Harrahs Atlantic City Resort fees

I was getting prices for our company holiday party to be held in Atlantic City this year.

In past years we have held it at Harrah's and the Borgata.

This year Harrah's sends the quote with a note that they will be adding a mandatory $20 resort fee to every room at check in.
No resort fee at Borgata which is the nicest hotel in Atlantic City.
Guessing this is brand new but it helped make the decision to book the Borgata easier.

I wish my company paid for hotel rooms in AC.

 

How much is a room at Harrah's vs. Borgata? The resort fee has been in place for several months and it includes Wifi. BTW, everything is negotiable.

 

I negotiated a rate with the Borgata that is close, although a little more ,than Harrah's with the resort fee.
Harrah's catering menu was a little more expensive and a lot more than it was for our party there two years ago.
If the rooms would have been a lot less expensive I would have leaned to Harrah's since I'm booking 30+ rooms.

I was just not aware of the resort fee since I have stayed at Borgata for the last year.Kind of surprised me.
All my employees are happier now since they all prefer Borgata.

 

They won't waive it at any CET property, apparently it is non-negotiable. We booked a convention for September 2016 at Rio and guaranteed 500 rooms for five nights plus 50 or so staff starting several days earlier ramping up. Still have to pay the resort fee.

I will book into either Aria or Mirage and rent a car, paying out of pocket for the latter. I refuse to stay at a CET property.

 

Talk about penny wise and pound foolish!

 

I pay those worthless (to me anyway) fees to avoid driving home late and not have to worry about dwi's.

 

Well worth it for that.
I was not aware the resort fee movement had spread to the AC.
I don't usually gripe in Vegas as I am comped at MLife and don't have not been charged resort fee except a couple nights at VDara that was a last minute add on to my trip.
Even then I used wifi and the gym so I got my moneys worth.
Harrah's was my home in AC for years until it started to seem a little worn.
Let my diamond expire and like the Borgata better anyway.I suspect they will eventually jump on board too.
