Could everyone tell me what type of drinks are accepted to ask for? I'm assuming they can't be too expensive?
First trip to Vegas tomorrow :) super excited today!!!

I would just ask the cocktail waitress if she could bring a particular drink. If not, she'll let you know. Have a few different drinks in mind.

Usually it depends on where you are.

Just ask the waitress she'll let you know what's available

    free if you are gambling

There is a 31 page thread on this subject that is still going on: https://www.vegasmessageboard.com/forums/showthread.php?83619-What-drink-do-you-get-comped-exactly

And this is a thread about ordering drinks with some tips: https://www.vegasmessageboard.com/forums/showthread.php?116819-Casino-drinks

Basically, it depends where you are: lower end cheap places won't have much of a beer selection.

Almost everybody will have the basic beers like Budweiser, Miller Lite, Heineken, Corona, etc

For things like rum, vodka, whiskey, etc - everybody will have basic stuff available. You can ask for specific brands but they won't bring you high end stuff unless your play warrants it - if you are playing penny slots and ask for a screwdriver you aren't going to get Grey Goose, you'll get whatever vodka comes out of the gun.

If you want a drink that has multiple alcohols in it that can depend on the drink and where you are playing and usually only goes up to 2. Something that has more than that isn't likely.

You can only order one drink at a time. If you've been tipping the waitress well and being a good customer you might be able to get an extra shot with your order.

At the bar most drinks will cost $5-8, maybe more if its a mixed drink, maybe $15-20 if its a mixology drink or a high end bar. Why pay when the drinks are free on the floor? Because the waitress is only going to come around a couple of times an hour and if you want to get a lot of drinks in you you'll probably have to hit the bar.

Awesome advice Auggie. I'd only add that the drinks just plain taste better when you get them at the bar. Except beer and any mixed drink at Flamingo.

That is a generalization. There are properties that serve top-shelf while playing penny slots. Tip well, and all of a sudden the top shelf flows like its Crystal Palace.

I have not asked but often wonder about a Long Island Iced Tea as the glasses they give you are so small I can't image them fitting all the different combinations of liquor required to make that drink fit in those small glasses.

This is incorrect. You need to specify when your order. If you order "redbull and vodka", they will give you the shitty vodka. You need to say "goose and redbull". It also depends on the casino you are at. Any descent casino (NYNY and above) will give you top shelf liquor even if you are playing penny slots. I know some of the lower end casinos don't have the better alcohol brands such as Patron.

If you want the premium stuff, you need to generally bet $100+ a hand. For Johnny Walker blue label, the pit boss will write a comp slip for the CW. Hennessey XO and Remy XO don't require comp slips in my experience.

Some CW will also only allow one drink at a time. If you tip well, they will bring you a few drinks at a time even though the rule is one drink at a time. Tip well and the drinks should keep flowing.

    Good luck and have fun.

if you are so inclined to want a rum n coke or jack n coke ,ask if they are using coca cola.
it's a split in places that have the real thing versus those that use pepsi

just one of my pet peeves as i prefer Coke

ps...if you want better than average service... a fiver up front as a tip works wonders.. just say, Hi, I'm George. ;)

What kind of drinks do you want? It's also dependent on the casino. The definition of "premium" differs property to property.

I've wondered about this too, since I'd guess long islands are (by far) the most commonly ordered complex drink, and one that people would be surprised if they couldn't get. My guess is there's a specific setting on the gun with all the needed liquors premixed - so one shot of that and a splash of mixer.

If you play slots, you should check out the Venetian/Palazzo!

There is a feature on the machines (located where the card reader display is) called drinks 2 u. You simply press it, and it will give you full drink menu options....everything from beer, wine, mixed drinks, custom cocktails.......you just press what you want and the servers will deliver it to the machine. It's VERY cool!

Especially the penny slots! It's not in every area, but many of the areas. I used it last trip....it was awesome....no more long waits for the gal to come around just to get it ordered!!!

I love that about V/P! Is it still there? Last time I stayed there about a year ago, it was only in the non-smoking section and next time I walked through late last summer, I didn't see it. If they do (and even if they don't), get the Ceasar. Very tasty with 2 massive olives in it.

By the way, I'm curious about long islands as well. I've never really thought about getting one from a cocktail waitress. Or maybe an A.D.M.F.'er lol.

It is there now, I played on them with it in a smoking section at Palazzo, just seemed there was some areas with it, just not all. I know when I was there last year they had a problem with it due to the computer hack and it hadn't been running, but it worked great this last trip I had in early March. I think I had a piƱa colada.

I still haven't used that at V/P and will definitely have to check it out because thats always been my biggest complaint about playing slots there: no cocktail service.
