    My Trip Report

I did a live report on a poker related site, 6/25-6/30. I'm going to copy my posts from there here as I feel I've got some good info from this site and wanted to share.

I've been reading and enjoying the LVL forum for quite some time now, particularly most of the trip reports. I figured I tried to give something back to this forum. Don’t expect any clubbing, strip clubs or high rolling from this, I’m also probably the only person in the world that drinks less while on vacation in Vegas, drinking gets in the way of gambling. Do expect 16-18 hours of non stop gambling, sports betting, $1/$2 NL and some VP and craps thrown in to relax.

I know most people hate people that start these a week early. In addition I'm going to be upfront and admit that this probably won't be a live trip report, maybe some minimal updates but will put in a trip summary at the end. The main point of this is to list trip goals and itinerary.

First a bit about myself. I’m in my mid 30s professional working in operations management in the oil and gas field in Houston originally from Buffalo, NY. I have an 8 month old son, real life changer, makes me wonder why I waited so long to start a family. I have an awesome wife who also works in the same field, married almost 10 years. She’s very understanding and is giving me a pass to make a solo trip to be a degenerate gambler in the middle of the desert, while she’s stuck with the kid alone, after over a year away.

Even though me and the wife are very comfortable financially we are both cheapos. I’m staying at the Main Street Station on a partial comp, it’s clean quiet and my home away from home in Vegas. Parking is easy, it’s an easy walk to Fremont but away from of the mess when you want to get back and regroup. I have the American Casino Guide and will be making some free play/match play coupon runs.

My gambling generally consists of me waking up getting a coffee, going to the sportsbook doing my research and making my plays for the day, generally $500 - $1000 in play, shopping lines online for the books downtown. I’ll then usually head out for a long day playing poker around town. I do try to stay and play downtown but will hit the strip if the games suck downtown. Will play pretty much 12-14 hours with breaks for meals and to change rooms occasionally. I’ll head back to the Main Street Station, play some full pay VP at there bar and enjoy a few micro brews. I’ll then drop maybe $100-$200 at the craps table and call it a night. I’ve made 7 trips and never had a losing trip, only one where I loss playing poker but somehow made it up at craps, also never lost at the sportsbook.

    Trip Goals

    - try to grind a profit playing $1/$2 NL
-Friday morning use American Casino Guide (ACG) coupon at D which gives up $100 in free play for $10,000 cash in at VP, plan to grind this out playing $1 bonus poker at ther bar upstairs, hope to grind it out in 4-5 hours and won’t dump more that $300
    [IMG]

    - Coupon whoring matchplays and free plays at Las Vegas Club, Plaza, Golden Gate and D
coupon whoring on the wrong side of town at Jerry’s Nugget and Lucky’s Club, also hit up the sportsbook at Jerry’s one of the only independent books left in town, $3 craps at both with pics of both of these places
    [IMG]

    - maybe hit up this place for a drink as it's across the street from Jerry's Nugget
    [IMG]

    - Friday night poker on strip - Venetian most likely

    - coupon whoring Orleans, Gold Coast, Palms

    Food
    - hit up breakfast at Dupars at Golden Gate at least twice for corned beef hash (don’t understand why I can’t get this in Texas but can on the west and east coast)

    - Redwood Grille at the Cal Casino for porterhouse special and at least one old fashioned

    - Triple George Grill sit at bar and eat eat pot roast and at least one of there awesome whiskey cocktails
    [IMG]

    - late night saimen off menu special at triple 7 brewhouse at MSS and at Aloha Specialities
    [IMG]

    - try poke somewhere suggestions welcome
    -breakfast at the D grille
    - lunch at Ping Pang Pong or Chinatown
    - dessert at Jerry’s Coffee Shop at Jerry’s Nugget

I’ll try post shoe picks and maybe a few picks from some previous trips shortly.

At the airport 9:30 flight out of Houston. Wanted to tuck the kid in before I left.

No coupon whoring tonight. Most likely a little VP at Main Street Station (MSS) bar and might degen a little at craps, but Nit style. If I'm really juice may venture to Binions or GN for a game.

Sorry for pic quality but this was from my last trip to Vegas during the MGM. $1000+ pot which is big for Da Nit. Drunk who had somehow amassed over $2K. I hope the games are as good this time.[/QUOTE]

Bad beat, they made me check my carry on, no bag fee though so +EV.

I did tip shuttle driver at car lot a $5 when he dropped me off so I hope my good luck karma starts in Vegas.

Down -$270 mostly from the craps pit seen below at MSS. -$26 in free play and table match plays coupon whoring at Plaza, Las Vegas Club and Downtown Grand.

Going to grind promo loss at Downtown Grand either win $100 and stop or down $60 and get $30 in free play tomorrow.

Nitty degen mode is in full effect.

Ride for next few days, $130 out the door.

Visibility sucks and at 113 degrees convertible is pointless.

It's hard out there for a Nit. 1-5 -$445 on baseball. My total style had been getting a lot winners just bad luck.

-$546 on poker put ~4.5 hour session at the Orleans. Game wasn't bad but I'm rusty. Loss ~$500 pot to with AQ to a solid player. Flopped TPTK but loss to well disguised straight.

Game was actually had a bad loose player in the game that kept winning. I donated around $250 to him where I called a $25 raise preflop. Flop was all spades 7 high. I went all-in after a $50 raise from another player. Loose bad player had red Aces, calls and they hold up.

I'm still having fun it's good to get away solo. It would be nice to grind a winning trip.

Met Movado very cool guy. He was crushing $4/$8, maybe he gives lessons?

On AQ hand from two posts ago I should mention he hit the straight on the turn after I made close to pot size raise. I'm a nit and didn't want the flush draw to get there.

Variance is catching up with me along with the rust on my game. I played at Binions it's really gone down hill, like playing at the bus station. -$200 in 1 hour. Lost my stack with PP Kings. Rivered a boat with 3 queens on the board. Guy had the case queen, details to come later.

Alright to take it a little slower today and try to stop some of the bleeding.

Heading to Jerry's Nugget in North Las Vegas to check one of the Indy books and eat some prime rib.

If I don't get shot or stabbed I'll report back.

Will hit strip later for cash games.

Only two baseball plays to fade today.

This was on Saturday 6/26 both where winners.

Rockies Giants over 3.5 first 5
    Diamondbacks Padres over 7

Good start to the day up $44 on craps at Jerry's used free play coupon like a nit. Will probably try another go after getting some prime rib here.

Also coupon whoring all across North Vegas will keep my three fans posted.

    What a grind.

Hit up Silver Nugget up a whole 25 cents on $5 free play, Bighorn -$5 match play, Luck Club -$10 match play.

I'd hit up Jerrys again, super sketchy part of town but it's nice inside and has that old Vegas feel. Silver Nugget and to a lesser extent Luckys are terrible. Short staffed and super depressing. Bighorn while being a dump seemed to being doing things right. No surprise it was hopping, catering well to the locals of the area.

Saw some halfway decent street walkers on North Main, almost made a u turn.

About to cash my sports ticket. Double up on the Padres over and grind $1/$2 at the Nugget. Will use my free $10 in chips as well, like a true nit.
