What's a decent price range for a cigar on the strip / downtown, $10-$20..?

Can there still being given as comps if available?

Or should we just buy up at Total Wine & More on Day 1?

Why not bring some with you?

 

I bring my own. They are way overpriced and no longer handed out like they once were unless you are a some sort of big player.

 

I understand Casa Fuente insists you buy their cigar if you want to smoke in their lounge. Apparently it might be worth it......

 

Not a Cigar smoker here in Oz, this is just for our guys Vegas trip, I have no cigar knowledge!!!

I imagine compared to Australia even the overpriced gift shop cigars will seem cheap. My buddy recommends Rhumbar in the mirage over Casa Fuente for atmosphere lately.

Assuming you are staying at the Plaza

Cheapest option is to head north on main street to the Paiute Tribal Smoke shop and pick up cigars (20 minute walk in a somewhat sketchy part of town or an easy 4 minute drive)
Next best option is Vato cigars in Binions a little less selection but only a 5 minute walk (the house cigars are decent and should be under 10 bucks)
Third option is the Chicago Brewing Company in the 4Queens which has a selection of cigars as well

Remember you can smoke a cigar at the tables or any casino lounge but try to be curtious as 5 guys smoking cigars can turn the air toxic around them in short order.

We are stopping at Total Wine & More, Summerlin for supplies first, and I know they have a humidor stocked full. Id say we might purchase a few there to get things started.

At MGM the cigars were at least 75% markup of what I pay at my local cigar shop. A couple years back I went into the cigar shop on the strip between Wallgreens and Smith and Wollensky's and they were a little pricy as well. If you are just gonna have 1 or 2 cigars during the trip its not a big deal but if you are gonna smoke 1 or 2 a day then pick them up somewhere off strip.

If you want good cigars go for Cohiba, Romeo Y Julieta, Partagas, 5 Vegas. If you just want something to smoke go for Black and Milds, White Owls, Garcia y Vega, Dutch Masters. If you want to try something totally different try Acid cigars- flavor infused. Just a few ideas for ya........

 

LOL I use to get lots of cigars at the tables and would always bring home cigars I could not smoke, but you are right they are getting tight on them. The last time I got a bunch of cigars my TR points was used for them? First time that has ever happen. This was at a $300 min table. The pit manager asked who was paying I just said put it on my tab thinking it was going to be comped on my play. Two weeks later when I had enough TR points they were empty. I called and asked why and was told it was for Cigars at the table?

 

It was a blast. Nothing says classy like drinking Johnny Blue trackside out of a red solo cup. We each had 1 winning day out of the 3 days to cover our betting but no major wins.

 

If you can't get a free cigar then who can?? Unreal, the cuts are just ridiculous.

 

If you're downtown, definitely stop by Vato's in the back of Binions. Great guy and great cigars at a fair price.

 

Can you have cigars in your carry-on?

 

I always bring my own. Invest in a travel humidor and pack it with some humidity packs to keep them fresh. Pack it in your suitcase and enjoy when you get there. Stogies in Vegas are double what you would pay in local stores and triple the money of online stores. Casa Fuente is the best on the strip, but their house cigar will set you back $20 (at a minimum). Great drinks and atmosphere and they will refill your butane for lighters free of charge. Also, buy smaller robusto sizes if you plan on smoking outdoors, the dry air will ruin them (tearing).

 

Is there a Cigar lounge in the MGM? staying there in a couple of weeks so would be nice

 

That quick!? I understand they won't let you bring your own? But I guess $20 would be worth it just to experience it. I did see a smoking lounge in Paris. I was told they let you bring your own. Looked swanky, must be some kind of charge...

Castro's Cigars, downtown on 4th street across the street from the Denny's. Great cigars and within the $15 to $20 range.
