I have read great reviews on the BBQ at Rolling Smoke. The bf likes Ellis Island but I would like to take him to Rolling Smoke if it is better. Is it worth the cab ride? It doesn't look walkable from Ballys. Opinions please...

I think the ribs are pretty good, not as great as i expected but still a lot better then Ellis Island. They serve real BBQ and have their own smokers in the back compared to EI who boils there ribs before putting them on the grill. The sides were however a little disappointing to me but still you get a lot of food for cheap and won't leave hungry.

I took a taxi there but couldn't get one on the way back so we walked, took us less then 10 minutes to reach the side entrance of Fashion Show Mall so i guess its possible to walk but i wouldn't recommend it especially at night. It feels like its located in a sketchy neighbourhood and i don't know how safe it will be when its dark outside.

They are opening one at the HorseShat SI in September. I will be sure to provide my review after they open.

Their specialty is brisket and everyone raves about it.
Hubby has a hankering for it again so we'll be visiting before we check in to our hotel next week.

If you take a taxi (It's waaaaaaaaay too long a walk from Bally's in the heat, or otherwise), ask the driver
for the company number to call for a ride back.

I think their bbq chicken is great and want to try the beef rib(s) next week.

Sides are okay but it's the meats that shine. OH!!! Try the corn nuggets (fritter-like). They are a fantastic contrast
    to the smoked meats.
... and ask for a side of pickles! Tell em dee sent ya. :evillaugh

Hubby adds: The pulled pork is righteous. Get the Big Daddy sandwich and pig out. Beans are meaty, slaw is good, get there early or the line will be out the door.

    Ellis Island isn't really BBQ.

I'm not an overly picky fella, but I had lunch there with a friend a few weeks ago and my friend ordered all kinds of stuff and I said make it 2! Wow... What a GREAT lunch!!! It's a small place and the line was out the door the entire time I was there. Lots of casino workers... They know a good joint. I took a LOT of food back to the room and enjoyed it at midnight! I say, YES... it's worth the ride over... DO NOT walk it.

I just drove past there a week ago and the construction of the whole Pawn Plaza deal is going great guns... I can't speak to a Rollin' Smoke location opening there.
