The invitation is beautiful and the back of the envelop has a sticker that when you scratch it it smells like chocolate and other sweets. The event is called the "$250k How Sweet it Is Giveaway." Three comped nights and $300 Free Play. The invitation is this pretty gold card that reminds me of the Willy Wonka golden ticket. I love how all of the rules and details are right on the back of the invite. There are four drawings on Thursday and Friday with three winners at each of the eight drawings with prizes of $500 to $1500 in Free Credit. On Saturday there's the big drawing in the early evening with 10 drawing prizes ranging from $2500 to $100,000 in Free Credit! You earn one drawing ticket for every 1000 slot points earned from Thursday to Saturday afternoon.

Other than a possible short trip at the end of August, I wasn't planning to be in Vegas until Christmas but this looks good and the fine print says the prize structure is based on just 100 participants, which doesn't seem like much. I'm sure there are some HL players who will have lots of entries where over the course of 2 days I'd probably earn 20 at the most but am curious to know the experiences of those who have participated in this kind of event.

CET has a big drawing that same weekend though I believe THOUSANDS participate in those drawing events. There are fun though and once my name was called for $1k in Free Play. DBueler was with me when it happened. I felt like I had won a million bucks. LOL.

Also forgot to ask, should I have my host book the offer or should I just call the number on the card to book it? Thanks for any advice and info!

I've done two such events at Wynn.

The first one was last October and was similar to this one. You earned tickets with your play and they drew for winners at a "Let's Make a Deal" type game show thing where you could take a certain amount or choose to take the prize behind one of the doors. I'm no High Roller (and I play VP not slots) and that one was 5000 points per ticket so I had 3-4 tickets and I saw most people with dozens.

Needless to say, I didn't win anything. But I had a blast. They put on a really fun event (like I said, it was very much a game show atmosphere), with some great food and an open bar.

I also went to a slot tournament last weekend. Again, I had a blast. Good food, free booze and the meeting room they had it in opened up to a patio overlooking the golf course. Plus the slot tourney was actually really fun. And (at least theoretically) everyone had the same chance of winning - I even finished in the money (somewhere in the 20's for $1500 in freeplay). Oh, and the party favors were a pair of Ray Bans - a nice little bonus.

I just got the October offer today and it definitely has me interested. My only concern is that I don't have much of a chance at winning as I won't have nearly as many tickets as the high rollers will. But since the offer also comes with upfront freeplay and a small amount of f/b, I'm definitely thinking about it anyway.

I would absolutely recommend doing one of these events. Wynn really does it up nice and you'll definitely have fun. But I share your concern about us low/mid rollers not having much of a shot. I guess I'd say if the upfront freeplay and/or food and beverage is similar to other offers, no reason not to go for it. You'll get a free meal, booze and some entertainment out of it, if nothing else.

Thanks thecarve for the info. Very helpful and the event sounds fun. I'm sure Wynncore knows how to throw a good event!

Another VMBer just told me far more than 100 people participate in these events, so I found the info on the card misleading in that respect, but I'm seriously thinking about attending, if I can get good airfare. I live on the East Coast and normally go to Vegas for 7 to 10 days. This would be for a shorter 3 1/2 day trip.

The one I was in this past weekend said "prizes based on 150 entrants". There were 143 but prizes were as stated. There were also far fewer entrants than the stated number in the event last October yet the prizes were as mentioned. So it can go both ways apparently.

Nice! Very good to know. I think I'm going to make that move. Do you book events like this by calling the number on the invite or do you have your host book it?

I always go through my host. I doubt it matters how you do it. But I always ask for a ride to/from the airport (finally got the Rolls last weekend:beer:) and casino marketing probably can't arrange that.

I got this invite also. I'm going to be in Vegas around that time and would like to try this out. I initially thought there would be only 100 participants but looking at it closer the invite says " prizes and prize structure are subject to change based on the actual number of participants". That lead me to believe that 100 would be the minimum number of participants. I never expect to win in these things anyway. It's just something fun to do while in Vegas. I have a conflict on October 15 so would not be able to arrive in LV until late. I don't know if it would be worth it to participate with missing most of Thursday.

Flowers - if you decide to do the event let me know. Maybe we could meet for a drink.

Everything the Wynn does is nice. I've admired their invitation for many years . . . the only problem is that I find it very difficult to win there.

I was tempted to play in the $1500 buy in tournament this year . . but

I've had handpays at Wynn, but only after I was down the amount of the handpay . . . .

Elf70, If I make that move I'll definitely let you know. Dozed off last night but I'm about to email my host now to at least book it and Jet Blue has a 2-day sale going on now. I'll get everything set and if I can't go I'll just cancel but I want to set the trip up now. I agree re: missing Thursday but it still might be worth it if you are there for the Friday drawings and the big Saturday drawing.

DaiLun, appreciate the endorsement re: Wynn events. The invitation is so nice I'm going to hold on to it!

The prize structure is based on at least 100 participants.

But they'll have 250 there easily.

Not worth a trip by any means but certainly a bonus if you happen to be there.

    I won't name a special trip unless it's 1 in 30 for at least 500 to 1M.

Lol...They know no one would have a shot if you came...you would have like a gazillion tickets, thecarve and Flowers would have a dozen each, and I would have just one. Every name they call for a prize would be "pphold". After the third time they call you up, they will just tell you to stand there, as they finish reading your name for the rest of the prizes.

I got this offer and booked it as well. The wife and I were looking for one last weekend before the 2nd (and last) xerox arrives in January. I'm probably at the same level as Flowers, so I may not have a chance, but I'll have the same chance as those without a chance, so there's still technically a chance!

We went to the Porsche event in June and one of the high rollers cleaned up, winning both the biggest car and second biggest cash prize.

The only thing I like about this event vs the Porsche event is that the Porsche event had an entry period of an entire month, where you could have had high rollers in town for a variety of reasons (Including Shopping Center Convention 50,000 real estate gamblers) and you didn't have to be present to win the Porsche whereas this event is limited to the weekend, so your chances are confined to the mix of a more limited pool.

As far as the party, it was pretty meh compared to other events I've been too, just classed up relative to other hotels.

The stars are beginning to align for these dates for my tentative fall trip. Like the rest of you, I think my chances of winning anything are slim and none. But at least the offer comes with a similar amount of freeplay and f/b as my usual offers. So what the hell, right?

Anyone hip to how far along the Encore renos are supposed to be by Oct?

Confirmed this trip/offer with my host. Sounds like there's enough MVB'ers interested for a meetup at this event. I'll be happy to be part of the VMB cheering (jeering) section on Saturday.

I'd be game for that. Just sent my host a note to confirm and now booking flights. Not dirt cheap but about as low as I can get on Jet Blue from JFK; $179 each way, non-stop. Not bad. The CET drawings being the same weekend (assuming the drawing times don't conflict) are a bonus. Looking forward to that weekend!
