so, I'm getting married next weekend, and have yet to pick up any gifts for the guys in my wedding party.

so now I'm looking for suggestions, if anyone has any.

I not sure if it's traditional but it seemed they were metal, leather or wood items often with engraving. Flasks and money clips seemed to be disproportionally common. My buddy once got a nice wallet. The nicest gift I ever saw was a handmade folding knife.

I did engraved flasks filled with crown royal. I also had the priest threaten to not marry us because me and the groomsman were so drunk, so you may want to forego the whole filling them with alcohol thing.

I've gotten a couple really nice decanters with my initials in it and a nice bottle of scotch.
If your friends are cigar smokers you can get a nice engraved cigar cutter.

I got engraved steins.... honestly though none of that shit ever gets used.

MY friend got married on the 4th and the day after the wedding, hungover groomsmen were treated to a fishing guide... best gift I ever got.

I didn't get anything and I've never been married, so I don't know shit.

If I were to get married today, I would give the party Bass Pro Shop gift certificates. Hey, that's how I roll.

You are right. That engraved crap sits in the closet and is a waste of money. Between bridedsmaid gifts and groomsmen gifts we have a closetful and you can't put them out to a yard sale since they are personalized. We also added a box of 25th wedding anniversary stuff.

Bass Pro Shop GC is a great idea----or to a local liquor store or a good restaurant.

And I'd say the same thing when it comes to Christmas or birthdays or anniversaries ... the default, I-gotta-do-something position that so often leads to a gift with no real meaning behind it. If the group is not too big, do something that is unique to each guy. If one guys really likes to cook or has a fave chef, get him a cookbook and write something meaningful in it. The boozer gets a good single malt. The wine guy gets a good bottle of his fave varietal. The golfer gets a dozen ProVs. The fisher gets that Bass Pro Shop card. Etc.

Shavettes. There are like straight razors but you use half of a double edged blade in them so you dont need the strop.

They are also affordable and they will get use out of them.

Probably the two most common ideas are a flask or a valet kit. I was helping my sister pick out things and that was what came up the most.

My friend gave us each a nice bottle of booze and paid for our tux rentals. Very practical in my opinion.

I love that! I think that the gifts tend to be stupid as well (I'm probably the least sentimental woman, but whatever....) Hubby just put his groomsmen flasks into the Goodwill pile. Consumables that you know would be used are good (I mean, don't give liquor to a non-drinker) but otherwise - eh.

Maybe spring for having drinks available during the photo portion of the wedding?

    thanks all for the suggestions.....

for what it's worth, I'm of the mind to think that getting the gifts is kinda dumb, I know that any groomsmen gifts that I've gotten (flasks most of the time) end up going to waste.
but money clips seem like a good idea.

If you do the money clips, put their first name on it. Nothing worse than something with the initials of the newly weds.

It might be a tie between Hoyaheel and me for least sentimental woman.

Are people actually giving bridal party gifts with their initials on them as opposed to the initials for the recipient?! That's ridiculous.
