My next trip, if there is such a thing, will be 2 nights Mirage, 4 or 5 nights Golden Nugget.

I am surrendering the Strip to the (You know who, word we cannot say, begins with a D). Just too much bullshit on the Strip.

Fremont St. and environs has everything a Senior needs and more.

I enjoy the area around Mirage and the pool too much to give it up entirely, but the high cost of everything, the generation gap, has finally won out. I can always ride the bus to the Strip if I really have to.

Yay! Hoping there will be a next trip! I adore Fremont but rather stay on strip. Two awesome environments.

We gave up the Strip in November 2013. Been staying at MSS but try to get a free night each trip on the Strip.

I'm not a senior yet but I agree with pretty much everything you said. The prices on the strip have gotten ridiculous and the gambling conditions are getting worse and worse. Downtown is really where it's at these days.

I doubt you'll miss the strip, I stopped going there maybe 5 years ago, used to spend at least 1 day on the strip but found myself wandering around wondering why I'm not downtown where I can gamble, drink, and eat like I want to.

    This is so spot-on!
I've been a mostly-downtown guy since about a year after Stardust closed. For many, many trips, I always had a day on the strip...and the last few times, I wondered the same thing as you - "why am I not downtown?"

My first trip to Vegas was to DT and is still my favorite spot.

Upcoming trip is two days on the Strip and then "home" to DT for the next three days.

I hear ya Breeze. Depending on the company I'm with (or not) downtown has basically everything I need.

I hope you get back on the horse soon. It's always more entertaining when you're around here!

Last trip I spent one night downtown and really enjoyed the evening/night atmosphere. Since it was my last night and I had to go to the airport at noon I did not get much day time there but it just seemed boring during the day, unless I wanted to gamble (and I did). This trip I again am spending one night, my first one there and hopefully will find time to get down a second evening. I enjoy being in both places, for the price Fremont is the better deal for sure and having arthritis really bad in my knees and ankles makes it much easier to get around, but the strip seems to have more life during the day.

Downtown is so great. Our trip last week was the first time we had actually stayed downtown instead of just visiting, and it was well worth it. Will definitely be doing it again.

Welcome to the club. When you get even older (like me) you'll decide off strip is where it's at LOL.

My last few trips have all been downtown. I just like the laid back feel of it. Everyone having a good time, laughing, listing to the free bands, etc..
And, if you're not having good luck at one place, walk 5 min to another casino.
