Not talking about don't drink too much or eat too much -- that's a given that is not happening. My husband and I had a trip about 2 years ago that we both got sick as a dog. He ended up in the hospital after we got back because of pneumonia -- probably started out with the flu that he caught in Vegas - then he had an adverse reaction to the antibiotic he was given - it actually dropped his White Blood Cell count and made him sicker. I had temperature of 103-104 for several days. I've seen some recent news spots about travel and hotel/airlines about staying well and fighting bacteria on vacation.

#1 bacteria spot on planes - other than the loo, is the tray table - doesn't get cleaned well after stops.

#2 or #1 tie - the handle on the loo/john -- I try real hard not to use the plane bathroom -- sometimes my 53+ y.o. bladder will not cooperate.

I always bring travel clorox wipes now and I wipe down the seat belts, tray tables, etc.

In the hotel room - the glasses -- they do not get cleaned between use other than a wipe to make it clear and shiny --

Also the remote control they say never gets cleaned.

After seeing things on travel sites about what jackasses do to the in room coffee makers - I will spend extra on Starbucks.

The blanket bedspread never gets washed routinely between guests -- that is the first thing we fold up and throw to the floor. I am not a germaphobe - I get exposed to bad crap all the time in hospitals -- I just want to stay healthy.

Anyone else have any tips? -- Of course I always have hand sanitizer. I bring a mask for the plane just in case there is a cougher near me.

These are some good tips, vwhiten. I guess I'm lucky so far, but will take precaution now that I've read your post.

Being sick on vacation, especially in Vegas, would be a nightmare for me.

Frank, never thought about seatbelts and armrests but will now. All I've been doing lately was keeping my hands clean and trying not to rub my mouth, nose, and eyes.

I've been pretty lucky so far on not getting sick while in Vegas. *knockonwood*
But, 1 trip I did start coughing pretty good about 3 hours before I flew back. Slept all the way back, then another 8 hours after I got home(unheard of for me). Woke up feeling like crud. Running a 103 temp, all my joints hurt, etc. Not sure what I did, but body didn't like it. Guess I didn't drink enough to kill the airplane germs.

I wipe down the buttons on every machine with hand sanitizer before I start playing.

Being sick in Vegas is no fun! It's happened 2x to me in the past 9 years.

    1. If I'm feeling sick before a trip I'll load up on 1,000mg of Vitamin C and Airborne daily.
    2. I carry Hand Sanitizer with me at all times including on the plane.
    3. I try and avoid touching my Face, Mouth etc if at all possible.
    4. I wash my hands frequently and use my Hand Sanitizer after playing Slots or Handling Money etc.

I don't do this myself, but I saw somewhere that some folks wrap the hotel remote control in a bit of clear plastic wrap. Seems like an easy way to avoid a few germs.

I assume that everything I touch is filthy. I wash my hands as often as I think about it. Since we can't wrap the world in plastic wrap, that's probably the best way to avoid getting sick.

I've never been sick in Vegas and don't do anything different there than I do at home, hygiene wise.. There was one trip where I felt queezy on the flight home. I blamed it on lack of sleep because catnapping on the flight home got rid of the feeling. Felt fine when I got off the plane.

Seriously, it is easy to take this too far.

Germs abound especially while travelling but if you try to control every little thing or worry about where every thing has been something worse will happen than being sick. You won't have any fun, sick or no.

It is sensible and easy to practice good hand hygiene. Clean or sanitize after using the bathroom, before handling food, and if you are concerned, periodically throughout the day when you are out and about. If you are worried beyond that, be more conscious of where your hands go (rubbing eyes for example)

I take emergen-c and my vitamins when I can remember at home, but I make sure to take them before every plane trip and make sure I take them daily when I travel. It's the first thing I do with my morning coffee. Also like others, I have wipes and hand sanitizer. So far I haven't got sick when travelling and being sick in Vegas would really suck since I don't go often.

Listen, we don't want any part of your hippie shenanigans in here. We had one of your kind talking about wearing pool flip flops in the hotel room instead of walking around barefoot...insane. Take that paranoid ocd bs elsewhere buddy.

It actually healthy to be exposed to some germs. The more you don't expose yourself to them the more your body becomes unable to fight against them: at least that is the theory explained to me. Everyone should go to vegas and yes, you should wash your hands occassionally. More importantly though, relax, enjoy, and have a memorable Vegas vacation!

I always bring alcohol wipes and wipe down every dirty slot I use.....but the more adult beverages I consume, the more lax I get...
until eventually I am playing at a hot slime-covered slot.

Yeah, and as others have mentioned, you can only do so much.

I'm old school too and figure the best I can do is keep my immunological system strong by treating my body right. It seems to be working as I rarely get sick. But, it could just be genetics at work as well. If we don't smoke, get plenty of sleep, eat right, exercise... and generally do anything "bad" in moderation, we'll all be better off in my opinion. Simply try not to give germs a vulnerable body to invade.

Once I saw a woman at the tsa check in remove her shoes and after she walked through she took off her socks and put them in a baggie and put a new pair of socks on.. Oh but she didnt sanitize her hands after touching the old socks. What was the point?

Jeez you people and your worries. Just watch out for the bus that might hit you.

I turn off the vent fan on the airplane and I was my hands before I eat. Other than that I don't give germs a second thought.
