Southwest Drink Coupon

Hey all!
I just wanted to see if you could answer this, I read somewhere, I think it was on a blog or twitter, that after you purchase 10 one way flights with SW, they send you a drink coupon, Is this true?
or do you have to have their credit card? (which I should have gotten 6 trips ago, lol)

 

Did you opt-in to receive drink coupons?

 

I did just get some coupons. I have flown more than 10 flights with them. My mother got them out of the blue with fewer official flights on Rapid Rewards.

 

SW used to send them out on yearly basis for all their reward members.
I believe now they are limited to the CC customer base.
I get 4 on the anniversary date of my SW Visa.

 

I fly SWA 14-16 round trips a year (I always fly Business Select if that makes a difference) and I just got a set of the drink tickets (four-4)... I don't have a SWA CC. I've never paid attention to when I get them, but my guess is a couple times a year?

 

I have a SW credit card. Got 4 more coupons a month or so back that expire May 31 2016.

 

The coupons are a credit card perk IIRC but I got them and I don't have a CC with them.

 

I dont remember seeing that as an option, ever?? But I cannot imagines I would click out of free drinks.....

 

I just went and looked at my account and it says I have taken 0 flights...which is wrong and I do always make sure to put my account # in. I know in the last 5 years I have 12 one-ways.

 

I get 4 in the mail once a year and I don't have the credit card. I fly about 3x per year on SW.

 

I got 4 drink coupons and so did my husband back in Jan or Feb, they are good for the year. We fly twice a year for the last 4 years, it was the first time we got these. I do a lot of shopping on Rapid Rewards - do not have a SW Credit card. The coupons will come in handy next month. It is the first time we have not flown non stop out to Vegas -- the prices were to $$$$$ for a non stop

 

Not to hijack the thread, but I haven't flown on Southwest since they changed their coupon policy to have people's names on them. Do they actually enforce the rule and check your name? We're flying in 3 weeks, so I thought about snagging some from some friends. Thx

 

To check if you have opted in for drink coupons log in to your account, click on "travel" on the bottom left side of the page under "my preferences", then "extras" on the upper left. It will show you whether you are opted in - if not you can edit.

No, they do not. I've received some from very generous VMB members and also bought some on eBay. FAs only check the dates and it seems they have gotten a little more picky about that. But who knows, could be a particular crew we have encountered.

 

I checked it out & im in. So who knows... Not too big of a deal, I was just wondering. thanks!
