I wanted to post this because, as far as I know, it's generally believed that blackjack at Binions has gone completely to 6:5. I just wandered through there so I thought I'd scout the tables.

The tables closest to the front door with the fishnet-clad big-boobed hottie cowgirl dealers were naturally 6:5. No surprise there.

I took a spin through the main pit area. There were a few more 6:5 tables mixed in with their carnival games.

And then, at the end of the pit farthest away from the front doors, I found two $10 3:2 tables. One table was single deck hand-pitch and the other was a double deck game dealt from a shoe.

This was on a Tuesday afternoon and you probably won't find these games during the weekend, but if you're in town on a weekday and you still have an attachment to Binions, you might be in luck.

    At a 3:2 table a blackjack with a $5 bet, I win $7.50. Same bet at 6:5, I win $6.

    At a 3:2 table a blackjack with a $10 bet, I win $15. Same bet at a 6:5 table, I win $12.50.

    etc.......

    You win $12 for a $10 blackjack on 6:5 not $12.50.

Thanks! I will definitely check this out next trip... I'm one of those who assumed 100% of the Binion's tables were 6:5 - as that is all I have seen in there for the past couple of years. Glad to be wrong... and I will reward them with play on my next trip.

At certain times of the day, this is true, but at night the 3/2 tables open up. they have the same rules as the 4 queens. Double 10 or 11 only, no DAS.

I was going to add this. We bought in at a table last year and found out rather quickly about their crappy rules. Sad as Bininons used to be my favorite place to play.

The Binion's single deck game carries a house advantage of 0.47%. You can certainly do worse for a red chip game. Of course, you can also do better at the El Cortez, assuming you can get a seat there.

...or, one could play any of the numerous 3:2 double-deck games stil available all over downtown, including several that still allow DAS.

Personally, I do not find any single deck game appealing anymore... if you're wise enough to find one paying 3:2 that allows you to double on any two cards, it will be a full table...meaning 1 or 2 hands per shuffle...which effectively erases any benefit of playing a single-deck game.

    That's why I far prefer a two-deck game...with DAS...and, obviously, DAT.

I agree, but if you're just looking for the lowest house advantage, there are places with worse set ups. (I'm looking at you MSS/Cal).

You can also have an almost equivalent HA (0.48%) at a 6D H17 DAS DAT with surrender game, but AFAIK Golden Nugget is the only house to offer surrender downtown.

I play 80 % BJ and stay downtown, I haven't played a hand at binions in my last 7 or 8 trips. I swing through a couple times just to see if there are any playable games and keep going, it's sad what binions has become.

    Sadly, I think you're correct...and isn't that Nugget shoe a $25 min?

Golden Gate used to have late-surrender on their 6-deck shoe (H17, DAT,DAS, LS), which is not even on the floor anymore - everything on the main floor is CSM.
I have not played it, but there is a $15 6-deck shoe in the HL "salon"...my guess is that this shoe is the same rules as the old 6-deck shoe that used to be on the main floor, and is very playable.
Their $15 2-deck shoe in same room is H17,DAT, DAS...I have played that table, and frankly, I can't see any reason to try the 6-deck game, so long as the DD game is the same minimum.
