Getting super lucky, being way up, and giving it all back being stupid and chasing a bigger win...

Whenever I hit a jackpot over $30 I cash it out as I will always lose everything if I don't. In May I came home down only $3 which was a win for me as I usually given them my entire gambling allotment before the time is up. :)

Yep, done it a few times, but............. you only need to manage it once to make it all worthwhile.

I absolutely hate it when I get a big hand pay the first day of my stay. I know I'll blow it all. Always have. When I've hit big ones the last day or two of my stays I've had the discipline to bank them. The $2K slot hit I had at the airport in May is still safe!

You're not alone. You are among degenerate friends!

Usually I get in a big hole, then hit big and even up by the end of the trip...
ONCE I was up $1000 from craps on the first night, then the second night I hit a $4000 Royal...and basically never looked back (I came home with $4000 profit)

It happens a lot, but for me all my swings usually take place at the same table/game and in a short amount of time. I'll come off a hot roll in craps and try to press my bets with the same aggressive strategy on the next shooter and it almost never goes well. Or, I'll win a big pot in a NL game right after sitting down and piss away my stack playing. It's like a reverse tilting.

I get too excited over wins I think. I ride too high thinking the good run will go longer than it will. But I have gotten better and more disciplined since I've started gambling. Coming home from Vegas after eating and drinking the whole trip and being even or up a little feels really good.

Even though Vegas is hands down my favorite place to gamble and visit, I'm grateful for regional casinos and poker rooms. Not having the endless gambling options within walking distance like Vegas has helps me hold onto my profits. It's a lot easier to leave up when I'm not staying above the casino ::rolleyes2: Bringing my wife to Vegas actually helps me manage my bankroll. It can be annoying like when she whispers how much is in my rack, but it's brought me back down to Earth on numerous occasions.

Always happens to me. A matter of fact last trip was actually a winning trip, because I hit two hand pays on my last day. No time to give it back. Having said that, the way I see it is it's their money and Im in Vegas to have fun. Sorry, but I'm not gonna change my trip just to bring back 2k. I guess it's because I go to Vegas to have fun not make money.

Happens all the time. Easy to start playing big with the casinos money, hard to turn that back off when it's all yours again!

I guess it's just how the human psyche works; but I feel worse when I lost the significant amount that I won, than when I lose even more after I've already lost.

I can identify. Happened my last trip. Gradually made my way back over the next three days, but you can;t make up for lost money or time.

I think we've all been there.
1 trip I hit 2 quads in an hour at UTH on my first day. Gave almost half of it back before I came to my senses, and walked.
