I'm going to guess put some guesses out there but would love to hear other's knowledge:

Not the BJ machienes but actual table Blackjack- during the week

    Ellis Island
    Bally's
    Harrahs
    Linq
Circus Circus (do they still have their $3 table?)
    Hooters
    Stratosphere ?

Where else have you found it on the strip or close to the strip?

Don't assume you will find it so easily at CET properties, and certainly not with good rules.

They do not go gently into that low rollers casino night. On a previous trip I saw lots of pricier (and still bad rules) tables at Bally's and Flamingo even though Bellagio had a lone $5 table running (not sure if they still do).

Best bet for decent rules $5 is off strip or downtown.

About 6 months ago, I played at a $5 table at O'Sheas on a Friday night.

I think what Nevyn was pointing out were the rules . . .

Was it 3:2 or 6:5 blackjack?

3:2 is getting harder to find on the strip without going over $25+

Will I play 6:5 at a $5 level as opposed busing downtown? Yes.

Is there still a free shuttle from Bally's? Do you know the times it runs?

The shuttle operates 7 days a week from 9:00 AM to 12:30 AM and picks up guests approximately every 30 - 45 minutes from the hotel's Tropicana Avenue entrance. The shuttle now drops off at The Forum Shops on Las Vegas Blvd. The last shuttle will leave the strip (The Forum Shops on Las Vegas Blvd) at 12:30 AM. Hotel guests will receive priority seating on all shuttles.

There is a free shuttle from Bally's to Rio. Walk across the street to GC. Then can take free shuttle to Orleans.

Ellis Island--$5 3:2 blackjack, 24/7. H17, surrender, DAS. 8 decks. Still a great, fairly "hidden" gem with friendly dealers and good food and beer.

It's only a 10-minute walk from the back of Bally's, or a $10 cab ride from most places mid strip. (Last week I cabbed from Bellagio three times to EI and each time it was $10 or $11, including a fairly generous tip. Definitely worth it.)

Linq - no. anything under $25 was 6:5 as well.

Downtown I've found DD BJ for $5 at Main Street Station

Downtown - $5 DD blackjack, 3:2, H17 can be fouind at:
    El Cortez (DAS allowed)
    Main Street Station
    Fremont
    California

    LVC has it for $10
4 Queens, Golden Nugget & (sometimes) the Golden Gate & Plaza have it for $15.

I don't count 6:5 games, so that's it, as far as I know...
I've heard rumors that DTG has 3:2 DD blackjack back, but I do not know the minimums or if they even actually have this game back.

Downtown buddy, go downtown. If you want a decent game w/$5 min., you're not going to find it on the strip.

Do you think that on $5 bets with 3:2 vs strip 6:5 you'd even cover the cost of your round-trip transportation to downtown and back? I honestly don't know...but intuitively, I doubt it.

It depends on how you get there if you're trying to plan it down to the dollar.

    At a slow 60 hands/hr you're putting $300 into play.

    8 deck 3:2 is 0.644% HA with a theo of $1.93/hr
    8 deck 6:5 is 2.002% HA with a theo of $6.00/hr

This assumes that most $5 tables you find will be full. If you're heads up you can get well over 100 hands per hour easy and the difference starts to really show.

Aria (which doesn't have a single 6:5 table in the casino) continues to have plenty of 3:2 at $15, at least during the day, and I've never seen a lack of $25 tables even during peak periods.

If you really want $5 blackjack on the Strip, Monte Carlo has a $5 table, but it pays an absolutely ludicrous even money on blackjacks. I beg of everyone not to play that.

    Shuttle to/from Gold Coast: free
    Time-to-travel from Caesar's: 5-10 minutes.
Available at Gold Coast: $5, 3:2 H17, DAS permitted, double-deck pitch.

I cannot fathom why anyone would play $5 6:5 on the strip when this 'good rules' game is so easily available.

I think you are probably right. Its early so I may have fucked up the math but according to wizard of odds and assuming 50 hands per hour (I think that is in the ballpark) you would need to play for 11+ hours to cover a $40 cab fare. I haven't been downtown in a while so I don't remember what the taxi cost RT is so I don't know how accurate the $40 is. I also thought I read somewhere that 6:5 vs. 3:2 costs you roughly the equivalent of one bet per hour. So yeah, probably doesn't make sense for a $5 player to incur the added cost of a taxi to find a 3:2 game.
