I just got back from a 3-night stay at Wynn and the question is: Was I under-comped for the trip? Because I get the feeling like I was. I'm asking because 99% of my comps around Vegas has been on table games. Wynn has been a mystery to me on table games, but I'd recently switched over to slots just to slow down my play overall. Since it's easier to track, it was easier to do the math, so here goes. I had 19,700 slot points (some mild table play on top of that, maybe $300 Theo) over 3 days. At Wynn $1.50 = 1 Point. So just about $30,000 coin-in on slots (equivalent to about $120,000 coin in on VP by same calcs). So by my calcs, my theo should be somewhere around/just above $3,000 theo. I asked to have $600 in dining removed. The host offered to cover $100. Does that sound low or right?
I assumed the room was comped upfront? What kind of room/suite was it? Did you have any freeplay upfront? I haven’t figured out their points-per-dollar calculations for VP. They seem to reward high denomination and low variance games more than the others. For example, STP (and the like) does not earn as many points per dollar as the same game would in a non-gimmick version. And $5+ machines earn more points/$ than lower denomination games, even though they usually have significantly better paytables than their quarter counterparts. And the $5 games in the high limit room earn you more points than the $5 games on the floor. So figuring out one’s coin in when playing VP at Wynn is pretty difficult. But I digress. $100 does sound a little stingy if you were just in a regular Resort Tower room and didn’t have any freeplay - especially when factoring in your table play. But then, Wynn usually is a little stingy when doling out the comps. My last few trips I’ve also noticed that my host makes a point of talking about how much I won or lost. When I’ve lost big, she’s really taken care of me. Small-medium losses or wins…not so much.
$1,000 a night in theo. Expect $300 a night in comps max. Subtract the nightly comp value of the room ( I have no idea what that is at Wynn). You were asking for $200 a night in dining on top of that.
Yeah, I don't think I was ever getting $600. I didn't make that very clear. But momma always said you never get what you don't ask for. I guess when I was originally proposing the question in this thread I was guessing somewhere between $300-400 would be taken off ($100-125) night and seeing if it was just the host being stingy.
I just got back from a week of playing slots at the Wynn and felt that I was getting undercomped as well. However, after reading this thread, I am thinking I was probably comped about the right amount. I had 28,700 in Red Card points over the 7 days which translates into $43,000 coin-in or $4300 theo. If all I can expect is 30% of this amount, then that would work out to about $1300 in comps. They ended up comping me my room for the whole week @ $150 Su-Th and $200 Fr-Sa. The host said that they would add in $100 in FB comps but, when I went to check out the following morning, this part of the comp wasn't honored. My room comp works out to $1150 in value so the $100 FB comp would have been appropriate (had they honored it). My host once told me that I would need to earn 5000 points/day in order to earn free room comps. At $7500 coin-in, $750 theo, this works out to $225/day in comps which would just about cover the weekend room rate and the daily resort fee.
I just returned from a trip and can tell you what I got. I booked strictly through casino marketing. It was the summer8 promo which included: 3 nights comped in a resort room (Encore), 2 buffets and $300 in FreePlay. Ended up $1400 and accumulated a total of 10,000 points (chekced in 6/2 @ 8:30pm & out 6/5 @5:00 am). My room charges totalled $760 (SW Steak rocks). The host I work with took an additonal $100 of my bill. Which I can't bitch about. Now a bit of background, I called the hotel about two years ago looking for free rooms/casino rate and was referred to a host to see if they could help. I had some history from a previous trip so she comped me two weekday nights upfront and casino rate for a Friday night, which came off the back end. I don't know if she's been officially assigned to me (doubt it- am not a big player albeit I take 2-3 trips per year) and I have never met her. But, I have her number/email and after check out, I message her from the airport and in a few days she lets me know what she was able to take off. This has been my practice for the last two years or so. On one trip, the on-duty night host reviewed my play- however I thought I was entitled to more, emailed her and she took more off my bill. So the bottom line is that for a smaller player like myself I had to take the effort to build a relationship with someone and it seems to have been worth it.
These days I've been told by a host at Wynn they want 6k points a day just for one of their regular rooms so for a 3 night comp so 18,000 points before any food is comped. However before my favorite host left Wynn I know from him they have some leeway on giving more comps then the usual formula if they are trying to develop a relationship with a player, so it's good to work with a host at Wynn.
Last visit was after earning about 20,000 points over two nights (10,000 points per day)... Upfront offer was tower suites room, limo, and $100 fb per day. Best offer to date for similar play was the same but with $200 fb per day. It sounds like you were comped appropriately.
