    My Trip Report

Headed out on July 20th with my high school buddies to celebrate our 55th birthdays. Due to real life getting in the way, we only do this trip every 5 years...but we make the best of it when we arrive. RT from Boston through United, although our flights got delayed so we were re-routed through Minneapolis via Delta...we had a sympathetic gate attendant who upgraded us to Economy Comfort...Score! Free drinks all the way to Vegas and we definitely took advantage of this perk! Flights were uneventful and we arrived in Vegas around 9 pm. A quick trip through the car rental center and we picked up a Toyota Corolla at Advantage...more on the car later!

Check in at The Linq was quick (10 minutes) and painless. The boys scored two queen beds and I was placed in a King. Room was fine and off we went to Guy Fieri's for their vegas fries and bacon Mac and cheese burger. Great service....great beer and great times with the guys!

Rest of night was a bit of wandering through Linq, flamingo, bellagio and caesar's...craps and blackjack...no big wins...no big losses...great drinks (grey goose and grapefruit) all night..stumbled back to the room at 4:30 ...1 hour sleep and we are off to our Grand Canyon flight!

Up at 530 and off to the Grand Canyon tour ...great deal ($129) for one hour flight over Hoover dam and Grand Canyon south rim...really awesome and would recommend this trip! Back to Vegas and the boys were hungry! So...off to the Peppermill we go!! Again, would recommend this place at any hour of the day...we sat at the counter and caught all of the action in the kitchen...very entertaining...we had a variety of breakfast foods...all awesome and I ordered their Bloody Mary which was very delicious!

Headed back to Linq and spent some time at their Pool. Excellent pool! I read some reviews about the music and the loud volume, but we were very happy with music selection as well as the volume...we could easily talk and met some great people of varied ages as well as having some great beers ($6 each) but very cold and satisfying. After pool, we returned to our rooms and a power nap was in order! 2 hours later...up and at 'em as we got ready for dinner at Charlie Palmer Steak at the Four Seasons.

We came to Charlie Palmer for a specific steak off the MJ menu...bone in filet. We were casually dressed, but greeted very warmly by the host and were seated in a comfortable booth in the back of the restaurant where we could watch all the proceedings. You cannot beat this three course meal with wine for $49! Salad/soup, filtet and dessert. Wine was great and refilled generously from the sommelier. Our water provided great service. The filet was outstanding...medium rare...flavorful...and rounded out with some gratin potatoes that we ordered on the side. Coffee and dessert and we were ready for our post dinner cigars and drinks at En Fuego!

We crabbed over to Caesar's and headed to En Fuego. Again, greeted warmly at the door...we explained our cigar preferences and were offered reasonably priced sticks ($12) which our host prepared and lit for us. We found a table out front and our waitress took our order for a 18 year old scotch...neat . Again, a great choice and we passed the next 1 1/2 hours sipping and smoking....great conversation and people watching. Thoroughly enjoyed this stop!

Next, we headed downtown for a little low rolling fun... Stops included mermaids for a fried Twinkie, MSS for a drink and a stop by the Berlin Wall urinals. We enjoyed the downtown scene, although still can't believe the number of kids down there at 1 am..doesn't make any sense to me ! Anyway, we finished up with another couple of drinks and back to the Linq area for some gambling and late night/early morning drinks. Linq promenade was hopping all night and there seemed to be varied ages enjoying the clubs, restaurants, and bars. Gambling was up and down, but had fun with the groups at both craps and blackjack...again...fairly even for the evening...retired around 430am and looking forward to another fun day!

Up around 830 and Starbucks once again.hesded over to tix4tonite to score some tix for a show...we went old school and picked Rich Little at the Trop.... Buddy chose the show, but we were ok with the pick. Headed downtown to Pawn Stars as one of the gang likes their show...not much to really see, but still a good take... Wandered through circus circus, palazzo, slots of fun, amd SLS...don't really get the SLS theme and it was dead as a doornail...the new Resorts World across the street will be a HUGE project and seems to be catering to the Asian gamblers... Placed some sports bets at Palazzo and headed back to the Linq for a power nap and then prepare for dinner at Bellagio Buffet and the rich little experience!

Up after. 2 hour nap and off we go to get the car from valet...up until now, valet was quick and friendly...this time, though, not so much. Waited about 15 minutes and then saw suits running into the garage...yes, you guessed it... The valet kissed the back of the car off a concrete barrier. To their credit, one of the suits came right up to me and offered his card, said that the damage would be covered by the hotel and as a comp they would take off the resort fees for both rooms and offered us a $100 food/beverage comp. All handled professionally and quickly...filled out report and off the buffet we went!

Bellagio buffet comp through myvegas went through no problem and we enjoyed a variety of good eats here. Best choices by consensus were the prime rib, asian selections and the desserts. Great waitress who kept our glasses filled and cleared our dirty plates...exactly the service you want at a buffet and she was tipped accordingly!

Cabbed to the Trop for Rich Little. Offered a 10 spot to the captain and we were seated in front row table for the show. Rich Little was great! He tells stories about the stars, still con do the impersonations dead on and intersperses routines with clips from the past and tells excellent back stories about Sinatra, Carson, etc...definitely recommend this show for an old school vegas experience! After show, hung around Trop to play some table games and then back to the Linq for more more drinks and a snack...we burned through the $100 credit pretty damn fast, but drank some great drinks! Once again, wandered around bellagio, flamingo and Linq, gambling here and there...a few hits on double double bonus poker....$200 and $200... As well as a few slot hits...played blackjack for quite awhile at Linq and flamingo...great tables and friendly dealers and players....drink service was fast...off to bed at 4:00 am

Last day in Vegas...off to red rocks for a bit...great take and definitely encourage you to visit this place! $7 a carload and several areas to stop along the way...a great break from the strip! Stopped at Red Rocks casino on the way back...nice vibe...lots of locals...stayed for an hour and played VP, but no wins! Headed back to the strip area and stopped for in and out burger...new experience for the guys, but I have been several times. Great as always....double double is the way to go here!

Decided to return to Charlie Palmer Steak for another MJ menu steak! It's that good! Staff once again friendly and welcoming....no airs in this place from staff at all! Executive chef and front of house manager stopped by to thank us for our return and we chatted for a bit....good people and very sincere...sommelier spent more time with us as well as our waiter from previous night...chef sent out additional dessert to us and the wine poured very freely! Again, try this menu out! It's well worth the $49!

We ended our trip uneventfully and took the red eye back to Boston. Arrived Friday am very tired, but happy to have shared this experience with my great friends! Offers already in for 3 nights at Caesar's and will probably return in the fall with the wife!

Glad you had a good trip. That is exactly how Vegas should be done. Barely any sleep, lots of drinks and memories created with friends. I am jealous!

Nice, thanks for sharing. I want to see that Rich Little show - I used to watch his HBO specials when I was a kid, and I remember him on the Muppet Show :p - but I'm kind of balking at the price of tickets.

Great report. We're trying The Linq in October - so you had no complaints w/the rooms or the property in general? That MJ menu sounds like a fantastic deal. That might be something I want to keep an eye out for in October. Thanks for sharing.

Great report. Any trouble afterwards with the rental company. Do you have to ask for the 49 prix fix menu or is it offered when you arrive.

No complaints about the Linq... It's a little loud... ...especially at night... Rooms are about 350 sq ft... Ours were cleaned well and very comfy... Not a great view, but I didn't pay for a view! But it's a fun place!

The MJ menu is by request only... But the staff seems happy to serve it to you... We went a little heavier on the tipping(25%) to make up for the smaller check.

Slightly changing topics... but does anybody know of other deals like that Charlie Palmer Michael Jackson menu? That seems like a smokin' deal for $49. Any others out there? Sounds great to have the wine pairings.

No trouble with the rental car company (Advantage)... Just dropped car off and they said we heard from the hotel risk management group and you are all set
