Just booked my flight for super bowl weekend.. Going to be going to the SCI show at Mandalay Bay Saturday and staying in town to watch the game Sunday. I will be by my self, no wife this trip so trying to decide what cheapish hotel to stay in.. Ive stayed at flamingo before and really like it.,. I have heard ballys is pretty nice tho.. I really like the locations on the strip of these two.. Luxor seems to be a cool hotel and is near the show i will be going to but far from everything else.. So probably narrowing it down to Ballys or Flamingo.. Which would you choose..

If is it a standard room, it will be fairly small. In it's former life, it was a Holiday Inn, so if you picture a room there, you can picture what you will probably get there. We have stayed there several times. I'm no room snob. All I need is a clean room and a working shower.

Agree with reen1962. I stayed there once for work and the room was clean, fairly standard, but felt a little small. Great location though. Prime real estate, center strip.

I've never stayed at the Flamingo or Bally's. I have stayed at Luxor a few times and it's also pretty standard stuff. Nothing to get too excited about, but not much to complain about either. The tower rooms are a little nicer, but you've got to stay in the pyramid at least once, just to say you have. :) It's close to all the places on the south strip (Mandalay Bay, Excalibur, MGM, NYNY, Tropicana). Different neighborhood than Harrah's, but still, fun to be had.

All the lower end CET rooms are pretty comparable.

Bally's will be the biggest of the 3, Harrah's the smallest. Flamingo has the best pool but that doesn't mean much in February methinks. If I were you I'd take the best deal among the 3 unless location or room size is a really big issue.

As for Luxor, it is trickier to compare. Were you looking at prices for Pyramid or Tower Rooms? I still haven't stayed in a pyramid room. The tower room's main feature over the other hotels listed would be a separate shower and tub. Other than that it is just price and location. Bear in mind that Luxor may seem WAY south, but thanks to the Tram you can get to NYNY pretty fast. What is the everything else it will be far away from?

For me, it's between Flamingo and Harrahs. I've stayed at Flamingo and while it's a little outdated, I had no issues with it. I prefer the Harrahs casino BY FAR, but I haven't stayed there, so I can't comment on the rooms. How are the prices compared to the Linq? I'd guess the Linq would only be slightly more and would be a far better option. If not, I'm leaning towards Harrahs.

I haven't stayed at the Linq since the renovation, but my understanding is they kept the old style heating/cooling units over central air. Did they at least put better ones in with proper thermostats? I found those units pretty terrible the one time I stayed at IP, and it was in the cold months too. Just having a cooling fan on can work for summer, but trying to heat the rooms on a colder night was an adventure in the too hot / too colds.

So I know it wasn't even in my question or post but I ended up booking 2 nights at NYNY and 1 night at a Aria.

The two nights at NYNY keep me pretty close to the convention and I can walk across the street and play poker at MGM. And I've always wanted to stay at Aria. I was able to book those two hotels for same price as Ballys or flamingo. It may have even been 40$ cheaper. Plus now I get to stay at two resorts I've never stayed at.

I used to enjoy the Flamingo Go rooms.

I've heard of people spending their entire trips never seeing the outside of the Luxor...

I'd vote 1) Bally's, 2) Luxor, 3) Flamingo. You probably won't go wrong at either, but you should consider The Linq as well.

If the cost is comparable, I would choose Bally's first, although I've had very good luck at Flamingo.

Have stayed in all 4 properties over the last couple years...Ballys in June, Luxor in November. Ballys is nicest room NO contest--even the north tower that was remodeled 10 years ago, HUGE & centrally located. The other properties are fine, nothing special--nothing bad, either.

Ballys has the best rooms especially if you get a Jubilee room. They are newly renovated and pretty big. My next choice would be Linq then Harrahs. Both have small rooms but the location can't be beat. The Linq is one of my favorite places to gamble now.

    Famingo or Harrahs for price...

I prefer the Flamingo slightly with a Go Room.
