    My Trip Report

My wife and I travel to Vegas 3-4 times a year. This trip we are staying at the Tropicana. We have a great host in Shelby. Our check in this trip was one of the easiest and best I have ever had. We were upgraded to a club suite. We had our resort fee waived and we got both a strip and pool view. This trip is off to a great start.

We checked in around 11 PM. We called it a night after a long week as an elementary teacher and a high school principal. We woke up and spent a couple hours at the pool. Record highs in Vegas this week!

After a shower We went down and started gambling. My wife hit a couple nice slots and I had a good run at the race and sports book. Had both Wisconsin and Notre Dame. As we left for a late lunch we were up 180.

Off to NYNY and one our favorite pizza slices. It did not disappoint. After some pizza and breadsticks we went over to the Monte Carlo. My wife stayed even and I lost a couple races. Not much damage. We dame back to the Trop and cheered my Irish on. So close to knocking off Mentucky but still cashed a nice ticket. I also hit a good payout in spin poker. As we left for dinner we were up 340.

We wanted to eat at Ramsey's burger place at PH. Wait was too long so we settled for combo fried rice at PF Changs. Good as always.

Got back to the Trop and got on a sick run at Ultimate Holdem. Couldn't lose a hand. My wife got comped a coup,e Rock Vault tickets too. Excited to go see this show. We finished with some roulette together and drank a few drinks. After an hour we were up 50 and called it good.

Day one was both fun and profitable. Just wish my Irish could have pulled the upset. Sun, good food and up almost 500. Hope the rest of the trip is that good.

Off to downtown tomorrow. My wife is a plaza bingo junkie and I enjoy some Binions poker. Will post later.

Sounds like a great start. I've had mixed luck so far at UTH, but almost always fun with the dealers. I've seen pics of the line at Ramsey's burger place, and wow, it must be good. I might try to get there early Wednesday before Jeff Dunhamm, and try it out.

Oh how I wish I was at Tropicana's pool; it really is my favourite in Vegas. Raiding the Rock Vault is fabulous; I'm going to see it again in May (saw it in December at Trop). I thought Jan Rouven's Illusions at Trop was very entertaining as well.

There's a great Groupon deal for Biscayne right now. Don't know if you've dined there before?

Looking forward to more updates. How about a few pool photos for those of pus in the cold?

    Day 2

Well day 2 definitely was a back to earth gambling day. But with that said, we were still in a great Tropicana Suite. We still woke up and hung out at the awesome Trop Pool.

I split my 2 NCAA plays. After losing on Louisville my wife and I headed downtown. She loves the Plaza and I was going to play in the 2PM tournament at Binions. Great structure. Just card dead for a lot and made a couple bad decisions on big hands. Went out around 50 of 100. At least there was no bubble.

After getting knocked out I had the Hangover Burger at the Binions cafe. Great sandwich and fries.

Caught up with my wife and lost a little on the craps table at LV Club. I then had a break even session at the Nuggett in a 1-2 game. Lost a big pot with AQ vs 47 hearts. He missed the heart but did hit a gut shot straight to win a 300 dollar pot. That's Poker, but not the worst beat of the day for me.

After a great slice of Pizza at Secret Pizza at the Cosmo I headed to the aria for some 1-3. Bought in for 200. Ran it up to 450 with some great flops and button play. I lose with KK as J 10 turned 2 pair. Actually a bad check out of villain saved me some cash.

But the dagger was 5 hands later as I wake up with AA under the gun, make it 18 and get 5 callers. Flop is q 3 5 with 2 clubs. I fire 100 on the flop. Fold 2 button who smooth calls. 8d on turn and I shove my last 115. Button tanks then calls. 2clubs on river as I expected see KJ clubs. Oh well. Live to fight another day.

Walk back to Trop. Cash my Duke check and call it a -550 day. My wife also had a bad day.

But we are on vacation! Going to play 10 am at PH. Hope the poker gods are a little nicer in AM
Rock Vault tomorrow and Rio seafood Buffett!

The line always seems to be long at Gordon Ramsey's Burger place, but if there are seats at the bar you can ask the hostess if they are available and sit immediately.

The lines are always long at the Gordon Ramsey Burgr place. But if you are a Total Rewards member Platinum or higher, you can skip the line. We will be arriving in Planet Hollywood Friday afternoon. Have tickets for Jeff Dunham for Saturday night. Great show!! I saw him last year in Atlantic City, he is hilarious!! You will love it.

Day 3. What a fun day my wife and I had. I cashed in 3rd at the 10 AM at Planet Hollywood. We hate at the Rio Seafood Buffet. Hit 150 on VP at Gold Coast. Lost some bad Pai Gow hands at the Bellagio.

You can see we saw a lot of the city today. Did lots of gambling. Was playing 1-3 at Aria. Grinding but one really interesting hand came about half way through my session. I am on button with J8 clubs. 5 limpers to me. I made it 22. Get 3 callers. Flop is J A 9. 2 clubs. Villain bets 35. I smooth and so does big blind. Turn is meaningless 5 hearts. Villain bets 100. I tank and then shove. I had 310 in front of me. Big blind folds. After 3 minutes villain folds. What did he have? Don't kid yourself I was great with the fold. At the time I had him on A10. Don't think he limps with AQ. But after replaying all day I am thinking more 78 clubs. The club draw makes more since. I thought big blind had straight draw. Just really weird hand with pretty solid table.

Last day tomorrow. More pool time, some cards, NIT, horses and Rock Vault.

Sounds like a wonderful trip...enjoy your last day. I did want to ask...what is the name of the pizza place in NYNY? Is it right in the casino?

    Last Day

what a fun trip. Yes the NYNY pizza is right in the middle of casino. Right by Gallaghers. It is called Sirracos. I think. We had lunch their today. Great as always.

Day started with using our 50 food and drink credit with breakfast at Trop Beach Club. It is good. Not great. And a big pitcher of Manic Monday's at the pool. A great lemonade concoction that set the day in motion.

We had a great time at the Hold Em table game with Sloan. Fantastic and fun dealer. Played for an hour and finished up 40. Winner!

We went down to Mandalay Bay. It was a good run at the poker table. Got KK on the button. With 350 in front. uTG makes it 15. 2 callers. I 3 bet to 40. Actually get 2 callers. Flop was J 8 3 rainbow. Villain bets out 70. I just smooth call after other player folds. Not sure if I should have shoved right then? But turn is another 3. I am sure it didn't help villain. He has me covered btw. He bets 125. I shove. He instant calls with queens. King for over kill on river and walk out an hour later +530. Best story at Mandalay.,.. My wife comes into poker room visibly upset. Her story is she is up 230 in slots. Is playing 25 cent machine. Moves a bank over puts her ticket in. Plays 3x and does it twice before she realizes it is a 25 dollar machine. 150 bucks gone and is pissed. I give her 150 from my poker wins and she calms down some.

We each have a rum drink or 3!

I play a couple futures. Ryan Moore to win masters, Chicago White Sox under in wins and a small ticket on Yankees to win the series.

If n town you have to see Rock Vault at Trop. Esoecially if you lived in the 80's one of the best shows in town

Just a great trip and another Vegas getaway that I love with my wife. Lots of fun times together.

My only bummer is we are going to Mexico this summer, so no Vegas till November. Hope you had fun reading and hope everyone has great luck when you visit.

Thank you for the Pizza info. I also like NYNY...played there last June and won a slot tournament...$1500 in free play...and won a few hand pay jackpots. Now when I go back in August I am going to try the pizza...sounds like a winner to me!

Happy to hear you trip with your wife was wonderful....I enjoy when my husband and I go...always fun!

Sounds like you ran bad early at poker. When you opened AA for 18 UTG and got 5 callers that's brutal.

During the J8cc hand I think his range is really wide. As good as Ace rag, maybe Jx, or QTo. I doubt he's folding 78cc here for $210 more after putting in $150 and holding flush draw plus double gutshot.

KK hand played well. Calling flop makes it look like your floating AK/AQ and forces him to bet turn and overcommit with Jx's (and QQ's in this case).
