Nice place, rooms very nice and new, also extremely close to Fremont st. Pool is also nice, on third floor roof. Overall for the low prices offered it I think is the best deal downtown right now. Casino is small but all the others are right nearby. Would recommend.

Nice rooms, free coffee in morning downstairs, very nice pool and its large [no shade]. Stayed last year, staying on May 31st. Employee's helpful and nice. Cafe is decent, not great.

We played there for a few hours last November. Got enough points for a T-shirt, sweatshirt, and two pumpkin pies. They just sent me an offer for two free nights and $40 free slot play.

I was there in March and thought the rooms were nice and comfortable. I liked that it's a bit off Fremont but still close to everything. I loved the pool not too busy and drinks were reasonably priced and the food was good. I like the dealers in the casino and think the choices in food is decent with Triple George and Pizza Rock right there. I'll be there again in 2 weeks :)

I subscribe to The Las Vegas Advisor and they just this month posted this review for the Thursday 8pm comedy show at the Grand...very informative. the Advisor is awesome...

"We’re big fans of the comedy clubs—they’re the most economically priced shows in town and being in Vegas, they tend to attract good talent. Both were the case when we checked out the free comedy night on Thursdays at the Downtown Grand. You read that right, this one’s totally free—no cover charge and no drink minimum. Actually, this show is better than free, due to a bunch of prizes given out during the performance, including a $25 bar tab and a Pizza Rock pie.
The 90-minute show in the Mob Bar employs the standard three-comic format, one of whom is a regular and functions as the emcee. As is typical with these shows, the third comic is the headliner and on the night we went, he was in a league with the best we’ve seen. The show starts at 8, but the room fills up, so you should get there when the doors open at 7:30 if you want to secure a table. Another good seating spot is right at the bar. No one pressures you to buy drinks, but if you want them, beers start at just $5.50.
Did we love it? Yes. You’ll have a tough time digging out a better entertainment value on Thursday nights. This one impressed us enough to bag the open spot on this month’s Top Ten list."

I usually stay at a Gold Tower room at the Nugget. Is it worth a switch given similar room rates?

At the suggestion of my coworker I am staying June7th for a night there. He visits Vegas 5-6 times a year and after he stayed there his last trip, he swears by it and said he refuses to stay anywhere else.

I think the standard rooms at the DTG are nicer than their base counterparts at the Nugget. The "Deluxe" DTG rooms are the base ones, while the "Premium" rooms are a bit larger......not sure whether they are also in a tower closer to the casino.

The Nugget is of course the more happening place and in the center of the Fremont action, but if you stay at DTG and give them even minimal play, you'll likely get offers for future comped rooms.

Pretty much echo everything here. I love the hotel, pool, free coffee, dining options, etc, but do not like the changes they have made on the casino floor (6/5 BJ).
I did find a 3:2 BJ table in there, but I believe they had 4 tables open on the floor, 2 were 6/5 and 2 were 3/2.

Using my offer I'm checking in my brother on May 29th. My wife wants to walk over from MSS and use their pool. I've been up there to look and it is a nice pool area. Haven't stayed there but have double booked it a few times and the rooms are nice.

Rooms look decent and casino is small but nice. Pool is a bit "meh", but for DT, its second best for sure. However, their room rates are not much less than the GN (for a Carson tower room) so I can't pull the trigger and stay there for our trip in June.

Mike - I'm guessing these are shoe games or CSMs. All of their floor DD games are 6:5...(unless they've come to their senses).

    This was last week --

They had a $5 six deck shoe game that was 3:2 and packed.

the other 3:2 was $10 FBBJ and I know it was from a shoe, but I don't remember how many decks. It was empty so I sat down here. I had $80 in FP to use, so I used it and left.

the $15 DD pitch is now 6:5 as topcard has said. I looked at it, complained, and moved on :)

I would play this game... at 2-decks or multi-decks...way before I'd touch 6:5, or even a crowded 3:2 6-deck shoe!
    Good call!

I like DTG better than GN and have stayed at both. The areas where the nugget leads are areas that any non guest can access anyway. For example, dining options are a non factor when anywhere is 2 blocks max from everywhere. The pool on the other hand is generally something you can't access as a non guest or at the very least it's a pain. DTG'S pool is sooooo much better than GN even if only for the simple fact that it's less crowded and not just a little but alot. It was a better pool experience than the strip even imho.

(from photos, rooms & bath look quite similar to LINQ remodel)

They have introduced a $1K loss rebate, much like Tropicana's from what info I have gathered.
Good on slots only (not VP).
Lose up to $1K in 24 hours...get 50% rebate in free play immediately. Receive 25% in 1 month, and 25% in 2 months.
Now, I am curious--how long is my free play good for?
(this works well for me--will be there in 3 weeks, back end of July, back in November--not sure will hit DT in July, so can I just get my other 50% in November?)
