I will be adding a Friday-Monday solo (female with life experience) stay prior to a conference in October. I plan on VP, college football, an outdoor venture and maybe a spa treatment and good food. Red Rock caught my eye first. M and Green Valley reviews weren't bad but I didn't get a great feeling about them. Red Rock was coming in at $660 for the 3 nights. I can do that but if I can save a little on rates that would be great.

    Any experience or thoughts?

While the Red Rock seems very nice,(have never stayed there) we always enjoy our stays at South Point. It has everything you need at a quite reasonable cost !

Why off strip? I thought I would try something different. I will be staying at Plant Hollywood for four nights on this trip. Also, I enjoy VP, especially bartop but it is hard to find a good bartop experience on the strip.

Plenty of VP machines at SouthPoint, with many quarter progressive bar-tops as well.
Nice place, not as fancy as Red Rock or M, but it's decent. I always felt safe there. Lot's of food choices and a 16 screen movie theater complex to boot!

That was my first thought. For a solo trip (I'll often extend a business trip) I very much prefer the Strip.

Personally I would be bored staying that long at Red Rock. What about the Palms or the Orleans. Close enough to the strip if you need a change of pace and good VP bars.

I'd say South Point also. Movie theater, bowling, a good variety of restaurants. If you want to go to the strip, easy bus ride there, I think SP also has a shuttle they run to the strip also.

I love the South Point for the VP and $5 / $10 tables. The Spa I have no idea about. It's a mixed age group clientele except I don't see many in their early 20's.

I'm as far from a solo female as you can get so can't comment of that part.

Edit: I also love Red Rock for the restaurants and vibe but my money just doesn't last as long there.

What about Aliante? About 30 minutes from the Strip with great games, restaurant, and Spa ---- plus close to Mount Charleston

Southpoint is decent but there are better options IMHO. Palms, Orleans, Red Rock, GVR, Suncoast, M, I would take any of these over SP. Aliante is nice too

I am a female who really enjoys going solo to LV. I love Silverton - nice rooms, good restaurants, good bartop VP, very chill, great comps. I also enjoy the Palms, Hard Rock, Gold Coast, Orleans, GVR/RR and M for solo trips. I will say that I always have a rental car so I can hop around if I feel like it, but I am generally content at any of the off Strip properties for a few days.

Another female with life experience here (love that description)! I usually stay at Palazzo on strip, but as a video poker enthusiast, I love my solo time downtown. The accommodations are dated and basic, but I am content at 4 Queens or MSS. 4 Queens has better access to everything, and some of the best bartenders for keeping an eye out for you. The Mike's bar in 4 Queens is my absolute favorite place for video poker. The Boar's Head Bar at MSS is a close second.

I really liked Rampart Casino at JW Marriott, but I wouldn't stay longer than 2 days there as it is so far from anything if the gambling isn't good, it's a pain to get anywhere else. The M is really nice too, but same thing location wise.

Have you considered Gold Coast? There are 3 resorts within walking distance. Palms, Gold Coast, and Rio. Even if you have a car, being within walking distance at 3 different types of resorts is really nice. Because GC gets a lot of locals, i'm sure that VP will be a plus. Also, since you will be at PHO on the same trip, i presume you have a card, therefore, racking up some points at Rio.

Thank you for all of the responses. I don't think I will be off-strip long enough to get bored. I will arrive Friday- settle in, hit the Sports Book to check out the odds, have a great dinner, hit the VP for a while and call it a day. Saturday will be dedicated to football and the Sports Book, more VP, another nice dinner and maybe a show. I'm really not interested in night clubs. Sunday I'll monitor the pro games but try to either get a nice hike in, kayak Lake Mead, or a visit to the Dam. I will need another excellent meal. Monday is spa day. From there I have Monday afternoon through Friday to enjoy the Strip.

In the past I have stayed at Harrahs, Mirage, Paris, Monte Carlo, Planet Hollywood, and Palazzo. I have visited Downtown (daytime only) and really enjoy MSS and the VP there. I'm really not interested in staying downtown this trip.

All your perspectives are very helpful.

As a solo female, when I stay off-strip, it is at Palms. There are many great dining options, staff is friendly (especially the bartenders at the Sports Bar) and it is an easy walk to Gold Coast and Rio and a quick shuttle or taxi to the strip.

With Car: Red Rock, M Resort or possibly GVR

    Without: Orleans or South Point

Budget options: Sams Town or Eastside Cannery (easy walk between the 2)

I've done 4 nights at the Orleans to break up my time Downtown. Quiet, safe and had everything I needed. The spa is small but I was always the only one in there. The rates are usually very good for their (all new) Premium rooms.
