Stayed in Rush Tower in 2011 when it was still brand new and am thinking about canceling Four Queens and staying at the Nugget. I can get the Carson Tower for 49, Gold tower for 79 or Rush Tower for 89 plus tax and resort fees.

Would I be losing anything staying in The Carson Tower compared to the Rush tower? I loved my room then and it is the same rate now as it was then, only staying the one night.

Some people will tell you they are nice, but this is probably in comparision to other rooms downtown. I was in one in 2012 and thought it was pretty dumpy. NO comparision b/w it and Rush. From what I've seen the Gold rooms look nice too, just smaller than Rush tower rooms.

Called them direct and they gave me the Rush Tower for the casino rate so a bit discounted, and said if my play is similar to what it was last trip they will knock some off the back end.

I wouldn't call the Carson rooms dumpy, although I think the bathroom is a bit on the small side. They recently dressed the Gold Tower rooms up to make them appear like the Rush rooms, but they still have the small bathrooms.

I thought the Carson Tower rooms were very nice. Of course, that was over 13 years ago, and I guess they could have become run down in the interim. Small bathrooms do not concern me. How much time do you spend in there on vacation, anyway?

I stayed in the Gold Tower rooms a couple years ago and they were also very nice. Not overly plush, but very adequate.

Exactly! I would use the words "clean but dumpy" and they absolutely are nice compared to most downtown rooms as you point out, but then that's not saying a whole lot. People who are "value oriented" and don't mind the extra walk the Carson Tower affords them seem happy with them, but IMHO there's no real comparison between the two.

To me the whole how much time do you spend in your room argument doesn't really hold water. Why would I want to stay somewhere dumpy when you're in the hotel room capital of the world? Regardless of how much time you spend there. Having a beautifully appointed room to pre game/wake up in makes all the difference in the world to me. Dollar for dollar, a room like a Rush Tower room would cost you $400+/night in any other major city.

Thanks Mike. And full discolsure, I wasn't staying there...I was staying at Encore. Some of our family was staying there. I just remember thinking...this is supposed to be nice? I'm booked Rush Tower Deluxe, and have already confirmed via phone call w/ front desk I'll be upgraded (Landry's select) to a Jr.Corner Suite if available, but going to pay for Spa Tower Suite upgrade if available. Life's short....Vegas rooms are cheap...take advantage :)

The spa suites are in the gold tower. Personally I've always stayed in the gold tower. The renovated rooms are about equal to the Rush tower with the only exception being that rush tower is non smoking.

The spa suites are actually in the spa tower, and can only be accessed by the elevators near the keno lounge.

Interesting. I was told they're higher up in the gold tower when I booked my room. So its the same elevator you use to go to buffet/wedding chapel?

Yeah same elevator, but you need a room key to access the floors with the rooms.
