The Grand Poobah of Vegas is granting you one of the following wishes to "fix" Vegas.

You get ONE wish, which will you choose?

    1. All casinos return to 3:2 BJ
    2. No more resort fees
    3. Monorail from LAS to Downtown
    4. Adults only (21 or above)
    5. Flat rate taxis
    6. All casinos smoke-free

Well, if I get a wish it's to bring back the Desert Inn. Of the list:

    1. Still readily available so won't burn it on this.
    2. Just not a needle-mover for me.
    3. I'd not use it.
    4. You know, I've had far far more rude/asshole/drunk putatively adult adults than kids being a pain.
    5. We drive.
    6. Winner winner smoke-free dinner (and everything else).

The first three are all good, but 3:2 bj can still be found and resort fees can be comped, so I'll go with #3. I always stay on strip but it would be cool to be able to shoot to Fremont and back via booze soaked monorail rides.

Cool topic, you should add a poll...

Edit: if I could add my own, it would be more playable VP at the quarter level, particularly at CET props.

I'd pick no more resort fees. I'm paying more in resort fees then what I'm paying per night for my next trip at Mandalay Bay. As for my own wish, I would love an upgraded, expanded monorail system. One monorail that goes the entire strip and drops you off in front of the casinos instead of the back.

    Adults only I guess.

    1. Not urgent until 3:2 goes extinct, and even then more an annoyance on a game we were already losing.
    2. Again, they are annoying, but no guarantee life would be cheaper without em
    3. Sure, this is fine as long as the fare is reasonable. But fixes a minor annoyance.
    5. See 3.
    6. Smoke is annoying. Smokers whining about going outside is just as annoying.

I'd vote for adults only. Kids running around kills my alcoholic vibe.

I'll take the monorail from the airport to downtown.

I prefer staying on the strip but I find myself wanting to visit several off strip things near down town during the day. The whole taxi thing to and from is really tiring - it would be most awesome to hop on the monorail and hit spots off the beaten path even if some amount of walking is involved.

    1. I'd love to see this. But since there's still plenty of 3:2 available (though, much less than there was), I wouldn't waste my Vegas wish on this one.
    2. Meh. I'm perfectly capable of performing grade school arithmetic.
    3. I've never used it. And I don't stay downtown. I suppose it would be nice for my trips from the strip to downtown. But, again, not wish-worthy for me.
    4. I'd prefer that there weren't kids. But this isn't a big pet peeve for me as long as the parents aren't selfish pricks who think I need to change my behavior (in Vegas or other adult places) because of their kids. (I would, however, be 100% loyal to any airline that prohibited kids!)
    5. Since I know my way around (and have VMB to ask for the times I'm unsure), I would be hurt by flat rates. So, to hell with that.
    6. As a recovering nicotine addict (18 months!:headbang:), I'd prefer no smoking. But I think it might affect the "anything goes" vibe of Vegas. So, maybe more non-smoking areas. But I doubt I'd choose to ban it.

So, since none of the above are that big of a deal for me, I'm going to cheat and choose my own wish: get rid of the beggars and street "performers"

    Adults Only

3:2 Blackjack: Readily available off the Strip
Resort Fee: I just add the resort fee to the base rate to get the actual rate. This takes a bit of sleuthing, but I can deal with it.
Monorail: Don't care. I'm probably staying at a Station Casino and will rent a car.
    Flat Rate Taxis: (see Monorail)
Smoke Fee Casinos: Close call, but in the end I'd rather smell like smoke than have strollers bumping my ankles.

#2. I don't gamble enough to get comped rooms. I like staying at the EC but since they added resort fees I don't stay there as much, if any. Rather stay at the Boyd downtown properties since I gamble there the most and they don't have resort fees.

#6. no smoking would be very nice also but if I only could have 1 thing it would be elimination of #2.

#1 not a problem for me as I play downtown and they have 3/2 games.
#3 also not a problem since I usually rent a car so no need for a monorail for me. Same for #5.
#4 kids don't bother me as much since I try to avoid the areas with the kids and their kiddie clubs.

+1. Kids are a buzzkill when in adult Disney land.

Ahh kids on the plane. It's like snakes on a plane.

    Smoke free

I can live without all the others as I always have my hat handed to me at the BJ table and I don't care about the rest.

Thank you, Grand Poobah, for granting my one wish.

I was struggling between #3 and #6, Grand Poobah, and you are all knowing and all powerful, Grand Poobah, BUT... you, as the Grand Poobah, I'm sorry to say, Grand Poobah, is still not powerful enough to take on the mighty and evil taxi and shuttle lobbyists that have a political death grip on the transit authority. The Monorail is beyond your realm, oh mighty Grand Poobah.

    Sorry, Grand Poobah.

But you may, if I may so ask, oh Grand Poobah to grant me non-smoking casinos, Grand Poobah. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Grand Poobah.

And bless the children, Grand Poobah, they are not at fault.

I don't mean to hijack but since you bring up the smokefree thing..... In NZ we aren't allowed smoking inside any buildings period (that is public buildings, workplaces etc), so I just take it as a gimme, but are there any smoke free casino's or restaurants in vegas?

I believe all restaurants are smoke free by law.

There are no smoke free casinos but many do have non-smoking areas and/or non-smoking tables. Though there aren't separate ventilation systems or even much real delineation between the smoking and non-smoking areas. So take "no smoking" with a grain of salt while you're in the casino area.

Several hotels have made all their rooms non-smoking. Most shopping areas, lobbies and other non-gaming common areas are non-smoking. And many of the hotels without a casino are completely smoke free.

I will go with 4, especially during pool season.
