From Red Rock and NOBU to Downtown, Martin Swift and Linda Rodriguez are building a gastropub.

Husband and wife chef team Martin Swift and Linda Rodriguez will display their culinary talents on Fremont Street when they launch The Smashed Pig gastropub this summer. The couple previously garnered attention for their Japanese cuisine at Hachi at Red Rock Resort

The long, thin, 1,860-square-foot space was once home to a tattoo parlor. The building is owned by the pair's new landlord, the Downtown Project and has neighbors The Griffin bar and the former sites of Kabob Korner and Uncle Joe’s Pizza on either side. Those fast food outlets are currently being remolded into Flippin' Good Burgers & Shakes......

I don't know enough about Liverpool to know what pasties and pies are, but they sound like things I could easily find in a Utah strip club.

This place looks like it'll have a good location on Fremont East.

I sure love a good pasty. I will definitely check this place out. And it's pronounced pah-stee, and it not related to the nipple covering device.

Does Utah allow totally nude strip clubs? How scantily clad can the dancers get? I can't help but picture them in a one piece bathing suit.

I do like a Cornish pasty. And a New Zealand pie.

I'd be impressed if they tried to make it really authentic: Surly service, unimpressed barkeeps, real ale served at an appropriate temperature, walkers prawn crisps, and best of all "no tipping required"
