Just wondering does anyone do scratch off tickets? Does that make up for not being in Vegas? Any luck with them.

I like to buy Royal Riches scratch offs because I usually win something.
    Anyone else have a favorite?

I do, but it's for a quick laugh. Never won more than $100. It makes up for not being in Vegas like a party balloon makes up for not having any air to breathe.

We don't have lottery here in Nevada (I live in the north), but my wife sends me over to get her Quick Picks (I think they're called) in Tahoe City every so often... we still go to work everyday, so that tells you how well we've done

Every once in a while. The most I ever won was $100.

No because the lottery is for suckers.

I'm a real Vegas degen but if you really

can't be without some kind of gambling in between visits

you might need to seek help.

Every once in a while I buy scratch offs because my dream is to hit on a win for life type of game. But we have casinos and racetracks here plus every two bit establishment has a slot machine or two so I have other ways to get my gamble on.

Your state of Illinois is pretty nuts on the lottery since you can use a mobile app to buy tickets with a credit card.

May 2008 I hit a Massachusetts $10 ticket for $50,000. I stopped buying them at that point. State lotteries are voluntary taxes for the mathematically inept. Payback averages 50% on the scratch tickets.

Would you play a video poker machine with a 50% payback schedule? People rationalize it as "it's going to the schools". Just send the schools the money directly and short circuit the politically connected hacks in the Lottery Commision and they'd get 100%!

Piggy? do you remember when Channel 5 out of Boston had a nightly lottery tv show... I won an entry to it and was on the show one night and came a CH away from $100,000....oh well
was also on Candlepins for cash with Bob Gamere... i swear he was "lit" during taping:drunk:

I used to get a few every year in my stocking at Christmas but nobody ever won more than a dollar or two so we never get them anymore. I think I've bought one lottery ticket over the past five years and that was when it was up over 500 million.

Don't usually buy scratch-offs, but when not in Vegas we visit our local casinos about twice a month to get our gambling fix. Our daughter did win 10K on a scratch off about 15 years ago, that was pretty exciting for her. Never say never!!!

If the office goes in on a jackpot pool because I don't want to be left behind when they take their jobs and shove them, and a scratcher here and there. Never made more than $250. Will stop at an Indian casino if passing one (maybe once every few years.)

We have a new IC just 10 mins from our house. Alittle close for comfort, but we visit there like dinner & a movie.
They send $20 dining credit, so we go for a meal. (Nice restaurants) and do alittle play.
Stay for their car drawing, and go home. Maybe once a month.
Don't usually buy scratchers except for stocking stuffers.
Prefer to save bankroll for Vegas.

I do remember those shows! And remember Bob Gamere!

The TV personalities were/are often drunk or stoned. Many are nice, many are assholes too. I have frequent contact with Tori Bileci and Kerry Byron the two ex Mythbusters, both fantastic folks on and off camera. No comment on the third ex-Mythbuster... If you remember Bruce Schowegler from Channel 4 Boston, his son works with me now.

I feel old, old, old... Still won't buy tickets though. Nor Keno.

Not very lucky at NY scratchies, never more than $100. My son has had better luck ($50k and $1500).

I did hit for $600 at Quick Draw(keno) on sunday during dinner at the Ground round (5 out of 5 for $2). They didn't have enough money to pay me, had to hit a couple of 7-11s before I found one that could pay.

I buy them as gifts from time to time. Otherwise I'll just buy a Powerball or Megabucks ticket if the jackpot is over $100 million (because $99 million just isn't worth winning).

Not one to buy scratch offs, but if I'm at a VFW or American Legion bar, I have to buy $20 worth of those pull tab cards. One time about 6 of us pooled our funds and bought $200 worth and we ended up winning about $80 over our investment.

The thing I don't get in the Seattle area (I assume it's other places) are pull tabs.. I've seen people blow serious money on these things.

I LOVE to gamble. Hell, I once bet a guy $20 I would be back with a bottle of water before my buddy puked... but I can't imagine the pull tabs..

I think why I love Vegas so much is it's the only place I choose to gamble (and drink excessively and stay up all night). I don't have to be overly responsible. And if I let that bleed into every day life it would take some of the magic away for me.

    T minus 29 hours.. :)
