Flamingo with location, the Pool, and you have the LinQ Center next door.

I am a Mlife guy but I would go with the Flamingo.

Spent some time down that way last trip checking out the Hi Roller ............... lots to do and see in that area

Walked thru the Flamingo with the wife and went outside where the flamingos and coy ponds are located - it was decent.

Your not going to see much in the Excalibur except time share hawkers, little kids and some mexicans sharing a half gallon liquor bottle around the slots,

Flamingo, for sooooooooo many reasons. Location is big, along with the others mentioned above.

But now that the IP is no more (and refurbished into the Linq), the Excaliber has taken over the title of most beat up, worn out, and just plain crappy hotel/casino on the strip. Call it the "IP2".

Between those two, Flamingo hands down. I stayed two nights at Excalibur last trip and I refuse to stay there ever again, in fact I will probably never step foot in the trashy castle again. It's as bad as others have mentioned. Flamingo has one of the best pools on the strip, you really can't beat the mid strip location and they have a plethora of updated rooms.

Flamingo wins out. The only thing I think Excal has is the south strip location if you prefer south strip, slightly better dining (ie just food choices), and the pool, while basic, isn't usually crazy crowded, which can be a plus for some people over the great pool at Flamingo.

Flamingo has a better mid strip location, quicker to the rooms and out the casino, I like the open air component at times, and the clientele are slightly better (just a personal judgement).

Both have their passionate haters on this board, and both have some fans. I'd say there are more fans of the Flamingo that the Excal.

With regards to location I prefer the area around the Excal. But of course that's subjective.

    Flamingo:

    a) location, location, location. I love that end of the strip, with the new Linq area, Caesars, etc

    b) Total Rewards. I just prefer TR over Mlife

However, Excalibur has a krispy kreme donuts and pizza hut in the food court, and I'm a huge sucker for both

The only thing Excalibur has going for it is Dick's. If I'm staying on the south end of the strip it's going to be Mandalay Bay or MGM.

Flamingo. We only stop at Excalibur on our September trip for Saturday college football due to always being able to get some back tables for our group of 8.

For reasons already mentioned (location, pool) I would suggest...
    Excalibur in the Fall/Winter
    Flamingo in the Spring/Summer

I think people are harsh when reviewing each resort, although I believe it's all relative.. Both are an excellent value.

Flamingo, mainly for the location. We stayed at Excalibur once, and while it was perfectly adequate for our needs, we walked up the strip almost every day. We never really got comfortable with that area and always wanted to be further North.
