We're going to be staying at Main Street Station over 29th-31st May. Our soccer team is playing in the Scottish Cup Final for the first time in its history on Saturday 30th. The game kicks off at 7am vegas-time. We're very very keen to see it. Just our lousy luck that we'd booked flights before checking out the date of the big match!

Does anyone know if a casino/sports book will accept requests to show a particular game? I know we could go to somewhere like the Crown & Anchor, but we don't want to be taxi-ing all over town at that time of the morning.

My initial concern is the sports books I've seen, won't be open at that time. I've never stayed at MSS, however.

Arghh. I'd overlooked that. I've never had cause to be in a sports book until later in the day. I reckon you're right - they will all be closed at that time. Looks like we may have to seek out a 24hour bar somewhere nearby that can show live sports. Any suggestions?

We're in a bar in Inverness, Scotland - discussing our vegas strategy. And it's occurred to us that the main casino bar in MSS (the boars head) has lots of TVs at the bar. Could we ask the 6:30 am bartender to find our game on some obscure digital channel? Are Vegas early morning bartenders likely to help us out?

Bartenders should be more than willing to help.At least you get there the day before to find out which bar is open,if they have the channel, take bets on the game etc. Good Luck!

In most Vegas bars, the bartender can not change the channel without permission. They need to call the office. Not all but most.

The TVs in the casino might not get the full sports package.

I, too, wonder where this will be telecast so someone in the USA can watch it. Bein tv? At any rate, if you take your computer and an HDMI cable, maybe you could find it streaming on SKY Sports and hook up your computer to your room tv and watch it in your room.

Having spent many hours at the bar at MSS, I can say with certainty that their tv package is very limited. That said, the bartenders there (Jose,Oleg and Kelli) will switch a tv to whatever is available.

That's good to know, thanks. I guess we can try a few nearby casino bars on the Friday to check our options. Watching it on a tablet in our room is definitely our Plan Z.

MSS in both the 777 and at Boar's Head are limited to basic cable. They get ESPN and few other sport channels, but not too much else.

Well, the game is over - and our team won!

The only network showing the match in the U.S. was an English/Spanish language network called fubo.tv via GolTV. It's a subscription channel and we couldn't find any casino bar/sports book that has it in their package - not even the Crown & Anchor, McMullens or Blondies!

The bartenders we spoke to told us that they have no discretion over the TVs - it's down to the pit bosses apparently?!

Anyhoo, we watched it on our iPad via GolTV and celebrated the win with a champagne brunch. A pity we couldn't be there in person - but being in Vegas is definitely some compensation for missing the match!
Thanks for all who offered suggestions.

Thanks for the follow-up. Sorry you couldn't find it showing anywhere!

BTW - "FuriousGeorge" is my favorite user name of all time. :D
