I was in Reno years ago and me and a Navy buddy were drinking at the bar. we were both active duty. A pit boss came up and we struck up a conversation. He said if we are in the Navy then we could drink free on him. He gave some paper to the bartender and we spent the next 12 hours drinking for free!! No gambling, just sitting there boozing it up.

20 years ago, I was a 21 year old kid, just learned the high low counting system.

Friend and I studied for months before the trip.
1st night in Vegas, staying at the Sahara on one of those southwest flight and hotel deals.
    after playing some downtown Casinos
Friend decided to call it a night, I took the bus to circus circus.

Played their double deck 25 minimum blackjack game with double down after split permitted.

    Sat for nearly an hour
    Won 900 bucks
As I was about to Leave
Pitboss named Glen J********* says Hey hold up.

I could have swore he caught me counting.
    But, He says
Are you staying with us here at circus circus?
I said no Im at the Sahara
he asks if I have ever tried the Steak House
    I said no
He says, Well How about I comp you to our steak house
Your a good player and you take care of our dealers.

Those days are far far gone.
Now its all points on your card and expected loss percentages.

Orleans, pre-Christmas 2013, playing craps at 3-4-5 x 5$ table; 125 $ at the Prime Rib Loft on property and it was glamorously filling. Impressed the MIL (and me too). Usually had 30$ working each roll for about 2.5 hours. And won some too.

Borgata AC 2009, comp'd dinner for two at Old Hometstead - bill was $185 not including tip. Not a single thing since. Now they direct you to their Borgata player's club area in the High Roller salon. The good old days are far gone.

Riviera, 1997, my first comp was my best comp. played $5 bj for a couple hours and pit boss gave my wife and I buffets. could not believe it, getting to gamble and eat free. can't hardly beat that.

Recently I got a great comp from Hollywood Casino in Columbus. My brother and I took our dad up to casino for his 77th birthday. Now I'm a believer that at a certain age, people start to revert back to their childhood. Little kids get all excited about their birthdays and talk about nothing else, I'm finding the same thing has happened with dad....lol. Anyways, dad kept saying this and that to us about his birthday, I was about to choke him, Pierre is a pit boss who used to deal at Hollywood and he must have overheard. He came over and handed dad a slip for three free buffets to take his sons to get something to eat. Dad was beaming, what a great birthday present for him. There are quite a few things I don't like about Hollywood but Pierre isn't one of them. Great pit boss, not because of the buffets but because every single time I'm there he takes the time to come over and say hello and shoot the shit a few minutes. Makes you feel like you matter.

2 tickets to the IHeart concert at MGM Grand 3 years ago 1 hour before concert.
    I never asked for them.
Half the people at the table were leaving for the concert and she walked up and asked if I wanted tickets?
She said the casino just released 20 tickets and to walk over to the host desk now and pick them up. She said "Don't color up,I'll watch your chips,GO NOW".
    My wife was happy.

All but once, it's only been meals & cigarettes... but that once was a pool-side garden suite at the Stardust (RIP  ), after me & my buddy had already checked out on our last day.
We were both doing well, and wanted to stay an extra night...it was a Friday, so I thought we may have trouble getting Stardust rooms so late coming into a weekend...I asked the Pit about it...he took a look at both of our ratings, came back about 5 minutes later and said "You're all set. Just go to the 'Invited guest' counter & they'll take care of you."
So - I'm thinking we have two regular rooms coming...but no... it's a two-bedroom, 2-story garden suite, with the pool right outside our patio door.
My best comp ever...although, to be fair, that was based on the play from both of us...not just me.

Those were sure some fun days... I played green way more often back then...with smaller starting bankrolls than today... guess I had more guts back then.

Honestly, I've never gotten a comp from a bitboss. Does it still happen? I've had some really great craps sessions (hit a couple 5 point fires - never 6 pointer), and had some really bad ones (down 5k in one sitting - small potatoes for some, big for me). Pitboss has never once offered a comp - I've also never asked.
