Dragging days until trip

Why does it feel like your trip date will never arrive?

Seems like from the time it went from July 31st to August 1st, time has stood still!!

I find myself in Barnes and Nobles at least twice a week reading the Las Vegas travel books

 

My wife updates the countdown board each day.
Getting close to single digits (working days).
Yes, it seems like it will never get here, but its like watching an inch worm move from far way.
You really need to look up close to realize it is moving and will eventually get to where it wants to go....sort of like you and your trip.

 

One more shift and one more sleep...

 

I keep writing down on random sheets of papers places I am eating and going to go.

 

I know - this has been my shortest lesd time for a trip and I'm ready to start packing. So much of my pre trip stuff is done. Shows booked, rental car booked, shopping done, coupons collected. Yesterday we got our travelers checks and a bundle of $2.00 bills for tips. What more can I do to fill my time but read the board!

 

When I am three weeks or more out from a trip, especially when it's months, I feel that way but within that 2 week to 10 day window, I stress a bit actually about getting everything I want to get done for work and personally + packing within the time allotted. I'm an obsessive trip planner generally, including when it comes to Vegas, and I still often find myself days before wondering how I'm going to get everything done and overpacking, no matter how hard I try not to do. I'm much better than I used to be -- I'm now just carry-ons with TRULY carry-on luggage -- but I still find myself throwing in too many toiletries, papers and just stuff into my bag at the last minute.

 

I am strictly carry on. I don't even pack toiletries. I get them at cvs out there. Since I am not hitting trendy night clubs, I am strictly a bathing suit, basketball shorts and a pair of cargo shorts and a couple t-shirts!! (socks and undies too)

 

MrSean, That's what I am exactly doing for my trip a week from Thursday. Decided just within the past week to do. No special shows -- okay maybe one -- but will have four diamond shows that I can attend comped (this is a solo trip and I'll be there in August into September), eating non-fancy meals (will be at Wynn Buffet quite a bit), spa, pool and I hope winning at LOT and just having a good time. I'm cleaning my luggage now and hoping to pack very lightly, which I think will be liberating.

But, I'm also thinking about all that I have to do before I leave in 11 days!

But August 20 at 8:30 when my flight leaves EWR seems like it will never get here! I have packed and repacked at least 3 times. So much anticipation!! Especially since we had such a great winning trip in May.

 

I am leaving in 12 days! Let's hit a table or get a drink

 

I'm flying out of Newark a week later! But I haven't started to pack and repack! I was thinking about sizing my carry bag though. Have to see what is the biggest you can take. Normally I toss my sneakers in there and go through security in flip flops!
But when you are a size 13.5, it takes us some space!!

 

It's sort of like when you were a kid waiting for & counting down the days until Christmas.

54 days to go for me!

 

I do the same thing lol! I go to the local native American casino to get a small fix but it just doesn't do it for me!

 

It's like the clock is going backward

 

With about a month out, I start putting the wheels in motion!
* Book MyVegas awards
* Book VIP Club/Bar access
* Map out which pools we are going to
* Map out where we are eating on what days
* Map out transportation options
* Get Groupons, if needed

I do agree, the last bit of time drags, but the planning makes it fun. What sucks is when you get back from Vegas on 10/5 and aren't going back until June of 2016!!! (My situation)!

 

My wife is not a fan. I came thisclose to getting her and the kids to come this time.. Maybe next trip

So, the only real mapping for me is where I am eating daily..
Friday I have the Super Contest Seminar up at the WestGate. So I will grab something light at lunch. Then grab something over there.

Saturday, go for a morning jog on the strip.. have a power bar or two.. hit the pool... then go to Caesar's buffet for dinner..
Sunday, again run off some fat.. hit a buffet somewhere for lunch.. maybe hit Fremont that night for dinner
Monday.. run fatty fatty run!! and I haven't thought this far ahead yet!
Tuesday... morning run --

 

whoa, travelers checks!!! I don't think I've seen one since the early eighties. where do get those these days? What day do leave, just might run into you

 

my wife isn't a fan either, came with on Feb.trip, will on Nov trip, otherwise I'm on my own. Don't even map meals. Stay DT so breakfast is usually DuPars, don't eat lunch but will have dinner around 5 or so. I have places I like, throw in a new one occasionally. Mix in gambling, drinking and hanging out with my vegas friends, I'm good

 

She came out in 2006. But that was only because her 2 girlfriends and their husbands were going.
And I planned a great trip for us

Now I go solo every trip

Not that I map meals, I just try to find new places to eat when I am there.

 

You know what I hate worse than the time dragging? Getting a text when you pop the trunk to get your suitcase that says your flight is delayed 5 hours.
