    My Trip Report

So some of you have seen my post on the vegas chat section that we are taking an Alaskan cruise out of Seattle and found that stopping in Vegas going both ways was cheaper that going straight to Seattle, spending a night etc. In addition to saving a couple hundred on flights and couple hundred on the Seattle room, we have free rooms, free limo and $450 free play each way. Quickly turned into a no brainer, especially for a Vegas addict. So told my son who just booked his flights to Seattle, but less than the 24hour cancellation. A short time later, SonofSandsFan had rebooked for a Vegas stop as well.

I learned of this "cost savings" plan from a Vegas friend on the cruise who told me several from Florida were stopping enroute to seattle. Now we have a total of 11 who will be at the Rio and on the flight to Seattle. I think we have 30 to 35 cabins in the group we are tagging along with who are mostly gamblers.

Ok, enough of that, on the way, we will arrive in Vegas 8/7 9:45PM and fly out 8/9 7:00AM. Less than 36 hours so we have planned carefully to:
    • stop at Super Liquor for beverages to fill our cruise rum runners
    • play the first night
    • spa for my DW Saturday morning
    • Gold coast for PingPangPong and first time to play there
    • Taxi to Cromwell for bar play and visit our bartender friends
    • Taxi to Lotus of Siam for incredible Thai food
    • Taxi to Rio or maybe to Cosmo since I hear there is a meet and greet
    • Play a little and repack for the cruise
    • Sleep and limo to the airport

So now I will try to post via Tapatalk with both phones to be sure I am ready to go.

Sounds like a fantastic plan! Good luck in Las Vegas and Bon Voyage!

Is Skagway a port-of-call for you? One of our favorite experiences was the White Pass Railway; we did the extended 9 hour excursion boarding the train in Carcross. Hope you enjoy the breath-taking scenery Alaska offers!

Yes we will be stopping in Skagway. We did the train years ago and enjoyed it. I think it was 4 or 5 hours though. This trip we have not planned any excursions but that may change once we get going. Joining us are my three grown kids, two spouse/girlfriends and two grandkids. I footed the cruise and flights. They have to handle excursions. It's my birthday present to me

We went to Alaska in May, rented a car in Skagway and drove the Yukon, pretty much following the White Rail pass. It was amazing and I highly recommend it.

On another note, we are from NC , and head to Austin a couple times a year, but we have found airfare is cheaper if we do a multi segment ticket stopping in Vegas. So that's exactly what we are doing in 2 weeks. Ahhh, the sacrifices we make to save a couple hundred dollars lol.

Have a great time on your trip!

Flight was great making up some time and limo was waiting on us. Stopped at super liquor a but disappointed on selection and price. Considerably more than expected. Got to Rio about 11:00 pm and decided not to play on my card for such a short time. Son of SandsFan and his GF met us for some plat before going back to Gold Coast. Great deal he got a nice suite free play and food credit. Plan was to play at Gold Coast so I could get some offers but we stayed at rio. We played a couple hours and I win $66. If you count the multiple goose and sodas,,, win. Here's some photos

Saturday was a bust day. Up early for DW massage so I started playing about 8:30 at the sports bar to get coffee and water which ended up costing 300 in play. Tried several areas and bars without any success. Son of SandsFan and GF came over from Gold Coast with their luggage to check in- After DW massage we took a taxi to Caesars and had s great friendly driver. Bacchanal buffet was great as usual. We spent roughly two hours eating and drinking mimosas.

So we won back some Sat night and got packed up to leave. Limo pick up was 5AM. Short night feeling rough but gotta go. Finished the trip down about a thousand but huge recovery before leaving. Currently in Juneau having an Alaskan lager overlooking the water, mountains and cruise ships. Had a major gambling recovery hitting 4 aces on $5 vp. $4000 and a tax form. Government forced this even though we were in international waters. Mickey Mouse but at least I am up for Vegas and cruise so far. Also tried blackjack first time since 2001 winning about $500. Of course you feed it back in but feeling good so far

Great trip because there are a bunch of people who know each other and hang out in the casino. We've met so many characters on this trip. We had a cocktail party right after sailing so got to meet a bunch of folks. These people have been doing this many years so lot of bantering about.

Also got a comp casino drink card which is awesome. We brought rum runners but haven't drank any cause it's all free. Well unless you count the gambling

We are here too late cause of the rain but we are joining a group of 20 other cabins that already planned it. We did the Yukon train ride which was great. This trio is relaxed, no excursions [IMG]

Here's a tip.......on NCL, Canadians are not taxed on Casino winnings. On a recent cruise, an American passenger won a hand pay and the casino staff gave him few minutes to find a Canadian to claim the win. The winner gave the Canadian a bit of money for the trouble.
I'm not sure if that's the case on all cruise lines or if other NCL casinos would be so......accommodating.
