    :)

Well, Canada is out for our late summer getaway, so I guess we're spending Uncle Sam dollar for Uncle Sam dollar. We've decided to hit eastern Washington and the lower panhandle. I might drive up in advance since my schedule is more flexible and it's a convenient excuse for me to get in some golf in Bend on the way! Plus I can haul our bikes up as the trail system up that way looks awesome. Day trip down to Pullman for Cougar Gold and a round at Palouse Ridge. Check out the local wine scene. Pop over the border and golf at Circling Raven or Gosser. Really didn't have that wedge of the PNW on our radar screen when planning started. But it's pretty easy to get there via Alaska Air from SBA and that was one of the trigger points since it's only going to be a four- or five-night span up there.

The question is a way for the OP to tell us about his trip. He's traveled enough to know where the answers lay.

Golf losses, if any, are paid in pesos

If one is paying to play the Coeur d'Alene course then they better have SoCal $$$$.
Circling Raven and Palouse Ridge are so much better tracks and better deals.
Will you get to Gamble Ken? Have you played it yet?

M, I was in Brewster for a pre-opening look-see, was able to tear some holes in a few fairways. I'm definitely planning a day trip over unless I drive and then I'll route through on the way.

Apt statement on Coeur. Not really sure why it is assumed that So Cal somehow spikes all travel price levels. I have a friend at Raven and will do Palouse before loading up on tins of Cougar Gold.

It's been about 8 years since I've played Circling Raven - really liked the track. Any thoughts on making it up to Nick Faldo's new track in northern Montana (Wilderness Club)? Come to think of it, I am not really recommending it. I think it is a bit overrated, and, for now, underdeveloped (and a bit out of the way, too). Enjoy!

You mean the Lee Schmidt/Brian Curley track??? It's a fine play but given where it is, etc., def. some hype going on. Too far out there for a trip of this nature. And apparently I need to remember it can't be all golf all the time. ;)

Yep - Schmidt/Curley track at Eureka. I am assuming that Nick Faldo simply put his name on the design sheet since he probably has a big investment there! Circling Raven is in Worley, Idaho, and has an attached casino with the hotel.

I have only had one eighteen hole round in 2015 (about eight 9 - 13 holers though on my course). When July hits, though - its on!! (School teacher). I love golfing vicariously through you Ken!

I'd also like to get in Gosser while up that way. Another reason to drive up in advance, I'm thinking. I'll do Bend on the way. Gamble. Do the troika of CR, Gosser and Coeur. Then when Terri gets there I only make her golf once! Oh, and then I'll hit a game at Autzen on the way back. This is sounding better and better all the time!!

After my last 18 -- last weekend at Sandpiper -- I was thinking about never playing again. lol

If you need a partner at Palouse Ridge I'd love to golf with you. It's about two hours away and I still have yet to play up there.

Either way, have a great trip and I'm sure you'll enjoy it up here.

How about Wine Valley in Walla Walla?

Let's touch bases on this in a few weeks because by then I'll have figured out if I'm road tripping -- which would get me to Wine Valley -- or if I'm flying to Spokane with Terri. I'm waiting to hear from a few clients on any editorial needs.

That works for me, that cuts the driving time down by more than half and I get 50% off because they're partnered with the course I have a membership with.

Speaking of canceling trips, we're likely going to have to cancel our 3 week Europe trip this summer.

It's not usually a good idea to take a 3 week vacation right after buying a new business.
