Thinking of doing the High Roller ferris wheel thing next week. they have lots of rates and the two I am interested in is the "open bar" ones. during the day its 37 dollars a person and at night its 52 dollars a person.

it says all you can drink in that time. but if each car holds 40 people, the ride is only 30 minutes and every person gets a drink, i see there only being enough time to get served one drink, maybe 2.

Can someone shed some light on how that works? Anyone successfully get 4, 5 or even 6 drinks?

Though the cars can hold 40 people, they're usually holding 10 to 15. I've seen some bigger groups in bar cars - but those people were together as a group. What staff does is they roll a portable bar cart into a car and serve drinks from it. So, they usually just do the basics unless a group has ordered something special in advance.

I had it last August and will confirm the bartender took care of about 15-18 people, I had jack and coke, drank 3 walked off with 1 more fresh one to go. Nothing special but it was serviceable

You can get a deal on LivingSocial to save a few bucks. I did the open bar and had no problem getting about 4 during the trip and then getting one for the road. Keep it simple I say...shots, rum & coke, vodka soda, etc... We all got beer to go. Was probably around 12 people in the pod.

I did it a couple months ago, 30-something per person for nighttime open bar ride via living social, about a dozen people in the pod, had three drinks and took a fourth for the road.

Edit: I should add that once everyone is initially served, there isn't really a line anymore, just people occasionally coming up for another. If you want to stand there and pound half a dozen or more drinks, you can easily do so.

We went at midnight and had maybe 8 people in our car. Easily got 3-4 drinks each. These aren't casino drinks either...heavy pours from the bartender.

I probably wouldn't pay full price but the $30 living social deal is a good one. Would do it again.

You know, I wasn't going to do this again on my upcoming trip, but the pounding this encourages maybe I will again...

In a toilet or urinal, before or after your ride.

    It's only 30 minutes long.

I did this a month ago. I have a Seven Stars card and once you reach Diamond Aspiration 2 you get 4 free tickets for the open bar, so I did not purchase tickets. The groupon passes are only valid during a specific time period, I cant remember but it was something like 8pm-10pm, and the employee said that the open bar pods are very crowded during that time. We went at 8pm and there was a line of about 40 people for the open bar, and every 4th or 5th pod is an open bar pod. They max out each cabin at 18-20 people, So we had to wait about 10 pods to get on. Our bartender wasn't the fastest, so I would say some people didn't get a drink until 5-7 minutes into the ride, but after that there was never a line for a drink, and you can take your last drink to go, but remember that the bartender stops serving about 3 minutes before the ride ends. The drink selection was somewhat limited....I ordered a red bull and grey goose and they didn't have either of those. Only vodka was Absolut.

We did the open bar car over St Paddy's Day this year via Groupon. We had maybe a dozen people in the car. I tipped $5 for the first drink and had heavy pours and attention the rest of the way...I think I got 4, maybe 5. As everyone said a line at the beginning, then very easy to get served. Nothing but rail drinks and not a lot of variety at that, the "bar" is a roll-on cart, but our bartender was very creative and mixed a couple of very good "specials". I thought it was worth it, we got on about half an hour after sundown and it was a great way to start our trip.

We did this last year. Only four of us were in the car. And all of us including the bartender were from the East Coast, so we had a great time. We each had 4 in the car and she sent us off w/two a piece.

In that 30 minutes you could get sudden stomach pains from a buffet and have to GO...NOW!

Did this last week with the living social deal + coupon we had via email for $40 for two 10p-1a. Four of us used this so $60 up front...got stuck with two bachelorette parties...tipped Orlando 40 bucks to take care of us and we got 7 rounds and 1 to go without a problem... 32 drinks for $120 all in is a great deal to me. Also, he had Ketel One and Patron under the bar which he used for folks who tipped...which, in our cabin, was only my group of four. The non-tippers kept demanding shots of Patron and he would smile and pour them Montezuma. We laughed every time.
