I have left Vegas with more than 10k before. All I did was ask the ba/virgin staff at the gate if they could call someone from customs as I have something to declare. I am given a form to complete, wait ten minutes for them to turn up and then they show absolutely no interest and take the form.

Leaving Vegas with money is not the problem, it is the taking it in. I took about $20K in and declared it, and now I get questioned everytime I go to the states. The customs boys in Vegas are no problem, but I've had trouble at JFK and Miami. Much easier to just wire it, my bank charges £35 fee to send and Bellagio re wire back FOC.

If you do this and customs finds the money they will seize it and you will have little to no chance of getting back.

Yeah, I don't think it is a very good idea to lie on a customs form. There is nothing illegal about having more than $10k so I don't know why someone would suggest not to declare it.

I would just wire the money into the cage.

I have done both (front money and taking cash) from the UK. The one time I DID have over $10k in cash coming over and didn't tick the box, customs did stop me and I just had to fill in an extra form. It was no big deal and never had a problem when visiting the US since. Now I just send the front money as it's less hassle. You can use it for spending money as too, if you cash chips slowly at the cage for under $1k at a time.

My brother did FM for his first trip to Bellagio. He wired 10k. We got to the casino and went to play craps. Took the cage 1 hr to find his wire. Then every time he wanted to pull more out was 5-10 minutes plus.

    He brings cash now.
