I did a search but it comes up with too much other stuff and I can't seem to find what I am looking for.

I am looking to hear from people who have stayed at Red Rock. I really need the good bad and ugly on the whole place. Room recommendations, shopping nearby anything and everything. We managed to turn our 7 night July trip into 10 nights and would like to spend a few days checking out Red Rock.

    TIA

    Billy.

I just returned from a three night stay at Red Rock, preceded by a three night stay at the Golden Nugget. I don't have enough good things to say about Red Rock. It's doubtful I will ever return to Fremont Street or to the Strip to stay in one of the hotels.

At the GN, there was not a seat to be had at the pool, so we ended up paying $80 for two chaise lounges at the adult pool. One margarita and one bloody mary later, we paid our $28 bar bill and left our $80 chairs because there was no shade to be had. The casino is full of falling-down drunks and the machines are so unbelievably tight that I don't think I ever cashed anything out.

The rooms at Red Rock are beautiful, there are acres of swimming pools, the food is good, the cocktail service is abundant, and the casino has great paytables and 3:2 blackjack. I hit several large jackpots. We even tried the spa, the bingo parlor, and saw a movie at the cinema. At the end of my stay, I was cheerfully transferred to a casino host by the front desk. The host, looked at my slot play and happily comped my whole stay including my spa treatment. Bravo!

The biggest drawback is the 20 minute drive to the Strip. But if you are like me, and you've done the Strip, you won't miss it at all. Go to Red Rock. Relax. Enjoy the resort. There is plenty to keep you busy there for a few days.

Do you have any specific questions?

We have stayed at RR many times since shortly after they opened. We feel very much at home there. The rooms are large, modern and have large bathrooms with separate tub and shower. Beds are heavenly. Nice pools but they are crowded with kids on the weekends. Lots of food choices including a good buffet and food court, movie theater, bingo hall and bowling alley. The casino is very large. We don't play table games so I can't comment on that but they have a great selection of the newest slots and good VP. The new HUGE shopping center, Downtown Summerlin, is right next door and Red Rock Canyon is only several miles away. There's not much shopping in the resort itself but there are some strip type shopping centers across the street. Easy access to I215. As far as rooms go, you can either get a strip view or a pool/canyon view. We prefer the canyon view from a high floor. It can be a hike from the elevator to the rooms at the end of the hall so, if walking is not your thing, ask for room close to the elevator. What else would you like to know?

I too would heartily recommend Red Rock. We are heading back there in late June. The standard rooms are very modern and spacious, very clean and comfortable. We always rent a car so the location is not a downer for us, they do provide an airport and strip shuttle for guests if you want it. The casino is spacious and bright with an abundance of both table games and slots or all denominations. Rules for the table games are far more player friendly than anything you might find on the strip or even downtown, many with low minimums. Food choices run from a food court, buffet to high end steak house. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

We have stayed at Red Rock many times, and have always enjoyed it. The hotel delivers a consistent 4 star experience, with a beautiful entryway/lobby area. The regular rooms are very nice, but consider upgrading to a suite if the price difference is reasonable. They feel palatial, and the tub in the bathroom is much nicer. Also, I prefer rooms with a view of Red Rock Canyon vs. one of the Strip. As noted previously, the walk from the elevators to the room can be long. There are no coffee makers in the rooms, but there is a Starbucks close to the casino level elevators. The local newspaper is delivered to your room each day. The casino has decent odds and low table minimums, and the dealers and bartenders are friendly. There are a number of good dining options both on-site and nearby. Downtown Summerlin is right next door, with lots of shopping and dining options (and a Trader Joe's!). We haven't been to the pool, but it looks inviting. Red Rock also has a movie theatre and bowling alley. The one drawback is that you are about 20 min from the Strip, but if you have a rental car that's not a big deal. If you have a Costco membership, their travel website has very competitive rates on rental cars. We just stayed at RR last week. Let me know if you have any specific questions.

Thanks for the info so far.

We are sooooo done with the strip it isn't funny. Currently our home is at Palms but we have thought often of visiting RR. In my research I have come across that RR is part of Stations, how well do they treat the gamblers? Another one is a room fridge, do the rooms have a fridge? Oh and weather, we love the heat, how hot does it get there in the summer?

I'll be honest, it's sounding pretty damn good so far:licklips:

I concur with all of the good comments regarding this resort. It's nicer than most of the Strip resorts, save for the 4 1/2 - 5 star resorts. I really liked the sports book which was nice, spacious and had enough room to accommodate all sports players and horse racing bettors. Poker room nice, great video poker offerings and table games (blackjack) has decent rules. Love hitting Red Rock (the State Park) and we always stop at Red Rock Resort afterward.

The one drawback is comps for out of town gamblers. I was comped there (back end) on my only stay, and while I had a few decent offers, they seemed to dry up for me and many on the board. There were some threads a while back and people spoke to management there and it the consensus was they were shifting their comp focus to locals. If you play steady and enough for a comp, if you call you should be able to book future comps, but they want a lot of action (and they charge a lot for their rooms - many nights their rooms are as expensive as Wynn / Aria).

How well do they treat gamblers? Compared to many strip hotels, not very well in my opinion. When we first started going there, comps were great. We got invites to slot tournaments, Super Bowl parties, 4th of July parties, etc. After the reorganization a few years back, comps got really tight. Before then, tiers renewed annually so it was easy to attain higher status; now they renew every 6 months so, unless you're a local (and they really do love locals) or a BIG gambler, it's hard to get more than free rooms. That being said, we often choose Stations (we like both RR and GVR) over strip hotels for part of our visit because we get tired of the craziness and crowds on the strip.

No fridges in the rooms. Heat? Just as hot there as anywhere else in the valley.

I'm not disagreeing, per se. But my personal experience was different. I had originally stayed for one night back in Thanksgiving of 2014 in a room I booked through Hotwire. (They are consistently on Hotwire.) I played a bunch of .05 Ultimate X that night with my card in. I was there on this trip because I received a mailer for 2 comp nights with a third at $79 plus a reduced resort fee of $12.50 for that third night (no resort fee on the 2 comp nights). I did play heavily (for me) at the .25 and .50 level during those three days - perhaps about $20K coin in over three days. My gambling budget is about $500 per day, but I had some luck and was able to play quite a bit. My final night's stay and my massage at the spa was happily comped off at the end. And with the point multiplier, I ate almost all my meals for free using the player's card.

I do need to add that the player's club attendant asked me if I play tables. I do...some. She said that they can't see table play and that any comps from table play come from the pit. I guess you have to ask while you are playing. Seems odd to me because I don't wait until I'm hungry to play blackjack.

I have no idea if I will receive future mail offers, but the host did say to give her a call if we wanted to come back. The nice Strip hotels won't even look at my play. YMMV

One small correction, Red Rock is a Federal park I believe Valley of Fire is state.

Makes a difference to us old guys who use Senior Pass. LOL

I guess we don't put through as much money as you do but, for about the same play or maybe more at RR, we get comped nights at Bellagio, Aria, all CET props, etc, and get some free play and resort credit to boot. Was this when you were a local? We have a host at RR but she is completely useless as far as we're concerned. We have better luck with our host a GVR where we'll be staying in a couple of weeks because RR was sold out.

I'm not sure if this post was directed toward me, but I'll answer. I am not a local. I live in Colorado now and visit 2-3 times per year. CET and MGM properties have such terrible VP paytables that I refuse to play there, comps or no comps.

I used to stay at Red Rock all the time.
    A couple years ago --
the comp's dried up - so my wife + I moved on.
    We loved the place !
It actually snowed one January day while we were there -
the strip got nothing - but Red Rock is higher elevation.

I loved that Brew Pub across the street !
first + ONLY time I qualified as a "senior" was at RR cinemas.

Thanks for correcting. You are correct sir, Bureau of Land Management.

My brother lives in Summerlin and gets an annual pass as he hikes there most weekends.

I agree with all the great things people have said about RR. Beautiful property. Only negative is it will be smokey from all the locals....worse on weekends than weekdays.

I was checking the rates on this place, and they seemed awful high. Is there anywhere to get better rates than the website?
