Slots Vital Vegas article on the Lions Share slot

Anyone read the Vital Vegas article about the Lions Share slot machine?
They mention that according to Gambling enforcement code they could have transferred the Jackpot to anther machine and closed down the machine if they had chosen to do so.
But the Machine was a gold mine in how many $$$ per hour it made vs all the other slots..

I knew that this could be the case because I have seen the "This Jackpot will be moved by.." stickers on the machines I see from time to time. I always wondered what happened to progressives not won when the Casino closed down, but the Riviera Employee answered that for me.

 

It worked, because it got my money and I almost never play slots!

 

I knew the machine could have the jackpot moved too, but knew they wouldn't, especially once the media reported on it.

Doing some back of the envelope math myself while the machine was still active, this machine was averaging a 4 digit win a day (about $1100, iirc). The average casino win in a place like MGM is close to $200 per machine per day if one extrapolates the strip casino win data.

So I totally believe this:

 

Nevermind how many people that came to the MGM to play this machine and probably stayed and played other things, all on free advertising basically.

 

As a side note about the Lions share, I caught the end of Vegas Vacation the other note and noticed a sign for the Lions Share slot during the scene towards the end of the movie where the family was headed to the Keno are with 2 bucks to win back their money.

 

Basically very good marketing on their part.
They aren't the first to dish out some misinformation only to have it take off.
The only part I don't like is the fact it wasn't me that won.
