    My Trip Report

A few months ago I posted a thread where I was debating a possible first-time stay at the Cosmopolitan. Well, I finally received an offer for two free nights at Cosmo! The DW and I have very much been looking forward to a weekend away from the kiddo in Sin City.

We were initially double-booked at Aria and Cosmo. Aria is fast becoming my favorite place to stay and gamble in Vegas. I love the architechture, restaurants, and BJ rules. However, we stayed there together on my 40th birthday trip and we were both itching for a bit of a change. We cancelled at Aria and are now booked Wednesday & Thursday nights at the Hard Rock Hotel (both comped, with a few freebies thrown in) and Thursday & Friday at the Cosmo (comped, but have to pay the resort fees). My wife has never stayed at the HRH - I really enjoy the vibe there, especially the loud music and "rode hard, put away wet" sketchiness. We are definitely looking forward to our first ever stay at the Cosmopolitan.

I am going to attempt a semi-live trip report, with the plan for mostly pictures from my iPhone via Tapatalk. I don't expect it to be as exciting as the recent reports from Packer, UCLAgirl, or Pleeplus, but I will try my best!

The only firm plans we have right now are (free) tix to see Amy Schumer at Cosmo on Friday night. We have reservations at Giada's on Thursday but we are leaning towards canceling. We really wanted to see Le Reve but it is dark on Wed and Thurs nights. We have never been to Zumanity and may do that. We both love the Pink Taco - ritas and whatnot are definitely on today's menu. :licklips: I am a big fan of China Poblano, too.

The DW is planning on pool time, at least one spa day, and a nap or three. I am primarily a blackjack and craps player, around the black-chip level or so. I am going to channel my "inner Packer" and play the dark side on at least one session. :peace: I will hit HRH hard today and early tomorrow. The rest of my gambling will probably be split between Cosmopolitan and Aria. I will likely lay down some coin on a couple of NCAA or NFL futures bets as well.

    Wish me luck!

The first gamble of the trip: electing for uncovered parking at one of budget off-site spots. We have had hail at least once this week.

Our SWA flight departed Hobby right on time. :D I sprung for the in-flight wifi... I'm posting this from somewhere over El Paso  and burned one of my free drink coupons a screwdriver. I'm not a morning drinker but had to have one on principle on my way to Vegas.

If things go smooth we should be at the Hard Rock around 11:00 AM.

We had some of that hail at our house on Sunday, too. Safe travels. Good luck! We'll be gambling at Aria this weekend, as well!

The giant margaritas at the pool may turn out to be a mistake.

Slumming it up in the Casino Tower, pool view king. Bathroom is weak, but plenty of room in bedroom. The view is great!

Lunch at the Pink Taco was decent. After that was pool time, then to the room for some R&R. I grabbed some sundries at the CVS across the street. I seem to recall that Indian restaurant was decent? Anyone know? Smartone? The "24 Hour Foot Spa" looked pretty shady. I did notice that Club Paradise was open once again. :wink2:

I hit the dice for about an hour - bet the "right" side the entire session. I won my $75 "free bet" but proceeded to lose that and more, finishing about $900 in the hole for the session.

We are thinking about going picking up tix to see Zumanity tonight.

We ended up taking a cab to the Strip to see Zumanity. The taxi dropped us off at the MGM and we cut through that casino. It was a completely different vibe than the Hard Rock. NYNY was also hopping. I hate the vibe in NYNY, though.

We spent the extra dough to sit in one of the "love seats". I have heard some mixed reviews of the show so my expectations were tempered a bit, but we thought the show was great. It was a good call to sit close to the stage to see the performers up close - there were definitel some hot bodies in the production. :wink2:

We had a drink and dessert at 35 Steaks & Martinis after getting back to the Hard Rock. The DW hit the sack and I got a couple of hours in at the tables. It was a real bloodbath at the blackjack and craps tables. I could have been good for another hour or two but I needed to stop the bleeding. My fate was sealed for the evenng when I upped my bets on both BJ spots, doubled down on one, and the dealer pulled a 5 card 21. It was a big swing... not huge but enough to cement a losing session.

I will upload a couple of pics in the morning!

We are up and at 'em already today. We are still on CDT and we normally get up early as it is. Unfortunately, this means we were both awake by 5:30 AM Vegas time. We took a quick run through the west side of the UNLV campus, including a couple of laps around the football practice fields.

Apologies for no food porn last night... we just grabbed a slice of pizza before the show. It was sustenance, not much more.

I forgot to mention the world's fittest "little person" in the show last night. My wife thought it was a bit creepy, but he was ultra buff. Of the two performers in the "fish bowl" act, one was clearly better than the other... the second girl was really struggling a bit at times.

I'm going to pay off my marker from last night and hit the tables again, while the better half is getting ready to hit the pool. We'll probably have lunch here before heading over to the Cosmo to check in.
