I'm figuring that during the fight weekend, the table mins up and down the strip, are gonna be ridiculous. I have a rental car and although I'm at the Flamingo all 5 days, I'm thinking about exploring Vegas for something different. Im looking for that little casino/hotel that youve been to that you just don't hear much about. You enjoyed the atmosphere, had decent table mins, good Vp and a buffet or cafe that met your needs. Wiling to drive outside of Vegas proper if need be (but not too far).

    Give me that "GEM" please!!

I don't know about gem but South Point has cheap gambling and very good restaurants. Perfect for me.

I've seen the Flamingo parking garage fill up on busy weekends. If you take out the car, you may have a hard time finding parking nearby when you get back.

We love the Silverton. Probably not overcrowded even on busy weekend, nice casino for slots, also has tables (never looked at them!). Their players club is generous. We have visited three or four times, for an hour or so, over the last several years and get snail mail offers of free rooms and slot play. If you want to go a little farther, Emerald Island in Henderson is a friendly locals casino that bills itself as "Nevada's only all Penny Casino". We enjoyed the slots and had a meal in the grille (maybe at a discount for signing up for their player card)

I would say for Low-Limit gambling, with good quality budget eats...Jerry's Nugget, north of MSS.
I liked it better than all the other "Off Strip/Locals Joints"

I'd second South Point and Red Rock as well

Ellis Island and you don't need a car. Also, downtown and you don't need the car for that either. Easy bus ride.

Jerry's Nugget has great prime rib, but does not have a hotel.

For out of the way accommodations I might suggest Sams Town.

Aww, I missed the "Hotel" portion.
Yep, then Sam's Town it is! (Great comps, great video poker, and $5 minimum's on table games!)

I don't think the OP is looking for a room, he'll be at Flamingo, and i agree with Tim that if you want a great little casino and great Prime Rib, check out Jerry's Nugget. Also, across the street is the Palomino Gentleman's Club.

So far so good. Yes...I am looking for a casino that has a hotel (future offers are future offers). I should have also said casino/hotels that are at least a mile away from las vegas blvd and not downtown. Ive been to all the BOYD & Station properties, along with Rampart, Ellis Island, Silverton and Eastside cannery. I will make it a point to stop at Jerrys Nugget though (although it doesnt have a hotel it does sound like the kind of place that I would like..

All indications are that on Sat night (Fight night), the cheapest viewings will be $150.00. I I know that I won't be paying that. Hopefully Ill be exploring some new territories!!

On the way to Boulder is "Railway Pass" I believe they have a hotel, not 100% sure. We've stopped a couple times and eaten in the cafe never stayed that long but always enjoyed it. Small and divish.

I did a coupon run once, and visited lots of major off-strip casinos. I really liked the casinos at Eastside Cannery, M Resort and Silverton. Haven't been yet, but from what I've seen, Red Rock would be nice option too.

Agree with the suggestion of South Point. We also enjoy The M.

    Good stuff, so far folks.

I've got Jerrys nugget http://www.jerrysnugget.com/ and Railroad pass http://www.railroadpass.com/ ( billed as the nations oldest casino -1931) on my radar. I've gotten comp offers from Red Rock, Southpoint and Eastside cannery so I'm familiar with those properties. In fact places like Southpioint, M and Red Rock are the main reason why I'm asking this question!! I love it when an adventure into new territory pans out!!

Silver Sevens has decent rooms if you can get in the tower. Casino is kind of old and divey but if you don't mind that, it isn't a bad place.

I stayed at the Hacienda near Lake Mead one night prior to a trip with a fishing guide.... I liked it... good gamble low limits and the Lamb Chops in the steakhouse were amazing.

i would recommend joker's wild and skyline, but you've probably been to the former and they don't have hotels that will comp you future stays, IIRC.
