Actually I've been playing this game 1 year and 2 weeks to be exact. Like others have said repeatedly the value of the game has deflated quite a bit over time. When I signed up a year ago I read from posters that many of the best rewards had gone away, yet for me it was still possible to get 3 free nights at the Aria for 297,000 LPs. Lucky for me I was able to cash those in a few days before they went away for good. There's still some decent free stuff available, but there are lots of deals made elsewhere for those who go to Vegas regularly. The discounted CDS tickets and discounted(and depending on play) free rooms are easily attained by signing up and playing with player's cards. I'm not saying there's no value to this free game-only that the value is working towards getting minimized to the point it's easier to lose interest in playing for the free stuff itself. I have a trip planned for the fall and I may end up not playing or even recommending playing the game after that. Or I may just occasionally play for casual interest of the game itself. Anyway, there are always questions from newcomers about hard long it takes to acquire chips and LPs, so I thought I'd give the 1 year tally of a guy who tried different tactics along the way: When I signed up last Mar 5 it was with the intent to supplement a July Vegas trip. By late June(June 18th, iirc) I had accumulated slightly over 300k LPs and had cashed in 297k for 3 free nights in the Aria to go along with a 3 free night marketing offer I had from the Mirage for my level of play there. It was a great value, obviously. I think at that time(Jun 18th) I was on level 153. All the while I kept reading how some posters had millions of chips by playing 30-60,000 chips a spin, but I was in a hurry to get those Aria nights, so I was trying more to be proficient by selectively hoarding chips, then playing about 1500-3000 a spin. Anyway, after I cashed in for that trip I decided to play bigger with larger hoarding efforts in between. By late fall I wasn't getting much of anywhere toward having a very large stash of chips, so I decided in late November to not play at all and instead strictly hoard chips for 3 months. I started with 1.6 mil chips, then 3 months later had accumulated a total of 7.7 mil chips(hoarding a little over 2 mil chips a month). Going into that hoarding mode I was at level 221 and had about 400LPs(I think). At that point(about 3 weeks ago) I decided to play at 60k a spin, starting with Lotus Land. I very quickly hit that game for 3.5 mil chips, then bounced around to other games and within a day and a half I was up to 14 mil chips betting between 6k-15k-30k a spin. Now, just 2 1/2 weeks later I am at level 494 with about 780k LPs, yet I still have 15 mil chips to play with. So, basically I went up 273 levels in 3 weeks and actually gained close to 7.3 million chips. Weird, I know. So for those curious about where you might be and how much you might accumulate in 1 year, here you have it: Level: 494 Total LPs: 1,080,000 Chips still on hand: 15,000,000
You've done very well for yourself! I might warn people reading this that you've had a lot of good fortune to be able to consistently bet at those levels. I've been playing around two years and it seems any time I elevate my bets over 6,000 per spin I do terribly and end up needing to significantly reduce my bets or I end up needing to start all over after busting out. Not deterring people from playing, because I still think it's worthwhile, but your success with such an aggressive approach might not be easily duplicated by others. Congrats, though! Any plans for your 780k LPs?
Actually, I very much agree with you. I know I just got lucky. And honestly, my only intention was to get to lucky enough to get to about 15 mil chips eventually, then reduce my bets to 1500-3000-6000, so I could then always have enough of a stash to play whenever I wanted without fear of busting anymore. But like many gambling endeavors, after I hit 15 mil yesterday I decided I was on a roll enough to push my luck last night-then do it again this morning. Crazy thing is, last night I went back down to 11 mil chips while getting to level 509. Then like an idiot I tried one more time this morning, only to fall back further to just 6.4 mil chips. But then I decided to try one more game, then maybe start hoarding again. I tried the one game I've never been able to win at: China Mystery. Spinning 30,000 a spin I got my first free games there. 166 of them. And along the way I hit one spin for 9 mil chips. That plus another 3.5 chips in that free game run I know have 19 mil chips. And I'm at level 524. That said, thanks for the reminder and nudge, because I'm now going to play that 1500-3000-6000 spins I originally hoped I would. As far as the LPs go, I'm not going to Vegas until the fall, so I'll have to see what's available at the time. I imagine by then I'll have well over a million LPs.
soled905, Fantastic post and analysis. For someone who is barely two months into it and "grinding" it out without a real purpose your analysis has some awesome value for metp forecast where I would be in a best case scenario. I will definitely now go for the hoard and attack method you described above as these low limts are killing me. Thanks again!
2.5 months in... Facebook: level 70 Slots (amazon appstore): level 63 BJ (amazon appstore: level 68 Total LPs 132K Facebook thoughts: When I first started playing I read reviews to grind 200/spin then at level 58 switch to 1000/spin. It seems to be going slow for me with no "huge" hits at all. Now that I have all the strip properties I may take your advice and farm chips until June and play 1500/spin (I have noticed the Cady Shaq has many fewer mini game breaks if you check the "do not golf" box when compared to Lucky Birds). right now I play ever 2-3 days when I bank 100K chips..that last me about 500-1000 spins at 1k/spin. Amazon App BJ thoughts: I hit a lucky streak a few times to get 1 mil chips and was able to grind the strip and level betting 20K hand. leveling when very quick through first 40 levels or so and the strip challenges provided quick LP's. Has slowed signifcantly with levels taking much longer (for only 100LP per level) and the challenges get more time and chip consuming. Amazon App Slots thoughts: farmed to 100 K chips (takes much longer with smaller daily spins). bet 1000/spin and got lucky to accumulate 1mil. stayed on 1000/spin for 2 days and gained 50 level and crushed the strip challenges. that was about 30K LP in 3 days. now I am down to about 300K chips and can maintain 600/spin pretty much all day but LP's come very slow. My goal was about 1K LP's day with a MGM July trip coming up. This will be my first redemption and...maybe my last if I never get back to Vegas again. I agree the rewards seem blah, but here is my thoughts.... (150K LP) - $50 MGM Grand freeplay - Value: $50 (25K LP) - Minus 5 ice bar for 2 - Value: $38 (30K LP) - Mandalay Bay foundations room for 2 - Value: $60 Total Value: $148 My wife and I are not interested in buffets or the lower end comp rooms. The above rewards will give us places to visit at night without saying "why the hell would I pay for that". As for the overprice $50 freeplay...well, we people watch/comp drink about $50-$100 per gambling trip anyway. Does anyone know if the MGM freeplay works in the touch $.25 cent roulette machines...it did not work for me at showboat in atlantic city (R.I.P.). Any thoughts on other rewards option I could switch out the above for?
Many reports on VMB have indicated there are other ways to gain entry to the Foundation Room (free coupons they hand out, for one). You might consider hoping for that and spending your LPs on something else.
Foundation room is a great reward. Fabulous bar and brilliant view of the strip. Wife and I both loved it. Best part is that it doesn't count towards your 3 MGM redemptions so you are good to go for another reward on top of your 3 picks.
Updated: 03/30/2015 7 days later and I am at 152.4 K LPs. I averaged a little under 3K LP per day. Although, I have to credit a large portion of the gains from an FB Daily LP hit and the new BJ app that gives 1K+ LP's for unlocking BJ venues. I am glad I did not play though unlocking all the venues them before this update! I am officially at zero chips on all platforms right now, however. I did not bank 1M chips on FB like I had planned...I got to 200K and started grinding FB Blackjack using a new strategy. Got to 400K pretty quickly but then lost it all immediately. I swear myVegas blackjack is programmed to be hot or cold..no way it is random...I also feel like the Mobile BJ version has much better odds. The FB BJ dealer regularly has a 1st card of 10 and rarely busts (compared to mobile BJ)...probably just me, but I can never rack up a streak on the FB BJ. Also, as an FYI, I hit one Mobile BJ 4-hr bonus box for 200K Chips & one daily bonus box for 300LP...everything else has be 8-30 LP. One more note....The Mobile Slots is still awarding LP's for strip challenge completions...I would hit that as hard as you could just in case the convert it like they did the Mobile BJ challenges. Good Luck and LPSpeed...
I am at about 2 months and 3 weeks at it. MGMroom for 52k cashed in, 103k Lp remaining, plan is for two free buffets from MGM for 112k (will reach next week). And not sure 3rd reward... Trip on last week in May. I hate the bj update.... I play on iPad both slots and bj, and on computer at work during shift (usually in background). Had some good streaks.... But noticed it does suck up time, but not big deal to play while watching tv. Not sure levels on mobile, but 73 on facebook.
I think I played more than a year, and I got 7 buffets, and 2 FP's out of it. As of today, I purchased the third award and stopped playing immediately. I will delete the mobile apps as well. As everyone mentioned, MyVegas used to be great and nowadays, the gift portion sucks. So, I will not play again. I think the retail value of the gifts I redeemed (will redeem) is about $200. This is not bad, since the game was kinda fun to play as well. But, at some point I got bored from it and the deterioration of the gifts gave me a good reason to quit
Updated: 04/07/2015 8 days later and I am at 172.7 K LP. Average 2.5 K LP per day. I don't have any substantial chips to play today but I hit the 500LP daily spin, got 1500LP from the BJ App daily boxes, and 300LP from Facebook hotel farming. Not bad for not playing any games! I am 33K LP away from starting to play on my wife's account to get 3 more rewards before our trip that is 90 days out. If I average 2KLP/day i'll farming LP for my wife in 16 days!
I've been playing for 11 months exactly. My stats are as follows: Facebook - Level 295 (11,000 chips on hand) Mobile Slots App - Level 47 (4,000 chips on hand) Mobile Blackjack App - Level 72 (350,000 chips on hand) Total LPs earned: 839,500 (236k on hand, 603,500 redeemed) Rewards Redeemed (August 2014, January 2015): Midweek Bonus Room at Mandalay Bay (x2) 2 Dinner Buffet Passes at Mirage (x1) Weekend Bonus Room at Mandalay Bay (x1) 2 Dinner Buffet Passes at MGM Grand (x1) $50 Freeplay at Mandalay Bay (x1) I have no real interest in seeing shows, so the room and buffet rewards are really the only ones that appeal to me at all. I'm playing now whenever I'm bored because I might be making another Vegas trip in August, so it would be nice to have the ability to redeem some rewards for that trip. I, too, have noticed the "screws being tightened" across the board (ease of earning chips/LPs, quality of rewards, redemption restrictions, etc.) since I started playing last May. I majored in business in college - I completely understand why it's being done. That doesn't mean I have to like it, though. I'm not ungrateful at all - I've probably redeemed over $500 worth of rewards, and hope to have the chance to do so again in August (or January '16). I'd love to see some more-appealing rewards be offered in the 150k-250k price range, but I don't see that happening at all. This game appears to be on a one-way street towards being a glorified coupon book for MGM.
Excellent description "glorified coupon book". I am hoping to grab a $50 slot play and entry into a few attractions that I would otherwise blow off due to the entry fee. That will add a few more things to do during out casino hopping walks. The rooms are (...were) probably the best reward, but since I am going with my wife we want to stay in a larger/nicer room.
Update: 04/14/2015 LP Summary: 03/30/2015: 152.4 K (3K LP/day) 04/07/2015: 172.7 K (2.5K LP/day) 04/14/2015: 186.5 K (2K LP/day) I still managed to pull of 2K LP/day....mostly with help from daily spins, bonus boxes, and hotel strip LPs...Chip farming was extremely tight on myVegas the past 7 days. I got so frustrated with the 1.5K chip daily spins and 5K total from strip farming that I tried 5 straight days of betting all my chips on BJ with the hopes of hitting a 4-5 win streak and doubling each time...instead....I lost approx 15 first hands of BJ. I don't see the next 7 days going any better as I plan on saving 200K chips before I kick off Lucky Birds again..probably 3 days from now. On a better note. I did redeem my first 2 rewards to pop my reward cherry! 84 days out from my MGM Grand trip and I redeemed $50 freeplay (150K LP) and entry for two into the Foundation Room at the House of Blues (30K LP). Total value is approx $90. Although I hear people say it is easy to find coupons/vouchers in to the Foundation Room in Vegas....I didn't feel like spending time asking around though. I can still redeem 2 more vouchers since the Foundation Room is not part of the 3in30! Minus 5 is my next voucher...19K LPs to go!
Life-to-Date LP Redemption and Current Bal: 04/14/2015: Redeem - 150,000 LP - MGM Grand $50 Freeplay 04/14/2015: Redeem - 10,800 LP - 1 free $20 martini at Bellagio Hyde 04/14/2015: Redeem - 25,000 LP - Entry for 2 into Minus5 04/20/2015: Balance - 10,787 LP I have revised my goal since I have redeemed my 3-in-30 limit. I am starting to play myVegas under my wife's FB account and I am only logging in every day into my account for daily spins and strip farming. in the last six days I have farmed 10 K LP...200K Chips on FB & 100K Chips on Mobile Slots. Not to bad for approx 5-10 of activity a day. I estimate my redemption value at $104 dollars. Haha, that probably comes out to .58 cents per hour if I have played for 3 months at 2 hours per day.
