Horseshoe Cleveland Questions

Looks like I will be in Cleveland for an evening next month. Thinking of going to the Horseshoe in Cleveland for a couple hours the night I am there. Not staying there, but trying to decide if its worth the effort to go there to gamble for a bit. So a few questions:

*Is there parking attached to the casino? Is it free?
*What are the blackjack conditions?
*What are the craps conditions?
*Anything else I should know?

 

When I went there, I had to park in an out lot & walk to the casino entrance. Had to pay to park & it was by the hour Not sure if there was any other parking. The overall feel of the place is nice, but it seems small & narrow. I know there are multiple floors, but I didn't get passed the 1st. They had several craps tables going around 5pm & I think all of them were $10 mins & I believe it was 3x4x5x odds. Very professional crew. I can not comment on blackjack conditions....

 

There is no parking attached to the casino. Even casino valet parking is across the street I think if you have CET status (Diamond or 7 Stars, valet parking is free). When I was there last, the casino was very crowded. There was a line up 100 deep on a Saturday night. If you are a Diamond or 7 Stars, you can cut the line. Ohio law............no free drinks.....even in the Diamond Lounge.

 

There is no parking actually attached but there is a walkway that will take you from the parking garage to the casino. Parking is "free" if you gamble for 30 minutes (or earn a certain amount of tier credits). Valet parking is free for diamond/seven stars. Valet parking for diamond may be restricted if there is a Cavs game or Indians game the night you are going.
Blackjack is all 3:2/H17 (except in HL room where it is S17). HL room has BJ (some $50 min but most are $100 min) and one craps table ($50 min; usually only open on weekend nights).
Main floor craps mins range from $10 to $25 depending on time and day of week. 100x odds.

Crowds during the week are not that bad - the days of a line to get in are long gone.

It is a non-smoking casino (Ohio law). I like it - some may not. The casino itself was an old department store. Not the typical casino decor - a little more classy than cheesy.

No free drinks on casino floor (Ohio law). Beers are $5/liquor is $6; Diamond lounge offers drinks for $2 ($3 top shelf).

 

This is correct. BJ is 8 decks, as well.

 

I am pretty sure all CET Horseshoes have 100X odds at craps, internet says Cleveland has it.

They also have a TAG Lounge apparently! But only ~30 beers, and per Ohio law...you have to pay for them.

Just got home from the Horseshoe about an hour ago. It is a nice casino. Workers are very friendly. You can park in the garage and use the walkway which is very nice. I play the slots but I the people I know who play bj and craps like it...and they say they win.

If there is a sporting event like the Indians or the Cavs the casino will of course be more crowded. The buffet is very good. Also some very nice restaurants around the area.

Swipe your total rewards card at a kiosk after you get 15 points and you get a free parking ticket. That's $150 through VP machines. A little less through slot machines. Not hard to get even for a low roller like me.

 

I'm a craps player in the area. The usually have a couple $10 tables and then mostly $15 tables. It is 100xs odds, they also have the fire bet. Be aware that one of the tables is crapless craps. I have accidentally bought in on that dumb table before. The crews ar pretty good, when your bets get higher sometime they might be a little slower on the payouts because they just don't pay that high very often. They do have one table in the HL room as well, $100 mins are above my comfort zone so I know nothing about the table. On the main floor they have 7 regular tables, typically there are at least 4 in play.

I know you are a big player at MGM, not sure about CET, like others have said if you are diamond or 7 stars parking is free (valet or self park). If not you need to accumulate 15 tier credits to get your parking validated. You do have to swipe at a kiosk. On the 2nd floor of the deck there is an over the street walkway connecting the parking structure and the casino.

If you are in town when there is a Cavalier playoff game going on parking could be tough. The casino will be packed before and after the game. They do staff pretty well to keep up with the crowds and they do bump the mins, the $10 tables will go to $15 and the $15s to $25. I like the overall feel of the casino for something that is only 30 minutes away. Have a good time and enjoy the wonderful north coast.

 

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'm going in early May. So if there is a Cavs game, I might just scalp a playoff ticket instead. But if not, what I am hearing sounds encouraging. I did not expect any blackjack with S17. And the info on parking is helpful. Trying to decide if I really want to carry a strap of cash for that trip or if I want to set up (yet another) credit line at a casino.

 

Given what I have read from other threads about the Horseshoe Cleveland setup, I would consider a credit line if you plan to play your typical levels.

The Horseshoe is my local. The parking garage that is connected to the casino via the skywalk is fine. It's well lit with security cameras everywhere, and normally there are a lot of people coming and going so it's not deserted, especially in the evenings when the place gets busy. The skywalk connected garage is the one that takes the free parking slips you get for playing. There are other garages nearby that are pretty creepy but you don't want those ones any way as they don't accept the parking vouchers.

Baseball season has also started and the HS is only a few blocks away from Progressive Field. So in addition to checking if the Cavs are home at Quicken, you'll also want to check the Indians schedule to see if they are at home as that could affect parking availability. They've been good thus far in posting parking updates on their website for the big conflicts - like Friday for instance when the Indians had their home opener at 4 and the Cavs were playing at 7 - but this was only a few days before which may be less time that you need for your trip.

 

They have a deal w the ritz a couple of blocks away. Let them put you in it. Also a deal w Morton's steakhouse same terms.

 

The Ritz, Morton's and The Casino are all connected in Tower City complex. Tower City is a mall with the Metro running through it at the bottom.

If you stay at the Ritz, you can walk through the TC complex and go thru Morton's backdoor and also into the Casino on the second floor. It's nice if you aren't wanting to go roam around downtown.

They do have a decent sub/sandwich shop at the casino but agreed to farm all the high end comps out to local restaurants. (Like Morton's, John Q, etc..)

Check on E. 4th street, several nice restaurants. Lola & the Greenhouse Tavern(kinda hipster) but good eclectic food.

 

Looks like there is an Indians game in town that night. Obviously, no idea about the Cavs yet. But if its an Indians game only, how is the parking/crowd situation?

 

It all depends on who they are playing and how good of a start they get off to. April and May crowds can be pretty sparse. The posted $40 parking will scare a lot of the casual fans off of the main casino deck so you should be fine there. I can't imagine the Blue Jays or Twins are really going to create a huge up-tick in the casino traffic. Both of those Saturday games late afternoon, as long as you are not getting to the casino around game time you shouldn't have a problem.

 

Well with the way the Indians played this weekend, you may not have to worry about the crowd for that game. The Cavs will cause more of a traffic issue - but nothing I would shy away from.

Craps table in HL is $50 minimum (not $100 as previously stated - but only only Friday/Saturday night). Also, HL has separate cashier's cage - very handy when cashing in a large amount of money. Being an urban casino, you do have to watch yourself - especially when leaving the cage area.

 

A must stop at the end E4th is THE CHOCOLATE BAR stop in and try a PEANUT BUTTER CUP martini. $10.00 bucks but WELL worth it. Big & lots of booze in it. also comes with edible chocolate straw. No peanuts then try CHOC COVER PRETZEL.
