I see "proper attire required" but not sure if these means tie and jacket or just not shorts and a tank top? And spots insist on jackets and ties or you're not getting in?

no place requires ties. I think Picasso and Joel Robuchon prefer gentlemen wear jackets. No shorts on gentlemen at Eiffel Tower restaurant but they have pants you can borrow if needed.

I was gonna say there is just a bit of room between coat/tie and wife-beater.

Guys must also wear a collared shirt at the Eiffel Tower restaurant.

No place requires jacket and tie anymore. Le cirque, Joel robuchon, Picasso, and Guy Savoy are going to absolutely insist on long pants for men no matter who you are but that is about it. Of course you will be more comfortable and treated better in such places if you are dressed up stylishly, not just conforming to the lowest accepted standard of attire.

Yeah the bar has been lowered to "no shorts" at even the nicest places.

I asked my people about it and they said is what they've been forced to do to stay competitive in today's market.

So Morton's, Ruth's Chris et al don't require ties and jackets? Just long pants and collared shirts?

I would be shocked if Ruth's Chris required anything at all other than shirts and shoes.

Your best bet for nice joints is to, at minimum, wear a collared shirt, no shorts, and no sandals. That will get you in the vast majority of places on the strip. If you have reservations booked somewhere specific and want to be certain, a phone call takes two minutes.

I was just wondering if I needed to pack a tie and jacket for November trip when I plan to use my $100 Diamond voucher for a good steak house. Sounds like that won't be necessary, happily! NEVER wear sandals, so that isn't a problemo!

Vegas is super casual. No steakhouse in town will require a jacket or tie. A collared shirt, slacks or jeans (that don't look like they got the worst of it in a battle with the John Deere), and non-athletic shoes will get you done almost everywhere.

As has been mentioned, much less is actually required. But who wants to be the tool in the Johnny Manziel jersey and Capri-length basketball shorts?

NO! You will absolutely see people in shorts at steakhouses. Ruth's Chris is located in Harrahs, which is not exactly known for its dressy clientele haha. Just as Le cirque would love to have you in a suit and tie, Ruth would prefer to see you in long pants but she will take you as you are (no tank top or bathing suit, please).

They're pretty classy at the el-cortez downtown, no muscle shirts(armpits visible) for men, and they enforce it too.
