    Back at MGM

we headed back to MGM. I took the following picture when we got there as I had to add another MGM Lion picture to my collection. The pimp that Lion out for just about everything .....

.... I thought this was a great picture when I took it but obviously it wasn't ...

... one too many drinks? 10 too many? or just bad photo skills? I really didn't think I had that many at the time ... so obviously, we needed to hit WD for a drink. Got a couple drinks from Matt and Vanessa and headed to the carnival PIT for some LIR. They had 2 tables going but only one spot each, so SH and split up. I bought in for $5K and started playing .... all in all a fun table. I happened to be at first base ... I rather be at third but this is my second choice. However, the lady at third base was just killing it. She had a 4oak about 30 mins before I showed up and was regularly hitting "no-brainers" and a lot of smaller wins above 2 pair, she betting the table minimum. I was very happy for her but really wanted her cards. She kept telling us it was time for them to go (it was probably about 10:30 or 11) and I just kept waiting.... I couldn't hit a thing ... I was never over my buy-in and was only winning one in 5+ hands and most of the time it was 10s or better. Killed the first $5k pretty quick ..... now, if you remembered, I didn't play the night before after getting way to drunk and tired .... this is key, as I would normally just walk away at that loss and go play something else. I reasoned with myself that I didn't play the night before, so just buy in again ... and so I did. Another $5k marker and I was off .... and off to losing that .... about half way through that, the lady on third (finally) decides to leave and I jump seats .... and SH moves over from his other table (he was also getting killed). By this point, we had made a few more runs to WD for drinks as well as the really bad one that the cocktail girl tried to have the regular bar make ... but I was sure it was my time ....

... this is where I would love to insert the great chip porn but alas it was not to be had (I am still waiting to post some chip porn on this site, I have a few VP but so far my table play on these TRs has been terrible). I blew through the second marker and took out another $5K ..... and just kept losing ... I should have walked but it just couldn't last .. just couldn't ... but it did. I don't ever remember getting over any of the markers I took out. I would lose 4 bets but then when 2 back ... just could not get a big win. I don't think I had anything over 2 pair and that was only once or twice. I finally had it with the beating I was taking and left. I was down about $13K for just that sitting. I can't say I liked it but it is just part of the game.

Back to WD for a night cap .. .it was probably about 2:30 or 3 by this time. I had a $500 TITO from earlier at WD, so I put that in and started playing. About 12 hands in, I hit my second hand pay for the trip. It definitely took the sting out of the LIR beating but still had a long way to go.

... I should have called it a night but wandered over to the HL room and found a Cleo 2 machine. I did hit another free spin but only got about $180 out of it ... hit another $1000 combo, so turned about $400 into a little over $1000. Should have stopped there but I was chasing... and using Cleo to do it .... bad idea .. the little $%*& ... didn't want to give it up ..... not a good thing when you just got a cash handpay ... didn't lost it all but I was done ..... hit the room about 4am.

I had some time in the morning to try to get some of it back. (I was supposed to stay over on friday but had some family stuff come up and had to fly home that afternoon) ..... I will try to wrapped this up later. I was able to get some numbers from my host and will share those then .... thanks for sticking with me.

Thanks Tbone. I think you might be the only one still with me. Lol. I actually enjoy doing these and enjoyed yours and others and like to give back ... even if it is very slow. Will finish up in the morning.

    The End

I was back up about 7am, got ready and packed (just so I didn't have to worry about it), I wasn't leaving until about 1:30pm. I have never been a breakfast person but from time to time, I will find something I like. I have yet to really find anything at MGM for breakfast that keeps me coming back. Maybe I am not looking in the right place. Anyway, I grabbed something from McD just to fill the void. I headed back over to WD to play some VP. You never know what you are going to find there in the morning. Nothing interesting this morning. I did notice that all the tables were reserved. This was at about 8:30am. I over heard the manager (I think) talking with this lady about getting a couple tables. It appeared that the high tops (seat about 4) were going to $650. I am not sure that was for the day or morning or afternoon. It appeared that it was for MM, however WD doesn't really have many TVs, so that seemed overkill to me but people were paying it or so it appeared they were worth it to some.

Stayed about even for the morning then hit the following that put up a little for the morning but still way down .....

Headed back up to the room to see if SH was moving around yet. He was and a little while later we headed back down.

Headed back over to Cleo 2 and hit a couple free spins but once again, couldn't get anything more than a couple hundred from each. Proceed to dump the little I was up from VP earlier with no real wins. That was it for me and time to head to airport. SH had a later flight and stayed to play some more in the HL room.

I figured I would finish this up with some random thoughts and observations.

We made all our dinner plans (not always a given).
    - Charlie Palmer was good. It was worth giving another try but I many other places I would rather go for steak
    - Yellowtail - Once again, outstanding.
    - In-and-Out Burger - Always good to me. Originally from southern CA and many generation native Californian, just never disappoints.

I completely forgot about the MGM VIP March Madness viewing party .... and for good reason. I was completely disappointed. It was a complete joke. I have never been to one before but I can tell you I would never plan anything around one again. I saw some of the pictures of the Wynn and even others and they were much much nicer. MGM just put up a few TVs between Pucks and KA with a few round tables on each side. So, unless you were down there at the crack of dawn, you either had to turn seats around or sit at one of the table it corners which you could only see one TV very well. You had to hope it was the game you wanted to watch. There were 2-3 tables reserved (out of maybe 12) but when I asked about them, I was told they were on hold for MGM CIO. Once again, MGM executives seemed to be taking full advantage of their positions. In addition, you got wrist bands that let you in this area that was just fenced off by .. well, fences. Many people were just standing on the outside watching the games. You only got 2 free drinks and all the food was for purchase. I really didn't care about the games but had some friends come over from other hotels to watch and felt like an ass having them come all the way over for that. They didn't stay long and I didn't blame them. I didn't either and that was when SH and I headed to SLS.

    - I did get a couple hand pays.
    - Casino hopped but not as many as I wanted.
    - No REVIV this trip but that is a good thing (I think)
    - No pool but no surprise there
    - Skipped Foundation Room, as other weren't around and I have been there many times
    - LIR - hit a straight flush ... well that was a big NO. Looking back I should have just asked for a 3oak.

I know I had a number of other random thoughts but for the life of me, I can't remember them. If I do, I will post.

    Final numbers per MGM

    TC - 130K

    VP & Slots
    Coin-in - $51k
    3435 theo
2815 loss (better than the theo, that last handpay helped huge)

Table play (all LIR this trip)
    4.5 hours
    $451 avg bet
    2505 theo
$12520 loss (way over the theo and I am generally much closer when I lose)

    Total
    $5940 theo
    $15,335 loss

Lost about $1000 at other casinos, so just over $16K lost for the trip. Not my worse trip but close. I will get them next time. As my host always says, they will keep my deposit safe for when I return.

Had a great time with a good friend and look forward to many more trips in the future.

    Thanks for sticking it out.

    .

Thanks for finishing this report; sorry your luck wasn't better. I enjoy LIR....one of those games that hooks you if you've ever had a big hit on it (I've had a couple) but I usually hit and run on it. The luck, bad or good, definitely seems to run in cycles on it.

I hope you get all of that back and much more next week. The drink I like so much is called:

    Fire in the Hole
Grey Goose La Poire, Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey,
Fresh Lemon Juice, Rock Candy Syrup

It is not on the menu at the bar anymore, but it is still up on the website. You might get a temp bartender that says they can't make it but Matt and Vanessa both know how to make it and they generally work evenings wed to sat. I personally think Matt makes it better but I wouldn't tell Vanessa that. :)

And I am completely hooked. I have had about four 4oaks in the last 4-5 years. 3 for 45K and 1 for $30k. Had many FH and other smaller wins. Still waiting the straight flush but I will take a 4oak in the meantime. :) I am on a dry spell of about 16 months but I will keep chasing that win. Thanks for reading.

thanks for the report, LIR always kicks my butt so I never donate too much to it, got myself hooked on UTH which kind of goes the same way. Hit huge hands and get money, or watch someone else hit huge hands while you lose.

Yep. LIR is feast or famine. I know better, so when the famine hits I usually walk away for awhile. I have played all the carney games and still do but I just keep going back to LIR. I also like the way the rate and the comps (even if I am not playing for them).
