Hey all, and particularly V/P experts....(Dailun/ VegasChic and CasinoQueen pop into mind)

Since I gave the V/P some drop in play last time I was in town, they have been firing the offers at me. The wife and I are going to be in town for independence day weekend so we decided to split up our stay between the Wynn and Palazzo. We have never stayed at the Palazzo before, so when I called to make the reservation (I was assigned a host but used the 1-800 number instead) they booked us in a king Luxury suite. When I requested a view they said it was $40 a night and then tried to upsell me on a $100+tax night prestige package to add to the room which gives us champagne, private check in, free continental breakfast, snacks through the day and drinks at night.

I'm going to call the host that has been assigned to me there and ask him if there is anything else that he can do for me, other than the free upfront rooms and free play. So my question is what should I ask for: Room upgrade, View upgrade, prestige upgrade or a limo transport from Airport? I know some of you will say all, it does hurt to ask, but I'd prefer to only ask for what is the best upgrade, bot just what's easier for him to comp upfront (if you know what I mean)

    Thanks in Advance!

Well, if it were me (and this is my opinion based on my needs, I would see if he could throw some freeplay into the comp.

If I had female companionship and wanted to "impress", I'd ask for at least a limo ride from the airport.

I don't know if you are Gold or Platinum, but there is the Gold Lounge at Venetian or Platinum lounge at Palazzo for snacks all day.

Room upgrade - the next level suite has a separate "front room"
View upgrade - would be a view facing the strip

Or, you could give the host a list of your "wants" and see what he could do. Just remember that everything that is comped up front increases the expectation that the casino will have of your play.

I've only just started there and stayed twice - so can't speak of the whole prestige experience etc.

However - one thing to be aware of - I agreed at check-in to pay for a room upgrade. At the end of my trip the host on duty told me that they couldn't comp off agreed upon upgrades or tips. They did take everything else off of my charges, but left those. Didn't say I had run out of room , specifically said it can't come off once agreed to it. Maybe they pay bonus to the check-in clerks??

Anyway - possibly take it with a grain of salt - I'm sure someone like Natedog may not be told the same thing - haha.

Just in case though, I'd book the reservation as I want it in the future and not try to upgrade at check-in anticipating to comp it off the back!

    Hope that helps!

I have stayed in a Prestige room. Granted, the room is actually just a luxury suite with access to the Prestige Lounge. If you can get it comped, by all means, do it. They have a nice area with a bar and several sitting areas with tvs, etc. The breakfast is pretty good and the ability to go for happy hour is nice. I found that I didn't use the lounge too much, mainly only popping in for diet cokes after a long night of drinking. I probably wouldn't pay the extra $100 a night, simply because I don't get much use out of it, but others say they hang out in the lounge quite a bit.

There is already some freeplay with this comp...

17 years later the need to impress is less than the "expectation level" ;)

Well, I intend of playing my normal level anyway, which usually gets me RFB..

    Good to know missus, Thanks...

On a side note, I expect I will be playing at my normal level so I'll report back what level of COMPS they offer me on the back end, I'm assuming it will be full RFB, if it's not, it's no big deal, cause I only eat/drink what I'm willing to pay for!

Any other tips? Any particular "MUST do" restaurants? Is there Jordan Cabernet available there ?

Thanks, I most likely would not be hanging out in the lounge either...so it sounds like I should shoot for limo PU + maybe a free view upgrade for the wife to enjoy?

I always pimp Bouchon, but for good reason. Bouchon is one of the top restaurants on the strip.

    Yardbird was also excellent.

Yes, I would would go the the limo and view. If you aren't going to use the lounge a lot, it isn't worth it, unless they are comping it, and even then...

Just had a look at the menu for Bouchon, they sure flog their French fries, sees as though it's the side of choice with every meal, lol!

I would HIGHLY recommend CUT- it was outstanding. Grimaldis is the go-to pizza joint- thin crust, extensive wine list. However, don't order more than 1-2 toppings as it makes the pizza crazy soggy (pointer from TBONE I found out after the fact!) and, they don't charge to the room so can't get it comped! I'm interested in trying the tasting menu at Table 10 (Emeril Lagasse) for an everyday meal- looks like it features some signature dishes and is a crazy good price at $45. Don't forget to check your slot to see if the bank you are sitting at has the drinks2you feature....works great!!!
    Have fun!!!

Guess they're cheap to make. If you go for brunch I'd order the white sausage if it's on the menu, or the hangar steak.
