I would appreciate any information on the Monte Carlo -first stay coming up. Room, buffet, pool, exercise room, reviews. Thanks in advance!
I've probably had at least 10 stays there. I personally like it. Normal rooms are smallish but typically well kept although a few are starting to show their age. If you have a chance to upgrade to a Monoco Suite (not really a suite, just a larger room with a nicer bathroom and an extra 1/2 bath) for a good price, I'd do it. Love the pool, I think its a hidden gem on the Strip. They have a lazy river and wave pool. I'd definitely stay away from the Buffet, its not good. Hit up Diablos for some good (but overpriced) Mexican...their margaritas are very good. They have a good happy hour you could take advantage of. We try and hit The Pub each trip. Good food, great beer selection, good prices. We also like 800 Degrees pizza place out front for a good lunch. Casino is kinda boring but the drink service is usually top notch. All in all, we like the place. Although we have stayed elsewhere the last two trips due to 6/5 BJ conditions and some grumpy dealers we ran into.
Loved playing at MC when we stayed at Aria 2 years ago so I gave MC a try this past December. We usually book suites, so I booked the Diamond Suite for 4 nights. This room was horrible, headboard fallen off the wall and propped up behind the bed, bathroom was so gross. I understand they have updated some of the regular rooms and maybe even some of the other suites, I don't know. Poor choice of restaurants (except diablos and I know they have opened up a few more strip facing places now), cafe closed at 3pm, ended up having to eat in the food court, and no 24 hour room service was a bad bummer for me. went down for Starbucks at 7:30 the first morning, closed. Ended up booking somewhere else after the first night. The casino has changed in the past 2 years and isnt as fun as it used to be. Really excited they are rebranding this hotel and hope they make some BIG changes to it because I love the location(actually probably my favorite on the strip for easy access, and you cant beat the tram that runs all the way to the Bellagio! I know my experience is very different from others, just my opinion, some people love it.
Stayed there several times, I agree the rooms are in need of a redo but they are okay don't spend a lot of time in them anyways. The buffet is avoidable not worth the price, they do give away a lot of meals there when staying for free it not bad. Definitely go to The Pub plenty of beer choices and good food. Double Barrel out from has decent food also. Wife and kids (adults) liked the pool nothing from me I did not visit it for long. The casino is too quiet and really needs a top to bottom renovation. I know casinos are full of smoke and booze but I walked into las trip did not stay there that time and it really had a bad odor. Could not stand the smell and left right away. It will be interesting to see it after the makeover.
Stayed there two weeks ago. The pool area is fantastic. Ate the buffet (two freebies included) and thought it was fine for lunch. I probably wouldn't pay for it, but I typically try to avoid paying for any F&B in vegas. I thought the casino was very busy for mid week. good music on the floor and seemingly lots of activity.
We stay there a couple times a year. Some rooms are in better shape than others. The self parking is close to check in and the elevators are close to registration and the pool so you do not have to walk thru the casino. Ask for a high floor with a pool view and if you can get the 31st floor, it has wi fi. The pool is a big plus, there is shade and sun, a lazy river (we take are own rafts) and wave pool which are a lot of fun. The exercise room is good also, not many use it. The buffet is just basic food, sometimes better than other times. If you just want to eat and not enjoy a fine dining experience, the buffet is fine. The location is great with easy access to Aria. The front on the strip is fun also with lots of places to sit, people watch and listen to music. The resort fee at least gets you a newspaper, coffee and water. They also give you two coupons for free coffee or drinks.
I've stayed there twice. The rooms are decent, not fancy, but I've never had any issues. I do like the location. It's easy to hop the tram to Bellagio. I agree with DavidandNatie about the buffet. Pretty basic stuff, but I can always find something to eat and leave full. I really like 800 Degrees Pizza and it's a good place to sit outside and people watch.
I like staying at monte carlo nothing fancy and I have never had a bad experience I love the location, (quick tram ride to bellagio), or short walk to aria and love the pool area and the coffee maker in the room
One other thing to consider about MC for the next year is the construction on the arena and park. Getting in and out via cab or rental car is a pain.
I stayed twice on MyVegas points. The room was one of the shabby ones. I didn't care. I loved the poker room and especially the 2-6 spread limit game. I do find that at times it is dominated with locals who really outplay me. Some I recognize now after playing there a few visits. They had a deal that with so much play, they offered a freeroll tournament on the next week. So, while I was there, I worked to get my hours in. The 2-6 game was ready to break. There were only three of us. I needed one more hour. I suggested that we play Pineapple and the other two agreed. So, they dealt that game. Two more joined us. It was a good bit of fun. I liked that they were flexible in deciding what tooffer. I love the lazy river. It is the best exercise I know. I went early in the morning, when it opened, did not rent a tube and just swam as it rushed me around. It exercised many muscles that were not used just with the walking in Vegas. I thought I'd book a week there, but the prices are always pretty high for my budget. I tried to get one night there using MyVegas points, but I could never connect with the reward that would have fit my schedule. I did connect with Excalibur and the price for the following week was very low, $22 AND $22 resort fee. The weekend night I needed was $70 plus $22. For $10 anyone can use the Monte Carlo pool, and it may be that the concierge at the Excalibur can arrange for me to get in free in the early morning for an hour or so. So I expect to do that in November. For buffets it is not far to walk inside to the Aria buffet. I like that one as it fits my diet. I'll use up my other two rewards points in September and again in November on those buffet awards. And I'll probably eat lunch there other days as well. Live poker room points don't work there. I used mine last time for the Monte Carlo breakfast buffet. It was fine. Here is the report I made last year on my stay [http://vegasbirthdaybash.blogspot.com/2014/11/tr-snippet-monte-carlo-first-day.html I stayed at Mandalay Bay the next night but had this experience at the Monte Carlo the night after that: http://vegasbirthdaybash.blogspot.com/2014/11/tr-snippet-second-day-at-mandalay-bay.html Iknow you already know about the shuttle to Bellagio. Oh, one advantage over Excalibur is that they do not have an early check in fee at Monte Carlo. If there is a room, it is assigned. Also, they did extend checkout an hour for free when I asked. from 11 to 12.
We stayed at the MC last June. We stuffed 4 guys into the standard room and felt it was fine for our needs. The pool is very nice; though it tends to be shaded by other buildings early in the afternoon. The tram access to some of the other casinos is a nice bonus. We liked the food at Brand Steakhouse and Yusho. The Pub has a great selection of craft beers and pretty good food. We also liked hanging out at the Ignite Lounge when done gambling for the evening. I was very impressed with the hotel for the money we paid.
Stayed in a Diamond Suite a couple of years ago. It was a little worn but serviceable. Great placement not too far from the elevators. The service at check-in and housekeeping was very good. Wasn't too thrilled with the choice of restaurants but that has expanded since then. We enjoyed watching football at the pub. The casino was crowded and ok. Had a decent vibe but the CW service on the slots/VP wasn't too great. It's fairly middle of the road. Having the correct level of expectations goes a long way toward the satisfaction level. We liked it and would return if we wanted to hang around that part of the strip.
Very nice pool area! They have a wave pool, a lazy river and some smaller pools for relaxing by. Lots of palm trees too! IMO, these pools are great for relaxing and having fun. I love how the MC has a tram that brings you up to the Bellagio.
No, if you are staying at any Mlife propery, you can redeem the reward. I think I probably do redeem it at the Excalibur Mlife desk, howerer. And I can't cneck out of a one night stand and then buy a buffet for that night. I have to go to the desk before I am checked out to qualify. So on some trip I could grab a couple cheap Circus Circus nights for cash and redeem 3 buffet rewards while I stay there.
Just concluded a four night stay at Monte Carlo (first time) this past weekend and was pleased. Chose Monte Carlo due to the location and the price they offered. I would agree with the general consensus that the rooms are due for a refresh, but the room we had (High Floor) was clean and comfortable to sleep in which is all I can ask for while in Las Vegas. The only restaurant we ate at within the property (other than Starbucks) was The Pub which was very good. I have walked by this restaurant 100 times on previous trips and decided to take my brother (local resident) there for his birthday. It was a good decision as the food was good, price was reasonable and the beer selection practically endless. I would love to go back during football season for an afternoon of games. We did spend 1 1/2 hours at the pool on Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, my fair complexion makes spending more time in the sun the largest gamble I make while in LV. We were able to connect to the in-room Wifi (listed as Cox-Hospitality). The first day (Friday) it was painfully slow; however on Saturday and Sunday the speed was better although still not fast. Spent most of our time gambling at Aria since it was a central location to a group of us traveling together so I can't really comment on the Casino in Monte Carlo other than it seemed to be steadily busy throughout the weekend. Never crowded, but never empty either. I also used the Fitness Center in the Spa on Friday morning at 7am (I always wake up early the first day) and it was better than I expected. It was also pretty active for that time of the morning. I would definitely stay at the Monte Carlo again if the price is reasonable. The location can't be beat.
I stay at MC a few times per year. Can't beat the location and staff is always friendly and helpful. It's not huge compared to MGM, Aria, ect.. but that's something I like about it. I'm actually not a huge fan of the pool area so normally stay at MGM Grand in pool season. Sambalate coffee on the strip side is an amazing coffee house and make a trip there every morning no matter if I'm staying at MC or somewhere else.
Just got back from a two night stay. They're still working on getting wi-fi up and running throughout all the rooms. I was on floor 19 and only picked up a signal a handful of times. Connected twice for about 10min, then lost the signal. The 4g on my phone had a stronger signal than what I remembered from last time. They are slowly getting there, but I still couldn't get them to wipe away the resort fees.
