I usually go to Vegas in June/July and this time I am going in August- I know it will still be just as hot, but now that is monsoon season, does it rain pretty much every day or in spurts?
Granted, August is the "rainiest" month is Vegas, but average rainfall total for the MONTH, is .55 inches. Quit your worrying!
I was there for 8 nights last August. It poured the night I got in and then there was another quick-ish storm the next day. I don't believe it rained the rest of the trip. Temps were a bit on the cooler side with mostly in the 90's and only hitting the 100's on the last couple of days. It was pretty nice.
We've had late August trips for 10 years or so & it is hot, hot, hot.....which I love but hubby prefers our March trips. A couple of years I remember it being 114-116. If the temp is consistently over 110.....the concrete seems to be radiating heat thru you shoes....lol.
I have to agree with you. Normally, it is 110+ and being on the Strip at noon is taking your life in your hands--it is actually difficult to breath.
If you go to www.wunderground.com there is an Almanac (scroll down) where you can put in any previous date for Vegas and you will see exactly what the weather has been and what the averages are.
I guess everyone experiences August weather differently, depending on what they do. If you like to spend a lot of time during the day outside walking the Strip and sightseeing and casino hopping it will seem hotter and more uncomfortable. For me it was really nice last August and I don't recall it getting hotter than 103 or so, most of the days were in the high 90's. And we also planned our trip where we spent most of out times in the various casinos we visited. We also had a car and drove around a lot.
We enjoy the hot weather and the occasional rain shower in August. We visit Las Vegas during the last week of July - first week of August nearly every year to celebrate my birthday
