    Must Do in Vegas!

Do you have a special Vegas gambling ritual that must be fulfilled every trip? Is there a sure fire number you bet that on that never lets you down?

While browsing the forums I have noticed a lot of talk involving certain slot machines (e.g Cleo 2!) or an individual's favorite gaming strategy that is being used by other players for games (e.g. Pay Triple's Roulette!) and I thought it would be fun to consolidate some of the favorites into a single thread.

Since most of these favorites are referenced or mentioned throughout many different threads or have not yet been shared, I have decided to (be lazy!) ask for folks to provide some of their favorite strategies or special slots/tables/etc. for games they like to play with the intention of consolidating and possibly putting together a VMB Member's Bucket List / Scavenger Hunt for gaming in Vegas.

I've listed some of the main games to start out with and included a few examples below but that is just for reference. What I would like to see is differing personalized strategies, traditions, superstition, that you have incorporated into your trip and find out how it came to be.

Baccarat - Negative progression betting, Player/Bank/Player, etc. - what is your weapon of choice when tackling the tables?

Craps - There is a lot of various ways to play craps - but what is your favorite strategy or place to play and why? Do you have a favorite shift/location where the dealers are great and you enjoy your time.. do you have places you prefer to avoid?

E.g. For years now when my college buddies and I reunite in Vegas we always try to visit Margaritaville for $5 dollar craps once on our trip. Everyone has posted a winning session on every trip with me being the exception on one out of 5+ visits. It's considered our good luck table..

Non-standard Table Games - Do you enjoy playing any unique table games that might have been featured in Vegas Vacation's 'special' casino? If so, what is it and where?

E.g. For me it was a fun table game that Harrah's used to carry called Triple Shot. You would place 3 bets and go against the dealer in 1 card Casino War, Blackjack, and finish with 5 card Poker hand all with a single deck. High HA but it was an absolute blast to play. I don't believe it exists anymore..

Roulette - Do you always play a certain way or special number? What is your favorite strategy or number and why?

E.g. When I'm in the mood to really gamble (or rather, give my money away!) I love to play the row of 3s and play for a couple of back to back big hits. Really curious to see other's strategies (17 and 20, anyone?).

Slots - What is your favorite slot and do you have a favorite machine?

E.g. Slots were never a big game for me but growing up my family loved to play Wheel of Fortune and I always enjoyed watching the featured spin on the machine. Occasionally I throw in a $20 to play for a spin but never play for long. I would definitely like to take a shot at some of the favorites and from what I have seen on the boards Cleopatra II and Buffalo are a couple of popular ones.

Table Games - Ultimate Texas Hold-em, Let it Ride, Three Card Poker, Pai-Gow Poker.. What is your favorite and why?

Video Poker - What is your favorite game type, machine or place to play and why? Note: For locations of machines with best payouts for VP see here: For best bartops in Vegas with VP see Tringlomane's awesome thread here.

E.g. My buddy and I will be incorporating VP Golf into a bartop crawl trying to visit many locations. He is better seasoned with the rules so will include those later on once I have them.

Other - What are other favorites you have to do to consider a Vegas gambling trip complete?

Well, me and my gambling buddy always make it a point to play "3-card Porn at the Whore Pit" whenever we're both in Vegas. (That's the 3-card poker table at the Golden Nugget "Party Pit")
No special strategy...we just both buy in for $100 and bet $5s until one of us gets to $400 or more (or we both lose). We quit and split all of the chips that remain.

If I'm downtown I go to The D and play a couple of the classic machines. The coin droppers bring back memories.

My next trip I have a few people coming with and I'm a bit anxious about it as it's usually just me and the GF. Maybe I'll try to convince them to play slot golf so we can get hammered too.

I like the concept! How often do you go get to $400 as opposed to going broke?

Classic - didn't realize they had them hiding around.. my family used to collect the coin buckets from each casino way back when. I wonder how many they still have lying around.. some might be worth something a few generations from now - hah!

... about 1/4th of the time! (... and yeah - I understand the math)
What we're hoping for (of course) is the quick straight-flush hit that pays 40-to-1 on the pair-plus...that gets the winner awfully close to $400 right there... add in a couple of other wins, and we're there.
    ($15 bet...$85 in left the stack on the 1st bet...$200 PP, $10 on ante/play plus $25 on the ante bonus = $335.)

I play the same 5 numbers on Roulette, and the same 10 numbers on keno.

With any number game it's better to either play the same numbers consistently or to play randomly in between will only lead to heartbreak.

My Aggressive technique at Roulette: I double all bets at roulette if I hit my number (triple the number that just hit since they leave the bet) and continue doubling until I hit max or lose the spin. I still am waiting to hit more than 3 times in a row.

My theory on number games is the complete opposite, play random numbers always, prevents me from playing the shoulda woulda coulda game.

There are several dozen coin droppers upstairs at The D. They even had coin dropper video poker where the machine has only one game on it and the payable is printed on the glass.

Not really about the games per say, but I always go down to the Golden Gate, and get my match play chips, and food comp.
I use the match play at the BJ or Free Bet BJ, and then have "breakfast" at Dupars. Good way to start the drinking.

I always play 3CP @ a couple CET properties (w/ 6 card bonus) and my DW has to play Megabucks a couple of times, just in case it is our turn to hit it big. LOL
