Last Saturday I was playing three card poker at the local Indian casino. Playing 5 pm the pairs plus 5 on the ante and the $1 progressive. After about two hours I was up $150 nothing big, a couple of flushes. Finally it hit QKA of diamonds straight flush plus the second highest level on the progressive $500 as I place my bet down the deal calls miss deal. I look around and he forgot tho take his three cards. The pit boss comes over and cancels the hand. Of course I am furious and won't let the dealer take my cards. I question the pit boss trying to get the progressive or pairs plus paid his not having cards would not effect that. Still nothing form her the player next to me could tell I was about to blowup and leans over to tell me security was behind me. (They move fast as this is about 1 - 2 minutes in) I knew I was in a lose-lose situation. I picked up my cards at this point I was told not to show them to anyone. The only thing I could do was to show the table I flipped them over and picked up my chips and walked away. I have been kicking myself for not putting up a huge scene. But I have heard of them banning people for life and meaning it. And now I figure a big win is owed to me.

As I was escorted to the cashier I heard the rest of the table color up. At least a little solidarity from the players.

    Wow...so sorry...
I always thought the rule was "machine malfunction voids all plays".
It would seem to me that, assuming they deal the dealer's cards last, your SF should have been paid, or the dealer should have simply pulled the next three cards for himself.
Now, if the dealer receives cards first, (or cards are dealt one-at-a-time in order) then I can see why the hand would have to be cancelled, as everyone's cards would have been different.

Not sure what the reasoning could possibly have been to NOT deal the dealer's cards, since in most places, they get their cards last anyway.

PS - I've lost on SFs before (twice) when the machine malfunctioned... hard to complain though , since that's the ONLY time the hand is supposed to be "void"... and I asked to see my cards & they let me.
As for being "banned for life" - to hell with them - I would have raised hell anyway....and if I lost the argument, they wouldn't have to ban me...I would never return.

While this sucks, there is really nothing you could have done.

The dealer screwed you. The Indian Casinos are also out to tighten things up.

When I play this game I make sure to wait until everything is done before picking my cards up. There have been misdeals and I did not look at the cards so who knows what I could have been dealt.

Did the dealer and the pit boss know your hand before they called a misdeal?

That is a bummer. My local indian casino is pretty good about calling over the pit bosses and them making it right. generally in favor of the players, because in the long run they will most likely get that money back from you.

I don't think that the dealer or pit boss knew they both had a look of horror when I flipped the cards. I assume that surveillance knew because security was right on top of me before things could get bad.

The table does state that shufflemaster errors void all hands. I honestly did not notice if it was a mistake by the machine or if the dealer hit the button thinking that he took his cards. But he did motion to look at the cards and say good luck.
Some times I wish I could just be an ass and cause a commotion.

Damn...that sucks and I am sorry they shafted you. While I am sure they have the right to deem the hand a misdeal, both the dealer and the pit should have gone back to the bottom of the discard tray and retrieved the first three cards for the dealer. The dealer, especially, should have been fighting for you, as they just missed out on a potentially sweet tip! Either way, I am sure that dealer got written up for that mistake. If I were you, I would also submit a comment card, email, or letter, to whoever and state your displeasure with the outcome. That dealer would be my enemy for life!

Damn that does suck. If I recall, in 3 card poker, they do deal dealer cards first, then each player playing, and then discarding the rest. If so, it was a misdeal, and it means your cards were actually meant for the person to your right, or the dealer if you were in the 1st position.

Dealer cards are dealt last and the pit critter could have taken the top three cards off the discards and made the hand the same as it would have been if the dealer didn't screw up.
I wouldn't go back to that casino after I sent them a nasty letter. Vote with your wallet/purse.

I have only played 3CP a couple times, but I do play LIR and UTH quite a bit. I have made it a habit to not even touch my cards until all cards have been correctly dealt (including the dealers), the cards in the shuffler finish spitting out, and the green light is on. Even if the dealer gives the OK before the shuffler is done, I still wait.

Are they? Then yeah, there's no reason why they couldn't correct the situation easily. I agree, I wouldn't revisit them.

It's always shitty when this happens. They have the right to cancel the hand if there was a miss-deal, but good customer service would have been to maybe give you the progressive or some part of the win you would have had because it was THEIR mistake. They could have turned a shitty situation into a win for the player AND the casino.

I haven't had this bad of a situation, but have seen misdeals and other issues like this solved in the players favor, when the casino could have just said "tough luck." In the long run it doesn't cost them a lot and it leaves a great impression on all the players at the table. If this happened to me I would not be coming back to this casino.

Depends on the casino. I believe CET (on the strip) deals the dealer hand first, but everywhere else I have played similar carnival games, dealers get their hand last.

    That's Indian casinos for you.

No self respecting Vegas casino would screw a player like that.

If anything they pay everyone when it's a dealer error like that.

Maybe being banned from this joint for life wouldn't really be so bad.

Reminds me of an incident I once observed in an orchestra pit years ago:

ASSHOLE CONDUCTOR: "#&@*&!% You'll never work for me again!!"

    TROMBONE PLAYER: "YESSSSSS!!"

Had something similar happen at the Flamingo in March although it was a slot machine. Lets Make a Deal slot and I hit $800+ on the bonus and the power immediately went out. when it rebooted the bonus was gone. Had 2 people with me and a 4th playing on the machine that saw my bonus as well. I called for a manager and they said they could do nothing. Well I was ill to say the least, Called my host and he could do nothing either, to his credit did give me a $500 comp to Ruth Chris....

So...made a phone call to guest relations figuring not much would happen the person there was very nice took all the information and said that they would pass on the complaint. The next day (yesterday) I received a phone call from the same person and was told that policy states that they could not do anything about getting me the money. I figured this much before even calling. However the casino would give me $1000 free play and $200 credit in any restaurant. So next step is to convert that into cash for September in Vegas.

Well that's some of the best news I've heard. Does that cover what you would have won?

Actually a little more. Would have won about $950. Will have to see what I can convert the free play into, I would be happy walking out with $500 in cash when i use it.

Doubt that covers the actual loss but it is something. Sounds like somebody there realized they screwed up.
