    My Trip Report

I'm a little late in starting this thread, I got in yesterday barely missing that kerfuffle with the DC area ATC system. This is my annual August trip, where I trick my NY friends into coming out here with me for a week to live the degenerate lifestyle. They wont be in until later, so my first day was solo. I am comped at the D for the first half, then over to the Nugget, mainly to lounge at the pool.

So, lets start with the flight out. Airports don't bother me, I don't have much trouble navigating ticket lines or security, so why does it turn otherwise intelligent persons into raging morons? Airplane day is not the time to test wear your Mr. T starter set, and I'm pretty sure propane tanks were never allowed onboard. Should have learned following simple directions sometime around kindergarten, but I guess some folks learn slow.

Flight was smooth, a nice 5 hour non-stop in first class, until my neighbor sat down. This guy was a seriously large human being, who immediately took up the entire armrest. Sigh, just like riding in GP. Worse, the absolutely terrified woman in the seat in front of me (literally screamed when the plane banked) spilled her water on my backpack. Not off to the best start, but at least I got here alive.

Pretty much the best feeling in the world is walking out of McCarran baggage claim and getting that first blast of Vegas heat, I absolutely love it. Tells me I made it and the fun has begun. Cab ride was $26 to The D, I had him take Paradise past the Westin. I think that's the cheapest, but definitely takes longer. He wanted to take the tunnel and seemed not eager to chat or drive fast.

No lines at D check in at noon, my room wasn't ready, but they gave me another on the 31st floor, I may regret that given the elevator situation here, but I wanted to get settled quick.

Have a boatload of pics to post from yesterday's adventure to follow.

Ended up doing pretty good for the first day.

I tried the Binion's Grill burger for dinner based on the "best burger" thread. Definitely a good eat, but not earth shattering.

Oh, and for late night intoxicated solo eating, Lanai is still horrible food. Shortest line is not a good reason to eat there.

This brings me to this morning:

The only stop go morning coffee.

Messing with the panorama app, might need some "eye bleach" for this one.

You're off to a great start. I love those Buffalo. Will have to give Sons of Anarchy a try. Keep those hits coming.

    Starting off right

Lunch at Coney Island at the D, best hot dogs in town IMHO. The fries aren't the best, but they make them fresh to order so they're not greasy hot lamp fries.

So this lady walks by, looking just like the statue in Harrahs, wearing shiploads of a perfume that has to be named "eau de repellent de humans." Like friggen toxic gas.

Not winning today, but I just watched a lady slapping the crap out of her boyfriend. So, comedy equals winning right? I love this place.

Plaza ditched the scent finally, if it smelled that bad, implosion would have been the only solution.

Wish I had something better to post, but last night was one of those BR killing losing streak nights. The one where you keep almost winning, but no hits big enough to keep you up.

Ha, "almost a winner" is like PC for loser.

I did get to hang out a bit with the best bartender in Vegas, Mike from the 4Q. He's an Orioles fan, but other than that, a good guy.

I did grope the Blarney Stone a bit, it's supposed to gift you in the art of bullshit, but right after I went on a losing streak. Doesn't pay to mix your superstitions.

DT at 7AM. No one here but us Hobos

On another note, talking to a D insider last night and it looks like they are considering upgrading the pool area from the Motel 6 one they got now. This is a good thing.
