I have a huge work function in Vegas in a few months. Don't have all the details yet, but we have to share a room with someone else. The rooms are on the company, and I expect the rooms to be the lowest grade of room at each hotel. I believe we will be able to choose which hotel to stay at. The meetings will likely be at Mandalay Bay and MGM.

    My question is this:

Of these hotels, which of them would have the biggest, most comfortable, quietest base-level room? This hotel list is not final, so a "top three" would probably be best.

    Cosmopolitan
    MGM Grand
    Signature
    Venetian
    Mandalay Bay
    Delano
    Bellagio

Delano, if you can. You get a true suite so someone could sleep on the couch in the living room if it comes to that, and you get the extra half-crapper, plus the main bath has a separate WC.

Delano is probably the best location since your conf is at Mandaly Bay with the best Room in that list. I mean preferably I would stay at Cosmo but you'd have to commute a little bit for the conference. same reaso nas for Venetian.

I don't know anything about Delano

But I can say that Venetian will accommodate two people comfortably. My buddy and I shared a room over SB weekend and with the dual sinks and sunken living room you have quite a bit of space.

Wow....odd for a company to make employees share a room. Unless I knew who I'd be bunking with very well, I'd probably spring for my own room.

If they have the money to put you in one of those places it's odd they would make you share a room.

I would think a single at Luxor or NY or MC would be preferable for me than sharing with someone I barely know at a better hotel

Agreed. I don't think the shareholders would care whether we got rooms for $200 a night or twice as many for $100 a night.

I know, right? Every other time I've traveled with them its been one-to-a-room. This particular conference is huge and will have well over 10K employees there, so I guess that's why.

Believe me I'm thinking about it. But I also like the idea of not paying a cent rather than hundreds of dollars for the privilege of working in Las Vegas. I'll probably stay a few days after to have fun, but I'm already going to Vegas a month before so my funds are potentially a little tighter than I'd like.

My firm once did a team building retreat where they wanted everyone to share a room. There were very few women and I didn't know the woman I was paired with. Too old to share a room. I got my own room.

Delano for sure!! Perhaps try for 2 bedroom, but at the very least one could flip for the couch in the basic suite and you have 1.5 bathrooms! It's a beautiful property and very quiet and makes sense if you are at Mandalay.

I'd rule out Mandalay Bay. If you are sharing a room with someone else who isn't your significant other, it will be awkward. There is a window in the hallway looking into the bathroom that is frosted but with lines. There is no privacy...unless they've changed that, but I don't think they have.

Another vote for Delano. I've stayed there a couple of times and its very comfortable and quiet. The half bath will make it easier to get ready in the morning. Also just having a real sitting area will make it feel a little more homey. Staying at the same hotel as your work function will make it easier if you want to head back to your room briefly between meetings or sessions.

That window is still there, maybe with the room refurb. they'll change it up?

First off, suggestions to stay at Venetian in my mind are crazy. It would require a cab or some transportation to get to work.

While working at M-Bay, I would go for Delano. Most probably would have a suite. Keep in mind that most (not all) suites have a king bed vs two queens. The best part of the suite is that if one perosn is up late, etc they can go out in the living room. Worth lots of bucks right there.

Delano to MBay is still a bit of a hike, though you can do some of it via the tram to Excal, but not the best option.

Bellagio, Cosmo, Venetian are just too far from your work/meetings. If you get a break for an hour or so, you can NOT go back to your room.

The Delano is at Mandalay Bay... It's less than a 5 minute walk from your room at the Delano to the casino in Mandalay Bay.

I read that Walmart requires its managers to bunk up on business trips.

Still out of pocket for most of the cost of the room.
