............c'mon that's funny !

Rio had one of the best rooms in Vegas.
Gold Coast is WAY BETTER for gaming.
    *
A ton of hookers working the Rio casino bar.
There I was playing VP while looking down the backside of some Hooker's
    French cut lingerie underwear.
    Only in Vegas !
There was also a "sting" going on near the side/back doors.
Some woman was 'sleeping" with a hoodie over her head --
and her pocketbook sitting propped up on a vacant gaming table ---
no one around, of course..............just ripe for a "grab + dash" out the conviently located doors.
Probably, right into Vegas Vice undercover waiting in the parking lot.
I took a photo of her "sleeping" there.........it was SO obvious to me.
Still have the photo - and get a chuckle out of it !

Yeah, the safe is the only major knock on the GC rooms for me, especially since the rooms have been remodeled and I can see several ways they could have easily incorporated them into the room. They have AC outlets everywhere so the room is begging for electronics you can't secure.

I'veonly stayed at GC twice despite always having offers when I needed a Saturday comped. Though the room had just been remodelled, it was just so small, especially the bathroom. The deciding factor against future stays for me is the lack of a safe. It's the deal breaker.
