Check In: Sunday April 19th 11:30 AM
    3 Nights comped
    Terrace Studio

I handed over my Identity Card, ID and CC. Kindly asked Nick if he had any complementary upgrades available, he replied with what tower I would like? My wife just wanted a fountain view. So he gave some options and I got to chose, picked the 30th floor on the East Tower facing the fountain in a One bedroom suite. I also had the option for a wrap around suite for $50 more each night, but I passed. After getting my keys I handed Nick a $50.
3rd or 4th time there and never been declined a upgrade at The Cosmo.

Cosmo seems super easy because the terrace studio, 1 bedroom are the most common rooms in the hotel but is also considered standard rooms. They are both pretty similar but because of the layout a lot of people prefer the terrace studio, so the 1 bedroom is hardly an upgrade as most people seem to think. If you are booked in a city room then it would be considered a upgrade since they don't have a balcony and also a smaller living space.
The real upgrades are the terrace suites and the wraparound and both are significantly larger and nicer then the other rooms mentioned above.

Since next week will be my first time staying at Cosmo I don't plan on asking for an upgrade in the room. I guess I would like to see what I'm upgrading from to begin with. Right now I'm booked (comped) a Studio Terrace. However, I am going to ask for a fountain view. I guess this would be worth a $20 sandwich, or maybe just a pleasant request?

Now, when I go back in a few months, I'll probably ask for an upgrade and hope for a good deal on a wraparound.

Are you staying more then 1 nights? If so i would definitely try the 20 sandwich, otherwise they might try to up-sell the fountain view for 30/night.

a wraparound for 50 a night more is a great deal! I would be all over that. Especially if it is a fountain view!

We always just go for the Terrace Suite. It is about 1000 sq ft and every Terrace Suite faces the fountains. The best we have had was a WrapAround where on side faced the strip and the other side faced the fountains. The Terrace Suite is just the easiest option because you do not have to specify fountain because they all have it.

My only stay at Cosmo was a 2 night comp. Comp was for a Terrace one bedroom. I asked for any upgrade just to see what I might get and he told us about the Terrace Angle (each floor only has onr) and we took it. Was nice having the bit larger room then terrace one bedroom and especially liked having 2 bathrooms. Also all terrace angles are facing the fountain so that is guaranteed. I held the $20 in my hand while asking then gave as a tip after getting the upgrade. A friend of mine had got a wrap around doing that! I was crossing fingers but happy with what we got. He was there during the week. We were weekend. If any one wants info on a terrace angle just ask. I have photos. :)

P.S. Funny thing is we had never gambled there much at all prior to email comp and even during that stay I played easily under $40 dollars so thought that was the end of that. Got another 2 night offer shortly after we got home lol. Didn't use.

I'd love to see what a Terrace Angle room is. I have a terrace studio comped for two nights but would love to secure fountains views somehow.

They are called a Terrace Suite, the are all located in the west tower built with an angel with the specific purpose to get the best views of the fountain. Its a great room and comes with a full kitchen, two full bathrooms and a separate bedroom and living area(910 sqf). Also the balcony is larger then the regular rooms (1 bedroom and terrace studio).

You can get a terrace studio or a 1 bedroom with good fountain views as well but the room is not comparable to a terrace suite.

Would it be worth trying a $50 for a better upgrade versus a standard $20 sandwich to go from comped two nights in the Terrace Studio for fountain views and upgraded room type?

Just got back from my stay with mixed results of the $20 trick. First off I'm not complaining one bit since my 3 day stay was comped including the resort fee.

We got there about noon on Tuesday, May 5th. Was greeted by a registration host who informed us that their computers were down and they expected them to be up in an hour or so. No biggie, we just hit the Casino and went back a couple hours later. The lines about 10 people deep told me that the computers were up and they were assigning rooms. Not so fast. After about 20 minutes in line we were waived forward. We were told that the computers were still down and that they were doing everything manually. Manually meaning writing your info down on a piece of paper, then having a person run through the side doors with said paper to make calls to housekeeping on status of rooms available, then run back with what's available or not.

I had the sandwich at the ready and presented it to the host. I asked if there was any way to get a fountain view. He said probably not with the computer fiasco and considering it was Cinco de Mayo and that they were all sold out. It was not until that point that I realized it was Cinco de Mayo, to me it was just May 5th. Oh well. Then I looked down and noticed a 7" screen on the check-in counter with room availability listed. Everything was sold out.

The host did say that he could get us into a Strip facing room if that would work for us. It did and we said that would be fine. He offered to give back the $20, I said keep it. I gave him my cell number to call when room was available. About 45 minutes later my phone rings and it's a female host who states that our room in the west tower is ready. I told her we were told we were getting a strip facing in east tower. She said ok, it's going to take a little longer for one to become available and she'll call back when one does. Cool. 2 hours pass by so wife and I head over to registration. A different host greats us and we tell him our situation. I hand him my drivers licence and he runs to the back room, returning a few minutes later to tell us the room is still not ready. It's now about 4 PM. Back to playing. At 6 PM still no word so we go back to registration. This time we're waived to the counter. Tell that host our situation, he looks us up as computers are partially up now. Clicks away, hands us our key cards an we're off.

East tower, 30th floor, room 86, walk in, oohh and ahhh over the room. One of the best we ever stayed in. Walk out to the terrace and see..... a partially torn down Harmon building. Oh well.

Like I said, not complaining. I will try again for the better view in a couple months.

Stayed at the Cosmopolitan last year for two nights, both comped. When I called to book, the reservations clerk spontaneously asked if I wanted to be upgraded to a terrace 1 bedroom suite. I said sure. So my reservation showed as being for a terrace 1 bedroom suite. When I arrived I handed the check in clerk a $20 sandwich and she seemed fairly surprised but appreciative. She booked me on a really high floor (can't remember which), facing the fountains. I LOVED the Japanese soaker tub (and the separate shower). The kitchenette area was nice and convenient, and of course the balcony was awesome. I had a great stay in that room. No complaints.

Although I will say that if you don't want to hear the club music all night till after 4:00 am, make sure you ask for a room far away from the club - you'd be amazed how far the sound travels - even in rooms way up high. It didn't impact me, but I do have a friend who complained a lot about hearing heavy base/music every single night till almost daybreak during his stay. And that really did negatively affect his experience there.
