I never like to see a place in town close up, so that's good to see. We've always enjoyed playing the $3 blackjack during the day when we stay at MGM, something my buddies and I started some years back.

My wife is a Hooters alumnus too, from her college days, so that part isn't bad either. Surprised the price tag, though.

I love hooters, even though it is disgusting. The worst thing looking out my window of mgm is the visualization of hooters.

Oh really! Not to be a snot, but if it's anything like the original Boardwalk it will be a major improvement! :) (ducking, running) :)

I've only been to Hooters once. Just ducked in to see what it was like. Tres ordinaire.

Seriously, I think the strip (vicinity) needs more lower-end places. I hope they give the place a good once-over, but not so much to become another SLS.

I guess I finally have a reason to go to Hooters casino on my next trip. Never been there, I've always imagined it being worse than Casino Royale.

I went in it once, I thought it was much better than CR, but that is not a very high bar.

Did that prime rib special last year and it was pretty dang good. Nice room in there too. Good service.

I used to visit briefly every trip and often would get a pound of wings or two. Love their chicken finger sandwich (two pieces of texas toaste, 4 chicken fingers, cheese melted on top). I've gone less and less over the last few trips. I will, however, make sure to stop in one more time in July when I'm in town

I wonder how soon they will start the rebranding?

I'm actually staying there next weekend and I'm curious how soon the overall experience (particularly the reports of very poor housekeeping practices) will change.

I had some decent luck there back in March. Their promotions have been pretty good over the past couple years. I went a few times for their .25 cent late night wing deal. I don't think they do that anymore. Also had their prime rib for free or close to it about a year and a half ago. Might stop in next trip to pick up a chip and some dice.

Wonder when the big announcement is going to come out that it will be vegas's newest boutique hotel catering to the bottle service crowd.

    should be any day now.

I loved the Boardwalk, even though i never stayed there (i preferred a higher class joint like Travelodge across the street). But yes, the Strip needs more Boardwalks. Unfortunately, the death of Imperial Palace, Westward Ho, etc put an end to budget hotels/casinos for the most part. Fortunately, you can still get into mid level hotels and up on the Strip at budget prices with a card and play.

I stayed at San Remo a couple of times in the 90's, it was a cheap alternative to MGM across the street. The San Remo/Hooters hotel is basically a Strip hotel. I think what Hooters (insert new name) should do is market itself as the closest Strip hotel to the airport. Have table games at Downtown odds. Show the difference between our hotel (insert new name), and theirs (MGM) with the money you save while still having a pleasurable experience. Make it a the new Riviera South, a gem inside the diamonds.
Unlike SLS, San Remo/Hooters has a prime location. You can walk across the street from multi-billion $ hotels and breathe some fresh air away from MGM/CET.
Heck, when i stayed at San Remo, there were no walkways across the boulevards, just a take your life into your own hands mentality. Now, the Strip is a walk able people mover.

This place may be entitled to the award for the casino location that's been operated under the highest number of different names.

Are the new owners going to let the property go downhill that much to bottom out at the level of what the Boardwalk was?

I've eaten dinner at the restaurant each trip since trip number two (April 2010). Once per trip. I suppose it's because of habit & having a soft spot for the place. I occasionally think about staying there, but then read horror stories about the rooms & chance my mind. I'll be eating dinner there tomorrow.

Hey, the Boardwalk lasted for 12 years. Many Vegas tourists only get to Vegas once or twice in their lives.
My point is the property has been there since 1973 with 6 different names. It's in a fantastic location......just a quick step away from Mega Hotels, including a new Arena and Central Park at Monte Carlo/NYNY, and not affiliated with MGM.

But Hooters, and the new owners, could market the property as a Downtown hotel or off Strip hotel like Gold Coast but in a prime location. People who want affordable prices for rooms, food, and whatever, that you can walk to.
Market (insert new name) with better gambling odds than elsewhere on the Strip. San Remo used to be that way. Market (insert new name) as a place priced like Excalibur, but for adults.
I see it as the opposite of a boutique hotel. Someplace on the Strip that caters to mature adults but rated PG. Not necessarily for the geriatric crowd, although they would be welcomed, but for people who want to be entertained without emptying their wallets.
3:2 Blackjack at low end tables. People who want to gamble on the Strip but are forced to go downtown or off Strip, There are people in here who have ventured away from the Strip because of the boutique hotels catering to the club crowd.
I say fight fire with fire, instead of joining them, why not spite them.
